    One thing to keep in mind with the old dictionaries: There are book collectors that collect only dictionaries. If you come across an English dictionary from the 1800s, check to see if it is a dictionary for the English that were printed for them to keep up with the rapidly changing American-English lexicons. These are unique and sought after by collectors. They are more likely to be found, though, in New England than in your neck of the woods.

    Great content! I've caught the book bug after flipping a $2 GW book for $150.00 on Ebay in less a week.
    Now I want to branch out to FBA. Question: Does Amazon require a minimum number of books for each shipment? and
    Do you write off the whole $100 bin as cost of goods?
    Subscribed a few months ago and like your style of providing actionable advice AND a peek into your strategy.
    Keep up the great job! Your one of only 4 resellers I follow. So tired of the all flash nonsense out there.

    • @goldenstatepicker
      @goldenstatepicker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Doug you can put any amount in but it is best to put the weight limit in. 50LBS is the limit and you don't want to go over. The cost to ship said weight for me is $9.79. It's like MEDIA MAIL on steroids and it goes UPS. Yes, I write off the whole bin as a cost of doing business. Thanks again for watching my friend.

    Thanks so much for all the book/amazon info! I watched your other video you did recently and just set up my Amazon seller account and FBA. Now I need to get the software lined up and a thermal printer. I have several hundred books I have collected to resell and haven't listed yet. Uggh! So will scan those first. I have a pretty good eye for picking (been doing it over 20 years on eBay). I was wondering about the reject bin. You just leave that there for Goodwill or do they make you dispose of them? If you leave there, do they resell them again in another bin or do they get trashed/recycled?

    • @goldenstatepicker
      @goldenstatepicker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great Junk Store Junky. I get to leave the books there and they resell them over seas is my understanding. They get to double sell them. Kinda of a deal as I get to leave behind the duds.

    How very true on the passing of people. Time and time again, at first I would wonder why so many clothes at the thrift store would be the same size & in very good condition. Same at estate sales. It’s obvious they had ‘good pictures’ to take with them, as Joe Black (Brad Pitt) asked.

    • @goldenstatepicker
      @goldenstatepicker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They say the buy box is important, but there is so little you can do about it, as AMAZON's algorithm is unknown. All you can do is find the books, price them and you must use a REPRICER. I use REPRICEIT.

    Hey buddy I bought a big bulk load of over 500 books for $100 recently just to get started, as I'm scanning I'm finding out that probably 98% of them are getting rejected by scoutiq...any suggestions on what I should do with all of the "bad books" that I'm stuck with now? Should I give them a shot on ebay maybe?

    • @goldenstatepicker
      @goldenstatepicker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it flips fast $2 will work. I average around $8 net profit for every sale. That is pretty typical for AMAZON FBA. I do a part volume and sorting style. Reezy says take all profit.

    Hi Mike. How do you go about lining up one of the Gaylord's to scan? Do you ask to speak to a manager and get "back room" access and then scan/ keep what you want and leave the rest for them to sell in their retail store?

    • @goldenstatepicker
      @goldenstatepicker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No they are auctioned off on the dock. Basically then go for $100 no one really wants them. I then have an empty gaylord next to the one you see and toss the ones I don't want in there. They then dispose of them via a jobber. I think they go overseas.

    • @goldenstatepicker
      @goldenstatepicker  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Each book is a bit different. As far as the BUY BOX or the price they are showing, I go off of a variation of the two. Look at how many books are in etc. Your repricer should also help.

    Good video, had to watch twice.How are you separating the Ebay pile from the Amazon pile. Why not send them all to Amazon? How do you determine the condition? Do you check the insides of the books or what exactly is your way of doing it?

    • @goldenstatepicker
      @goldenstatepicker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Condition is checked at home for the amazon books that are good. They all can't go as the amount I'm allowed is limited so some have to go to EBAY. Usually older books. I could sell FBM also on AMAZON then I ship and store the books, but that is more work for me, so I sell the others that don't go on Amazon VIA EBAY. All books are checked for page condition etc when you list the book to sell on AMAZON. It's actually pretty easy to do. You just know the condition once you hold the book. The books in the plastic tubs are AMAZON ones on the ground are potential EBAY BOOKS.
