I saw a lot of HD DVDs as I collected both formats when they came out, had a PS3 and a stand-alone HD DVD player. HD DVD was technically the inferior product because it could hold less data than Blu-ray, meaning that Blu-ray in almost all cases had better sound. But it was better for the consumer because it was region free, something that wasn't that heavily enforced on Blu-ray until after HD DVD crashed. I think I owned around 80 releases when it died, and ended up taking a huge loss when I got rid of both my player and the discs. And now a lot of the HD DVD discs have started failing from disc rot, something to be aware of if someone decides to start collecting them. Also, while that drive was pretty handy and also worked on PC, the disadvantage was that if you used it with a 360, you were limited to the optical output when it came to sound, meaning that your movies' sound would at best be on level with standard DVD.

Still have my 360 HDDVD player hooked up. Cool little accessory. Got it for like $10 at Kmart on liquidation after format war was over. I have a pretty healthy collection of HDDVDs because everyone basically gives the stuff away.
Glad I was able to stop in Thursday before we left to come back home to Ohio... Nice to see the store still doing so well. Snagged another old school WWF title to add to the collection, too! Thanks!
That Gamester is pretty cool. I like new ways to play even if it may not be as good because it's something to get the hang of so as to breathe more replayability into racing games. I'm using tilt controls! Where my MK8Dlx online gold-wheel-status racers at? With Wii Wheel and Switch tilt controls I personally find the added fun and genuine intuitiveness of it make it worth it for racing games and who knows, it may be as accurate as stick controls or maybe it even has more precision i.e. as much or more gradients of turning than stick. As for the Gamester it'd be "I'm using one-handed-wheeling-with-my-other-hand-as-a-mount-or-leverage controls!" 😄 A fun name for it too and a good way to bookend the video with us perhaps being called gamesters being better than radjunkers albeit maybe less specific. Maybe radjunkies? That may be even worse 🚬 😆
I have that HD DVD player which I got from Circuit City when they were closing. Still have the power cord, and I still actually use the USB cord as my PS3 controller charge cable. Box is long gone though.
I have a working Xbox 360 HD-DVD player with the power cord and a few hundred disks that i do watch on occasion. I think there were over 400 disks relesed here in the US i have somewhere between 2 and 3 hundred.
Any disc rot? WB HD DVD discs, in particular, are notorious for rotting and becoming unplayable. The 360 player is good for ripping the movies into mkv files while the disc is still good. So if the disc goes bad, you still have a copy of it.
I had a few original gameboy and gameboy color games and my original gameboy color just stopped working. I tried to fix it but couldn’t, so I bought another one on Amazon. When I got it most of my games that worked perfectly fine on the old one didn’t work on the new one. Granted, this was like 5 years since any of these were played but I tried cleaning them how you were doing it in this video and holy shit, I needed multiple cue tips for one game each they were so filthy.

I was selling TVs at Sears during the whole Blu-ray/HD dvd race. Both were rich man things at the time. We always had a selection of a dozen HD dvd titles. Another interesting question I would get all the time back then was how someone could get HD from a Wii. These people would buy their first HD tv and the kids would always be concerned about that. So I always sold them the Wii component cable set 😂
I really love the N64 - it was my first true game console (up till then I had only seen the TV Boy 2). Ocarina of Time was the first 3d game i ever played, what a start! 🙂
HD-DVD, we hardly knew ye. I remember seeing them on the shelves at my local Best Buy (no places like RadJunk where I grew up, unfortunately) and being a Sony kid, hoping that Blu-Ray would win out. I’m not saying it was all me who’s responsible for the win, but hey, every little bit counts, right? 😂
I read that wheel has analog and digital modes; could it be that it was set to digital instead of analog, hence the poor accuracy and sudden movements? Remembered me of when I bought the Mad Catz wheel for PSX and struggled with it, until I discovered it was set to digital.
That copy of MegaMan Zero has been warped, meaning that so much heat was applied to the plastic that it started to become flexible and that part drooped down. Not surprising considering the Florida sun. Edit: damn it. Also better to use madden 07 over a game like madden 08
As much as I love the look of glossy black consoles, that only goes for when they’re brand new, so then I’m in charge of keeping it nice looking and not someone else who doesn’t give a shit

The HDDVD player was great. I thought they were better than blu ray.... but the ps3 price made it the cheapest way to watch the HD. So blu ray won

For the normal cleaning we use simple green primarily. Anything electronic we use isopropyl alcohol!
