To every dumb ass in the comments who jumps into conclusions and says they stole the idea from Tesla...let me remind you that Rimac made an electric car LOOOOOOONG before Tesla became popular. Look at Rimac electric BMW M3....which he worked on for years and actually developed battery and electric motor technology in, before making the rest of the car which is this Concept. That M3 holds the Guiness world record for the fastest 1/4 mile fully electric car, about 600hp...and it has longer range than anything Tesla makes TODAY, and that electric M3 is like 5-6 years old. Rimac did what Tesla does today about 5-6 years ago as far electric powertrains and batteries go...so talk about who copied from who. But he doesn't have the typical american marketing behind him that brainwashes the worlds and makes it think anything made in america is world first. By the way...Tesla company stole the name of a scientist Nikola Tesla who was born in Croatia, where Rimac is from. How lame is that. Can't even come up with a name, how are they gonna push technology forward. If Rimac was funded by a multi-billionaire like Tesla Motors is...he'd be making cars that would make Tesla's cars look like toys. He already does, because tech in Rimac is much more advanced. Best batteries in the industry currently, and most efficient and most powerful motors...but he doesn't have funds or money to mass produce cars. That's why these cars are so expensive, every one is hand built and takes a long time. Plus, the dumb ass Croatian goverment (fucking cunts, all need to be tied to a tree and burned alive) doesn't support the car industry, or any industry, and basically doesn't even care about this company that could potentially be a world leader in electric sports cars and supercars....instead of investing money into the company and developing it, they fucking steal money, or produce electricity, sell it to other countries, and then buy electricity from some other country for twice the price of the electricity they've sold (actually true...sadly).
Sad man, lets hope his fortunes change for the better, I like his style, but can't he apply to the European Union for development grant money? Or will the Croatian government step in and want their cut?
This is certainly a cool car and deserves credit, but I think your post is pretty misguided:
1. Doesn't matter when Rimac first made an electric car - they were invented a hundred years ago.
2. This car has a longer range only because it is a two-seater and it is using such low-weight components like carbon fiber. No one can afford this car, so it is irrelevant to the goal of Tesla Motors to accelerate the development and adoption of electric vehicles for everyone - not just rich people like Rimac intends to satisfy. Telsa makes expensive cars in order to fund its development, Rimac makes this shit for fun,
3. The Tesla Model S -which this certainly looks like a ripped off version of, was introduced in a press release in 2008 and the prototype was shown in March 2009. The Rimac Concept One was not introduced until 2011. It was not sold to a single consumer until 2013.
4. Tesla Motors honors the memory of Nikola Tesla. And who gives a fuck where he or Rimac are from anyway?
5. Rimac has done nothing before Telsa Motors did it - other than manufacture a few dozen million dollar cars, big deal. The four motor concept in an electric vehicle is not new, just as Tesla's dual motors has also been conceived of before. The difference here is that Tesla's dual was out first, by far, and it is affordable to more people - even if still a luxury car.
6. Rimac's batteries are not the best, they have trade-offs just like Tesla's.

Its very pretty, I really mean that. It has a certain elegance and simplicity that modern supercars don't otherwise have. Somehow it's cheaper than a koenisegg agera, with roughly the same weight and power output, but a hell of a lot more torque. I'd take it gladly over the 'segg, and that's sayong something for me.
And now Rimac is a billion dollar company and owns Bugatti. Plus Mate is one hell of a guy, very happy for his success.

Rimac is a real contender - what sells it for me is the 500km range and fast charging. Of course, that's the concept car, what offerings Rimac brings to market will be the make or break of the company. But let's not forget that consumers after EV are primarily concerned about running cost and the environment and then fun and play. And maybe a sport saloon.

I LOVE IT! Unfortunately 99.9% of the people in the world can't afford it so build all fifteen cars and sell them to people that can afford one, but alas, they can't drive them because this car needs a closed coarse race track to really do it's business now doesn't it? I almost forgot that it's a concept car :) So I say "very cool". Now build a car that's affordable that you can compete with the rest of the car manufactures and I'll really congratulate you :)

Proud? Not really. We here in Croatia are listening about his achievements for a decade now. This guy sold one car. Yes, you "heard" well: one and only! That was few years ago. Since then he always braggs about new models, new discoveries, but we see noting really. Yes, he updated the design a bit, but that's all. The guy who bought that one car keeps it in a closed quarters like a car show and shows that he has a car like no one else has. Is that the purpose of a car? Probably he is afraid to drive it since if something goes wrong he would need to ship it across the world for a repair. There is no service for it anywhere except the manufacturer.
There is no credible evidence that any of his cars run at all. Video is not an evidence! In any video that you can find Rimac himself drives the car and you don't see what is "under the hood". Maybe it is Toyota Prius engine? There is no independent confirmation whatsoever.

I wonder what they are doing that is different from Tesla to get that 370 mile range. That is impressive. I hope they can get this technology into an affordable car in my lifetime.
I would call it power management. That's the term used most and includes control of the battery charging, discharging, regenerative breaking, standby power, max continuous power protection, heat control etc. etc.
the horsepower is amazing, but i think the real innovation is the 4 motor concept. handling just got real. this is more flexible, rimac can basically program each wheel to do whatever. current systems in supercars are pretty amazing too, but they have more limitations as they as have more physical parts for their drivetrain. rimac basically bypassed/eliminated the driveshaft and transaxle

The weight of the car of course impacts fuel efficiency somewhat but not necessarily a lot. If you drive with constant speed, the difference is about the "rolling resistance" in the tires. Anyway, I sincerely hope the car lives up to the data advertised.
Irrespective of cost, range and style ,, electric motors are really great prime movers, they are supreme on torque and engines can never match it, once a gud battery technology is available slowly combustion engines will be eradicated, very good effort by rimac

The car really looks amazing - and the concept sounds amazing. However I don't really trust it.
There are other small car producer, who are troubled with quality inconsistencies [and a lot of garage time]. It simply sounds too good to be true.
How did they developed this battery, which seems to be ahead, of other concepts?
How can they fast charge it within one hour?
Until there is no real car review, I would be carefully, what to believe.

Dom Dedic You don't need to "trust" someones opinion. I haven't said, that I do have first hand information.
However - it is not really a secret, that cars from small producers have huge issues.
Even Koenigsegg had huge issues [just read about the Agera and what happened with Top Gear UK] - oh - Gumpert had also quite some problems and many other small production cars.
I hope that Koenigsegg sorted it out - their production looks amazing - however you can't really tell... but obviously these producers don't usually do the millions of miles a large producer is test driving - and even than flaws happening [last one was the Porsche 991 GT3 engine fire problems]. So you really think, that a producer, which has no real experience and expertise can pull it off to build this kind of complex car? Possible, but implausible!
And then again there is their mysterious light weight battery technology - also possible - but equally implausible [they could sell this tech and would make so much more money with it!].
Dom Dedic Historically, cars made by smaller companies are less reliable. Even though the technology in this car seems amazing, there's just no way a team comprised of people who have never made a super car can make one as reliable as teams who have been building super cars for decades. And besides, Dominik MJ isn't saying that this car is going to be bad; he's just saying you should withhold judgement until more people have gotten their hands on the production model.

i dont know if concept one uses it but i know they are even better than lithium, also is not that hard to develop a fast charging battery, it deppends of the design isnside of it ... long story

Comparison to the Tesla S is inevitable...but folks...the Tesla is a large, heavy 7 seater sedan, costs 1/10th the price and can still do 0-60 in under 4 seconds. That's still some rapid acceleration - and quicker than 99% of all the cars out there.
I'm really surprised with some comments here. You people understand that this is concept car and not mass production car? It has new technology, made by Rimac company. And you expect to be at low price? Get serious.
Some people here don't believe in its performance because big company couldn't achieve something like this. Do you really think before you speak? THAT is why it cost that much, why it is unique, why it is breakthrough. What is more interesting, they gave almost everything in public - how it works, what is used to make it, how can it be made...
By the way, there is also Greyp G12 bike, also from Rimac company. Google it or watch on TH-cam if you wanna see something cheaper and affordable...

It's 1,000 lbs lighter than a Tesla S. 2k ft/lbs of torque is unreal. But does it really work? Tesla has made at least 50k cars, they really do work.
I'm not saying they are lying. Also, it could be that the 370 miles is possible at lower speed. Tesla Model S can get you above 400 miles when you drive it around 35mph.

Damn it man this inspires me I wish I could build electric cars, I would even build modern steam cars on the Abner Doble Principle and update that and for electric cars using the Porsche principle for a small family car something like the old Astra mk4 base to a really superfast supercar which could do at least 300 MPH.

Thsi is a well deigned car to prouve a point. electric cars are a viable option provided enough electricity is available. so this is a revolutionary car. As for the sound.. an "added feature" for those how miss engine noise, could be an artificial (multisampled for instance) engine noise, allowing you to choose or make your own..volume control linked to the throttle, mixed hroug the stereo system or on seperaty spekers/+subwoofers.There are no problems: only solutions.

All things equal, 4 motors will quadruple the mechanical friction losses. However, with no transmission, this loss isn't too big, so 4 motors could be close to 1 motor in efficiency.
