I noticed when you were in Cuba an old school trainer insisted on the lead palm facing your face
    Mind sharing the differences?

I think this is where cuban's and russian's are always really good in the amateurs and good pros, but not "Great" pros. They are so good at the text book art of boxing. They almost lose a lot of the creativity. Not saying it's bad thing. Just something I noticed. Spence vs Ugas for example. Spence just flowed better. Even though Ugas has great fundamentals

You do know that you are only seeing less than 1% of Cuban boxers in the pros. All of these are aged seasoned amateurs and ALL compete on the World elite level. The only time when this can be evaluated is when the givernment lifts the ban and Cuba develops a Pro system. Then the face of boxing will change, as it did in the 60s, when Cuba developed its amateur system .

Well noted! This has been my criticism of the Cuban style as well. In defence of their technique one has to admit that a small percentage has turned to the professional ranks relative to the amateur program. Now that the ban on professional boxing has been lifted its going to be interesting to see their overall impact on the sport.

@@Charlessalbox Yep look at how many Cubans are in the Hall of Fame pre communism - Kid Chocolate, Kid Gavilán, Sugar Ramos, and Jose Napoles
