When I saw the title I had a feeling Cody was able to come home permanently. That is so incredibly exciting!! What a beautiful blessing to your children to have both parents present each and every day with them. That’s the dream!
We start homeschooling July 1st and just do 2 days a week until the end of the harvest season. Then we move to 4 days a week. We've never struggled to meet our 180 day requirement! Homeschool is infinitely more efficient.
Just a quick note to say Thank you. You allow everyone into your home and allow us to "hang" with you guys through out your days and weeks. Perspectives change when you actually get to observe things while they are happening. Congratulations on the lifestyle, the big change, and the channel success and future! We love you guys!
The primary purpose of school is to make parents available for paid work outside the home. It's not about the kids at all. You can tell this when governments get a 'disadvantaged area' where kids aren't getting a good start in life, and the solution is always more daycare, never teaching or enabling parents to parent.
Refreshing to hear you don’t actually LOVE being in the kitchen. I love feeding my family, but certainly the kitchen part isn’t my favorite. Some homesteaders make it look like spending hours in that kitchen is the best part of their day. We all have our cup of tea.
Same for me, my husband and I are trying to produce more of our own food (though I wouldn't call it homesteading yet) and the most annoying part is the cooking. Especially the peeling and cutting of vegetables, it always takes me forever... I try to delegate the potatoes to my husband but I have to be careful not to overdo it, as he already has to cut the wood for heating! :D We don't have kids, but both of us work full time, so it's quite interesting to have some tips how to make this work besides a full time job and keeping some down time for us. That's something I really need. BTW we're in the south of France. Winters are quite mild compared to yours! :)
if your ever feeling bad about not home schooling on monday. my daughter only goes to school 4 days a week and makes straight A's so your doing great and keep up the great work.
You guys amaze me!! Keep it up. We have 5 that we allow to learn freely on our homestead. We don’t even use the word “school”. There are so many ways and things to learn. Kids THRIVE. They may never learn all the things school kids learn but they are so enriched. My 17 year old does almost all the cooking/baking. Her twin manages all our animals and helps me out in the gardens. their 3 younger siblings help with everything else. Life IS learning. We love it.
My sister and I are just beginning our homesteading journey. Grateful for your channel and others who are educating the public. I'm of the opinion that everyone needs to grow food if they can. It's so nice to be able to share with neighbors and trade.
I'm a teacher of young children in a public education setting. I can tell you without a doubt the transitions take up a large part of our day. Transitioning 20 or more children takes time and that is every single transition not just changing rooms. Also assisting 20 children takes time so if I were helping 4 or 5 children chop out sounds to write a sentence it would be much much quicker then doing the same with four or five times the number of children. I absolutely believe that an hour and a half a day of almost 1 to 1 teaching and support is going to meet the mark as long as the skill of the educator is fairly solid.
This is true and it makes it hard on kids who need more one on one, and hard on a teacher to be individual to each student. Many kids get passed along not learning how to read or do basic math. It’s not the teachers fault it’s just that the class has to keep going and those who don’t “get it” just get left behind. But they call it “no kid left behind” because they just pass them to the next grade… it’s sad but I had to pull my daughter from school because she was going to 5th grade but could not do kindergarten work. But I in 3 years I have her up to a 3rd grade level in reading and math. The school had her in specific programs and things but it was not enough for her. Some kids need more attention and can’t get it in school. Especially if they are autistic and have learning disabilities.
That is absolutely fantastic that Cody is able to stay home with the family! And I couldn't agree more about resting in the winter. We work hard so that when winter does arrive, we can focus on rest. Doesn't mean that we are lazy by any means. I am about to begin making a wool mattress for my oldest. We raise sheep, so I have been collecting wool diligently in hopes we will all have wool mattresses in the future. 😍 Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We had a lovely holiday, full of feasting on homemade, homegrown goodness and ending the day with reading aloud by the fire, while my husband and the children whittled and carved. ❤️
I just love your channel. I will never become a full on homesteader, mainly because I’m 60, and live in a development (in the country though). But my husband and I have a nice raised bed garden, and I’m dedicated to learning how to make my own ferments, sour dough, bone broth and preserving our garden produce. We are in NW Ohio. I love finding fellow Buckeyes who are living interesting lives! I hope to teach my grown kids and eventually my grandson the ways to live simply and intentionally. Thanks for the inspiration! (And go Bucks!)
What do the kids do to entertain themselves on your Monday reset? What does their day look like? I’d love to see a day in the life of homeschooling/ homestead kids.
I think it is really neat that you guys are doing your youtube full-time. It is nice to be at home and not out in the rat race of the world. It is so peaceful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Hugs and blessings to you always
Congrats! Praying for you guys and the schedule, adjustments and all that comes with this new step. May God bless this and bring fruit from your faithfulness. Your content has been such an inspiration and help as our little family sets out on a similar route.
Great to hear that you have both found a way to spend all of you time on the homestead. Thanksgiving is gone and I'm looking forward to Christmas. We will be traveling back to Nebraska for our grand daughter's college graduation. Lots to celebrate for us so I wanted to take this time to wish y'all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. God bless y'all and keep growing!
Hi Codi, congratulations on meeting your goal of quitting your job and working on the homestead full time. Michelle is so incredibly organized with her Monday meal prep so that was interesting to learn from. Your kids are really blessed with being home schooled and having both of you at home to teach and take care of them. Exciting days ahead to Mattie's new calf and all that goes with it. Best wishes to your family as you grow your channel and homestead. Looking forward to your future videos to see how everything develops.
I have learned what the immune system is and how it works in 2019 (right after COVID was announced). Since then I was never sick, not even once, because I give my immune system what it needs to keep me healthy: Vitamin D (most essential nutrient for your body) crom canned cod liver which I eat the way it is Vitamin C - either sauerkraut or bell peppers, which have the most vitamin C Zinc - sometimes I take pilled zinc, but mostly food. My friend who listened to me and feeds his 7yo son, who was always sick (kindergarten and other stuff), now his son doesn't get sick, so does my friend!
Great video, thanks for sharing. Congrats on being home full time! Tremendous accomplishment! I think a lot of families are striving for the same and it’s reflected on how many views this video has. That’s my families goal. Again, thanks for sharing.
You know that our Father in Heaven has blessed you and guided you to this! I am so proud that you will be home with your family enjoying them while you are able to work and make a living. God bless
I found a place locally that carries the brand of groceries you spoke about in a different video. It is a local Amish store and the price for me is much cheaper than azure standard and I am able to go get what I need when I need it at a lower price than azure standard.
I'm so glad that we found your channel. We're just north of Cincinnati, and doing everything we can on 1/2 acre. Thanks for showing us what is possible for a family on 5 acres! Very impressive.
Exciting times, full time at home and full time youtubers A time of rest for the winter and a new baby calf on the way, animals still need tending too. Well done family. I just love your channel. I wish you all the best❤❤❤
Your channel is growing fast and is now one of my top two favorite channels. I only watch TH-cam channels. No TV. You two are doing such a great job of keeping content interesting. Love it. Maybe make one or two more videos a week, lol! Enjoy. I love all the details and tips you both leave for us and how simple and informative you both are when explaining what you are doing.
We do the same thing on Mondays, but I call it "Maker's Day Monday". The kids pick a project that they want to work on (parent approved) and focus on that for the day. At the end of the day, they have to tell the family about it at dinner. I don't know how old yours are (mine are grades 10, 8, 5, 3), but even very littles can do play-doh or something like that. My bunch absolutely LOVE Maker's Day and it has resulted in many home-made boardgames and art projects. My daughters are prolific writers and have produced novels, graphic novels, and animations. My sons are builders and have made giant trebuches & garden projects. In our state, we have to log hours & lesson plans but that's it. I give a full day of school credit for Mondays.
Watching you guys is so refreshing. You’re one of my favorite homestead families to watch. Also, when Michelle was explaining the resting period, all I could think of was hibernation 😂. Storing the food for the winter and resting for the next gardening season.
Congrats Cody on being able to stay home with your family. I see the quality in your videos and that is one of the reasons I like them so much. My husband was able to work from home when our kids were young (I was a SAHM) and it made all the difference. Good luck!
So thrilled that your homeschooling routine is working. To others who might not know, please be aware that each state writes its own homeschooling laws. Make sure you follow the laws set forth by your own state. If I followed their routine, I'd be breaking all kinds of laws. Do your own diligence!
I've been non stop watching all your videos and love to see and hear how you have started your homesteading life and tips etc I'm excited to get ready for the homesteading life slowly ♥️ thank you from New Zealand 😊
If you are willing, would share the books that you are reading… Some that really helped you this past year and some that is on your shelf to read for this next year? I love reading all sorts… Practical, self-help, inspirational, entertaining novels, the list goes on! I ❤ 📚
I recently found your channel and have binged just about every video. I've used Masterbooks for three years and I love it! Thanks for all you guys share.
❤Wow that's good! When I read the announcement, I already thought of such news. Wonderful, I'm so happy for you. You will enjoy it and everything will be easier for your family. If you can concentrate on one thing, everything will be easier and more successful. Congratulate you from the bottom of my heart. Michelle and the children will be very happy. Thanks for sharing, I'm excited to see what happens next for you. The number of subscribers is constantly increasing, I am very happy for you. ❤
I've been obsessed with your channel for the last week and I've pretty much had a video going while I've been working or driving the entire time. Thank you for what you're doing. You're inspiring and I respect you guys. I would love to see a video on Michelle teaching us how to make her bread. She makes it look easy!
Yeah! Thanks 😊 Looks like y’all are on the right track. Keep it up! If you haven’t already I’d recommend getting coaching from VidIQ, a consultation with Video Creators, and/or listening to both of their podcasts.. that kind of thing has really helped us move forward!
I love what you say about the fall and winter. I grew up in a small farm town and I feel like it has totally changed how I view the cold months. Its a time to slow down, recharge, and learn new things for the following year. Every year I look forward to my winter reading list and spending more time with family or friends. I'm grateful for winter instead of hating it.
Hi guys its summer here in Australia I just came across your channel and am enjoying your posts immensely I went online to Amazon and ordered the liquid smoke, congratulations on all the amazing things you do for your home and family.
Congratulations. It is tough working full time jobs outside the home and TH-cam and home chores l. Your channel was recommended and I’m glad it was. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
I love the idea of homeschooling your kids. That's just what I love the most. I also love the process and the steps you going through. It's all about realistic and continued learning. I was really surprised when you talked about public schools and how the number of pupils may effect the learning-teaching thing. A total of 20 pupil is like the minimum in my country! We deal with a total of 40 or 45 per class in where I live ! And that's just so inconvenient!!!!! Can you please share with me the books and sources u use for homeschooling your kids? Thank you
Personally i love elderberry kombucha as elderberry is great at keeping away sickness, can't wait till i can make it with elderberries from my own plants that i am going to be planting this spring.
I am so fascinated with all of the loose leaf tea michelle makes. I wish you all had a list of things to plant for teas. Id love to have a tea garden& a complete herb garden too. And a small collection of the marinades michelle uses would be nice as well.
Loving your content more and more with every new update. After all the work you both put in during the warmer months, you both deserve to take that step back a bit during the winter and wind down. As for home schooling your children.... what you are teaching them is invaluable.. the school of life and self sustainability. Cracking job. Also I am not sure why you are not a fan of cooking, your meals always look so well planned and executed. Keep up the amazing lifestyle and good luck to you all for your future... Oh.. I'd just like to add... your children are beautiful.
When I saw the title I had a feeling Cody was able to come home permanently. That is so incredibly exciting!! What a beautiful blessing to your children to have both parents present each and every day with them. That’s the dream!
And the kids will be learning practical (important) life skills!
True education! We were never meant to be cooped up in a classroom 8hrs, 10months out of the year.
That’s how kids should be raised
Now we need a “what we eat in a week” dinner edition video! Those all sounded great!
I like the idea, thanks!
We start homeschooling July 1st and just do 2 days a week until the end of the harvest season. Then we move to 4 days a week. We've never struggled to meet our 180 day requirement! Homeschool is infinitely more efficient.

Thank you so much. Really glad you’re here 😊
I love that you include your personal mental and physical health before caring for the kids - it’s sooimportant
You are SO right...there is SO much "dead time" in school...it's often just a free baby sitting service in too many cases.
The primary purpose of school is to make parents available for paid work outside the home. It's not about the kids at all.
You can tell this when governments get a 'disadvantaged area' where kids aren't getting a good start in life, and the solution is always more daycare, never teaching or enabling parents to parent.
So happy for you both. Teamwork is everything and working a homestead is more than a full time job!
Yes! Thank you!
Congratulations to Cody, to all of you! Enjoy 💖

Thank you so much!
Hello from northeast Ohio!! Nice to see another Ohio family working the homestead ❤
Welcome!!
if your ever feeling bad about not home schooling on monday. my daughter only goes to school 4 days a week and makes straight A's so your doing great and keep up the great work.
whats going on in the spring garden?, i got my radishes cilantroand spring onions in the green house all popping! woo hoo, it's here.

Congrats Cody and Michelle. Please post the recipe for the infusion tonic.
It’s not something we make. We get it from Moringa Vinga. There’s a link for it in the description.
The "Grab" counter. Lol.

Thank you so much, Ben! Thanks for sticking with us for so long.. It’s great to see you in the comments every time 😊
You guys get more done in one morning than I do in a week but im inspired. I am learning even in my 6th decade of life.
Congrats Cody!! This is so exciting for you guys! I can’t wait to see more content now that you’ll have more time! So happy for y’all! 🙌🏻
Thank you 😊
Congratulations, Cody and Michelle, on being full time home steaders.
Thanks!
You guys have really pleasant voices and you both look gorgeous on top of amazing work ethic and family love. Fingers crossed for 100K!
Thank you so much! I was hoping for it by Christmas, but it doesn't look like we'll quite make it 😉

Yay!!! Love seeing your family be able to do full time on the homestead!!
I also love the camera work in this video! The extra shots and things in the meal prep section was fun!
Good for y’all, best wishes for great success
Thank you!
Yayyy congrats Cody I’ve been watching for a while so happy for you guys, your growth, and How God is glorified in your lives. Well done🎉❤❤
It's little things in the cinematography, like panning or a sweep, added touches that speak to me! 👍🏽
Good to hear 😊
Awesome to see you get the opportunity to be on the homestead full time 🙌 keep crushing guys!
Thanks so much!
I'm so glad that we found your channel. We're just north of Cincinnati, and doing everything we can on 1/2 acre. Thanks for showing us what is possible for a family on 5 acres! Very impressive.

I love it! Getting them to tap into their creativity is so important and rewarding.
OMG good for you two!!! So happy for you all that you can both work from home now!! ❤❤❤

Really enjoyed the video. I love all the meal ideas!❤️ Having your kids read is wonderful. My mom had us do that and I love reading as a result.
YAY! This is super exciting! I'm so happy for both of you. I LOVE the videos so much and I have learned a million things from your family.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoy!

Its a time to slow down, recharge, and learn new things for the following year. Every year I look forward to my winter reading list and spending more time with family or friends. I'm grateful for winter instead of hating it.
So stoked for you guy!!! Love the change for you, what an accomplishment.
Thanks so much!
Hi guys its summer here in Australia I just came across your channel and am enjoying your posts immensely I went online to Amazon and ordered the liquid smoke, congratulations on all the amazing things you do for your home and family.
Awesome! Thank you!
Congratulations. It is tough working full time jobs outside the home and TH-cam and home chores l. Your channel was recommended and I’m glad it was. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
whatever you did for marketing worked bc i never saw your channel til now! hello :}
😁 Howdy!
Loving talks videos and how honest you guys are. I’m excited to start my very first garden this year!
That’s great! Good luck!
So happy to hear Cody is full time at home! Good for the family. Thanks for sharing and teaching that this way of life is possible. God bless you!
Thank you
We use Masterbooks. We love it!
That's amazing that you can be home full time with your family and on the homestead
Great video! Congratulations on your “retirement”. 😄 Looking forward to everything you have in store for us over the Holidays and next year!
Not quite sure about the retirement part, but thanks 😉
Congratulations Cody and family! What a wonderful thing to have Dad at home! A true blessing!

Personally i love elderberry kombucha as elderberry is great at keeping away sickness, can't wait till i can make it with elderberries from my own plants that i am going to be planting this spring.
That’s great!
Wonderful lifestyle for a lovely family! Thanks for sharing.

Sounds great!

Thank you so much 😊
I am so fascinated with all of the loose leaf tea michelle makes.
Thank you so much 😊
