  • I added some 3" furniture risers to my Midway Classic to make the monitor more visible to me. Check out my review.
    These are the risers from amazon

    These risers are great. I added them to two of my cabs. And they actually look decent compared to other furniture risers out there.

    Thank you! I ordered 2 sets. One for my OG Street Fighter and One for my Atari 12 in 1. Both feel sturdy and brings everything to a comfortable hight (im 5'10). I wish I had these years ago.

    This is a very, very good idea. It helps with cleaning also. If you mop, water won't ruin the riser.

    That looks really nice. I particularly love the idea of the toes fitting underneath.
    But since I'm 5'8 I'm probably the perfect size for these things, but I went to Harbor Freight and found these Sticky rubbee grip pads to keep stuff from moving.
    Absolutely perfect!

    I CNC'd my own risers when they were out a year or more ago, and I made em to spec of the A1up. My first cab I used an ikea square end table and that height was PERFECT for my height which is 6'2". Only turn off was the legs were wobbly, I guess I could have CNC'd them bigger but oh well

    Because my machines are side to side as my space is tight, I would probably stick with 2x4's running the length of the row of machines. Neat idea nonetheless if you have the room.

    I think it's a great idea of course you know shorter people will want to play the games kids and such but if you don't have them around and you just want to play your self makes sense

  • @boknows8936
    @boknows8936 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice upgrade, a little pricey for what they are, lol. Anyway, you have any issues with cabinet ‘shifting’ on riser while playing vigorously (fast action with joystick) 😏 since cabinet and base dont lock together? Thnx

    • @SonicGT73
      @SonicGT73  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t have any issues with it shifting. The furniture risers have a rubbery bottom and such to them and my floor is vinyl fake wood which they stick to pretty well

    • @boknows8936
      @boknows8936 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SonicGT73 sorry, not the riser moving, my cabinet is ‘shifting’ inside the riser while playing games. Got the ms pacman/galaga 1981, and with aggressive gameplay, i find the cabinet sliding front to back, has maybe good 1/2” or so of wiggle room. Dont really want to drill into base and secure with screws?

    • @SonicGT73
      @SonicGT73  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@boknows8936 maybe I’m just not that aggressive when I play but I have no issues. I’d recommend putting the screws in to attach the riser to the cabinet that they recommend in the instructions. I don’t but if you are having issues then that should solve it

      @@boknows8936 I drilled the hell out of all my cabinets (cab and riser) and they don't move!

    I just used a cardboard box that came with the arcade, filled it with the styrofoam and placed the arcade on top, good with sitting down and good with riser for 6ft people like myself

    Nice video! I'm 6 ft 2 and the A1up height by default is fine, however I do prefer a couple inches taller. Do you think These risers will work good for me being at 6 ft 2

    • @SonicGT73
      @SonicGT73  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t see why not. I’m only 5’10” and if I stand too close on this specific style machine the placement of the marquee gets in my eyeline so that’s the reason I got them.

  • @djb1ge
    @djb1ge 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Height isn’t the issue. AIUs are perfect for sitting down at. WIDTH is the issue. I have one, but barely play it because when trying to play with another adult, it’s super-cramped. Made a Launchbox/Retroarch setup for my PC and never looked back.

  • @randomretroplays3123

      These furniture risers I got did have taller ones available. But I wanted it to be roughly the same height as my full size mortal Kombat 4 machine which the control deck is slightly taller now then the real arcade I have but screen is lower and smaller but this height was good for me

    Did or would you raise your outrun cabinet ? Would the risers interfere with the pedal assembly?

    • @SonicGT73
      @SonicGT73  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not raise outrun. You can but the riser prevents the pedals from moving around since they will hit wood if they move too far. So if you rise it up it might move depending on your floor. Carpet probably would help but hard wood, tile, or vinyl flooring like I have I think the pedals would slide around

    Will these risers work with the cocktail cabs?

    • @SonicGT73
      @SonicGT73  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t tried but the cocktail cabs aren’t a 90 degree angle as it is somewhat recessed in but it might sorta work just probably not as stable as the regular risers for the stand ups

    Such a shame Arcade1ups are still short even with a riser installed! 5'10 is not like you abnormally tall or anything !
