When I was a kid we used to refer to him as Jones "the groans". He is still going strong at 80, and regularly appears on TV in the UK. He can still belt out a good song.

Same! My first concert was Engelbert when I was 3 years old, Tom a year later. Engelbert heard me scream his name because being 3, it took me a few songs to realize he was on stage, there in "real life ". He called me on stage and sang to me and I sang with him. He was my first crush .🤣 I was so happy because he kept calling me sweetheart. I also remember him having everyone change seats to confuse someone that went to the bathroom.🤣

Tom Jones was the cat!! He is 79 years old, and I think he still makes an appearance now and again, still doin' his thing!! I was only one-year old when that song was released, but I lived in Las Vegas many years later, and of course, Tom Jones is a legend there!! I was six years old and 67. My mother was a big fan of Elvis Presley and Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck. I had the privilege of seeing them all perform in person live. Elvis twice, Lost count how many times I saw Tom Jones. I even saw him perform in 2016 at the Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Florida. He still has an amazing voice.
He was one of the coaches on the Voice. He was encouraged to sing “It’s not Unusual”, by his fellow coaches & the audience. What I found beautiful! Was how enthusiastic his fellow coaches were when he got up to sing. Because, they weren’t even born, when Sir Tom Jones was at his prime. Yet, Jennifer Hudson, Olly Murs & will.I.am know that he’s a treasure.
