    What a fabulous treat! Seeing two of my fave podcasters in one place! It is amazing how alike your tastes are, too. Sandra, I really love that edging on your blanket, it was just what it needed! Sam, it was so cute when Sandra was trying to show us an uneven corner on her quilt and you wouldn't let her do it! Hope you both had a lovely holiday - do you celebrate Thanksgiving at all in the UK? Maybe not, but it never hurts to be grateful, does it? I think you ladies should do this again - it was great!

      Thank you so much Karleen, it's fun for us too! We definitely are drawn to lots of the same things too, it's very true! No, we don't have Thanksgiving here in the UK, although strangely, we have started having the Black Friday sales for some reason!

    That was excellent. You have a great dynamic together. I would be interested if you would go into more detail on the mathematical calculations when working how much yarn needed and number of hexagons required to complete an item. That is a weakness of mine and always end up grossly over buying yarn for an item. Thanks for the video (the only trouble is that I come away wanting to do it all, lol). Thanks from Australia 🐨🐨🇦🇺

    • @CherryHeart
      @CherryHeart  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh thank you so much! She's a treasure that Sam, so it's always lovely to get to pod with her. Yes it's not always easy to work out yarn requirements is it, especially when it comes to big projects like blankets. I'll have to say to Sam about this as it could be something we talk about next time we are together.

    Hi girls. I enjoy each of your individual podcasts so it was lovely to see you both together. I had a question about some of the yarns you were showing-the twisted type ones especially. Do you have to rewind them before you use them or do they wind off the twist as you work with them? Also had a question about cotton yarn for the cloths. I have used the sugar n cream cotton yarn but I find it hard to work with as it doesn't have any stretchiness so I find it very slow going. How do you find the cotton yarn you used? Thanks again for the fun podcast.

    • @CherryHeart
      @CherryHeart  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi and thank you so much! Yes you are absolutely right, you do need to wind up the twisted hanks before you can use them. Once you untwist it the yarn is in a big loop. Then you can wind it to use. Either the old fashioned way, with you hand winding the ball, with someone (or something) holding the loop of yarn, or you can buy a winder and swift.
      As for the sugar and cream yarn, yes I do know what you mean, I have used that one once before I think. Cotton is usually a little tougher to work, especially the non mercerised (not shiny) kind as it doesn't slide over the hook so well and is generally a bit stiffer. I do find that I can't do so much in one go when I work cotton. I do think some are definitely better than others though and although they don't have any stretchiness they seem to be softer and more 'floppy', for want of a better word! Those type seem easier to work with. Off the top of my head I can only think off the Stylecraft Classique cotton DK, which I used recently, that is quite nice and soft... but I know there are others!

    • @kerriekean7401
      @kerriekean7401 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CherryHeart Thanks Sandra for the reply. It will be something different to use a hank as up till now I have only bought yarn that is in balls. I will look around for a softer cotton yarn as I like the idea of cotton but the sugar n cream is just too hard to use. Thanks again for the reply and for the great podcast

    • @CherryHeart
      @CherryHeart  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much! I think Ellie maybe uses a heel without the 'boomerang' rows that go round the sock though for her contrasting yarn heels? Always so maybe different heel types! ❤️

    Now Sandra, when you were showing your lovely quilt and began to point out to everyone a wonky corner, Sam, your truly faithful friend, prevented you from doing so. However, when Sam was sharing her pretty purple socks, you allowed her to show she had made two different toes. We're going to have to work on your response times. LOL I'm only teasing really. I love it when you girls get together for a podcast!
