It's weird that I cannot find a single photo of the 9 cassette books on tape (or audiobook) of this version read by Bob Askey. Not on ebay - no where. I just want to see the artwork. It has to exist somewhere.
that's cuz it sounds like it's been copied from a cassette tape or possibly a record. at the very beginning it says something about side a. I dont know if records used the same "side a/side b" naming scheme but I know tapes did.
No way. It's so soothing to fall asleep or just relax with. There is something comforting about his voice. Like old black and white movies. I can't stand half the narrators these days. I have yet to find a single woman narrator that doesn't make me want to rip my ears out.
Your picture is beautiful! But I have to disagree with you, this is an ancient story with a legendary tale. His cryptic voice is perfect for the mood. Somtimes you just got to appreciate the nostalgia
I loved this book as a kid. The old narrator is a comfort to listen to
This will forever be one of my most favorite books of all time. I try to listen to it every Autumn

Never read it as a kid but I did see the movie as a child. Great movie. The book is pretty 'Fantastic' too 😊 5 💥
Thank you for posting this! I love this story! It's a little fuzzy but the narration is so good!

Awsome story. Thanks
Magical 💗
I know the chances of this being answered are slim to none, but I have to know if anyone has any info on this version of the audiobook?
I've found something that said it was released by NLS Cassette in 1984 (even though the audio says 1983)
I think the narrator is very good
Thank you!
1:36:20 is Artax's final lines.

Poor Artax 💔
Artax killed me as a kid, but Rockbiter haunts me as an adult.

Oi?
We need an updated narrator. This sounds like one of those old school, how to videos they put out in like the 50s and 60s

There is a more recent audiobook with a clearer, more younger narrator but I personally think this guy is more fitting for this story
