Hi, I used the same system you show here (got it on amazon) and works great for a fraction of the price some others ask for it. Don't know if anyone shared this but in the option for "method of capture" instead of the "GDI FS Aero" which I found added big stuttering with a drop of almost 50% FPS in 99% avg (ex: Assetto Corsa had a drop from 145 FPS to 50/60 FPS in the 99% avg) and was a "no go" for gaming, I tested other options and found out "windows 8" works perfect without any stuttering or frame drop. I'm using this with 168 zones with a 32:9 49' monitor. Another thing I did different was that instead of sticking the strip directly to the monitor I built a aluminum frame with diffuse/frosted plastic. hope my take can help anyone because your video surely helped me and was what made go for it. Oh, another thing, maybe I was unlucky or don't know better, but the corner connectors I got didn't work, very bad connection, had to use wire and solder those 3 corners. Again, thank you so much for sharing this video. Cheers
where was that light controller module was connected to?? to the monitor's usb port or computer's usb port?? also, if i dont have a monitor with usb port, will i be able to achieve the same result???
How to fix LED strip flickering issue that I am getting? after white colour showed on screen then it flickers whole strip in random colours for half a second and it repeats in random time...
I started out with an Arduino UNO and AmbiBox. Worked great. Though I recommend using an HDMI passthrough for TV the TV though, its easier to use for all sources. And my wife loves them as much as I do. I would love to use them for my PC, but not sure of the best way to set them due to my multi-monitor (3) setup.
@@seafoxc Excellent. Thank you. I was going to buy one like Govee’s but yours is the best. It’ll just take a bit of time to order the parts, but we’ll worth it.
Thank you for this! I did play around with the Ambibox Software today, before i will order the Strips, because the LED´s will go along the top only, but 3 Monitors wide. From the Software it seems, that you can move around every box individually (the ones that represent every LED, 120 in my case) and across multiple screens, but i´m unsure if the software will react in the expected way, because it neither gives you a top only nor a 3 screen wide option natively. For example: When i play Truck sims, i have the game set across all screens with a 5760x1080 Resolution. Now let´s say i drive past a streetlight ingame, and the light shines into the left half of my left screen, then i want the LED´s to react in the same way. Lighting up the wall behind the left half of the left monitor only, with the correct color from the game. Long story short, do you have any experience if it´ll work that way? Or should i have a look at "Prismatik" instead? Although this software seems outdated, with the last update 2 or 3 years ago. Thank you for your help!
Thank you for the guide! Does the leds controller have phone app functionality for when the pc is off so you can use them for static ligthing? Also, did you notice any delay when gaming at higher hz framerates?
No app where I know from. I played it using a star wars fallen order and I can't tell the difference turned on or off. but I do turn them off to play Rust because I need all the power from my rig.
No, I just use it for games and TH-cam and had the feedback that this app does not work for Netflix and other steaming services (because the app "records" the screen (just the edge)).
Mine stops working from absolutely nowhere. USB-Serial CH340 is still there, but leds just don't work. And they're good, since turning off them make them blink.
Good evening. It's really looks a great product. I have a couple of questions to make though if you can help me. The USB is connected to a USB port on the monitor?? And what about if there are black lines when you see a movie for example?? Will it gets the colors and the result will be the same?? Or it has to be in full screen mode so I can get the result that you show us?? Thank you
The USB port on my monitor is connected to my PC, so it is the same as putting it directly on the PC. The advantage of my ultra widescreen when watching movies. It is the same aspect ratio. It is the other way around when I watch videos on TH-cam, but you have a Chrome extension to make it full screen (you lose a part of the screen like it is zoomed in a little bit). In the case you have a monitor with the classic display ratio, you could also make a profile in the Ambilightbox software? Then you drag the zones where in the configuration in the exact zone you want, and it will work as expected.
DRM scripts in the player that blocks video capture, which is how this device works. video signal duplication would circumvent this but the circuitry is marginally more expensive than a basic USB microcontroller like these kits use.
Hey Guys. xI have a problem with AmbiBox. When I use the "GDI FS Aero" method (the only one that works for me), my windows lag on the monitor. Normally my monitor has 175hz and then it only feels like 30. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is and how I can solve it? Thanks in advance for the help.
If anyone else sees this tutorial: the link for the corner pieces in his bio has expired, so if you want to make this, try to find other corner pieces that have 3 connectors. I didn't check if mine had 3 so I had to manually solder the light strips together.
Amazing video and very informative!! Thank you for sharing this. I was wondering what will happen if you want multiple monitors. Is there a way to implement this feature to all my other monitors?
From what I've experienced setting this up for a 32:9 monitor using 168 capture zones +/- a zone/led. The software shows it can go up to 300 zones, so I guess you can easily set it up to 3 16:9 monitors. another suggestion, more expensive, instead of gluing the strip do the monitor I built it into an aluminum frame.
Anyone know how to make this actually work with movies? I can full screen capture TH-cam vids but as soon as I try and full screen Netflix, Amazon Prime, Rakuten, even purchased TH-cam movies, they won't work at all in Chrome or Edge. Firefox works but then Firefox won't allow you to run any licensed movies over 720p resolution.
just get Govee T1 or T2 it uses a camera on top of your screen to tell the LEDS what it sees, so that mean EVERYTHING and does require a PC at all so also no extra software of resource @@taizzle70
I bought this kit. It arrived faulty and the seller refused to refund me even after I tried to troubleshoot it with them. After sending multiple instances of proof that their product was faulty they refused to refund me. If you'd like proof of these accusations I can send you the screenshots of the chat logs. BEWARE.
I'm sorry to hear that! I have no association with the seller and payed the items full price. If I hear more complaints I will consider removing the video.
Hardest part of this tutorial is getting a girlfriend.
Damn bro 😂❤sry

then get a wife...

Hey can you send me the link on amazon? I can't find it there.
Hi, can i ask you the amazon link for the ones you've buy? I can't find anything.. thanks
It causes framedrop when gaming??
or is it because of bad settings
I feel windows 8 mode very buggy sometimes. It can't capture the screen somehow but GDI FS AERO can.
@jerry51311 settings could be better or worse depending on the GPU, idk💁♂️
Thanks for the guide, I'm going to try doing this once I've got a new monitor

Any suggestions for random flickers of random colours on the strip that aren’t on screen?
Is IT possible to get this to also Show a flat colour?

hi, I have a question, so with 3 pin connecter also fit?
Looking good, was expecting lots of lag tbh. Fancy tearing the box apart so we can see what makes it tick?
Hello Skylar ;)
Can you make this work on tv too? Or does it need to be through pc
Are these ambilight boxes safe to connect to the PC? Like malware and such wise

Does using screen capture take a hit on frames in games?
I forgot to ask before. Does this work when you’re watching Netflix? Or do those apps block the ambilight?
The app captures the screen so it works will all apps that are full screen. I checked to be sure and I can confirm it works.

Is there any difference between Ambibox and Prismatik? which is another open-source software.

just hire one for the installation, just like he did!
you checked during installation plugins, xmbc script, kodi script, mediaporta extension, playclaw? Thanks

Hi, i ordered it and completely forgot that i have a dual Monitor Setup lol. Do you think it will work?
You could try hyperionhdr or hyperion NG. It has much better color syncing and

It looks like the bottom left portion of your LED array is malfunctioning. That section is not reflecting whats on screen
I checked it and all the LED's work but the cornerpiece is the reason :-)
