    Really useful video- clear and user friendly. Never thought ever before that elbows should be lover than your palms. Gonna change the bars!

      It's way more comfortable, aerodynamic and it locks you into position. Good luck Kirill

      Hi there
      What's yr opinion about oval chainring? Does it helps to climb uphill easier? I know that Froome uses same.

    • @custombikefit466
      @custombikefit466  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kirill, I am a fan of oval and the osymetric rings (which Froome uses). You do have to be careful with these though as they are typically bigger than the standard chain rings and unless you have good power to weight you can find yourself in trouble. I would start with the oval rings and then progress to the osymetric

    • @kirillstikhin5198

      i did not catch your thought- oval and osymetric are not the same? Have no idea of my power to weight ratio as i never measured same. Weinght 77 kilo height 177 cm. I have no problem by riding flat road as appeared in my tacx i genius during winter but when it comes to ups&downs outskirts roads during summer i'm loosing the speed and become exhausted- 20-30 minutes and i'm ruined.

    I know it’s been quite some time since you released this video but what are your thoughts on the “mantis position” that you’ll occasionally see during races? Do you think it’s a superior position vs the standard?

    • @custombikefit466
      @custombikefit466  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great question Spin2 Win. I really like the "mantis position". If you look to the track/velodrome you'll see that many of the riders are adopting this position as, in most cases, it's the fastest. However, the track surface is smooth, consistent and predictable, whereas a lot of triathlon courses are anything but. The 'fastest' position isn't always the most sustainable, so I like to take into account rider experience, their bike handling skills and the terrain on which they will train and race when I bike fit. I often spend a good deal of time talking through and demonstrating hand position - whether that's for road, TT or triathlon.

      There's no hard and fast rule, It really depends upon the individual and their fit

    putting a bottle in there heats up the liquid and affects your fluid intake, as youll be drinking warm fluid = more fluid to do same job. i'd also like to say i ave no clue about this sport. But it looks like that would happen.

    • @custombikefit466
      @custombikefit466  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Where would you put one to keep it cool Tony?

    • @tonyquigley6543
      @tonyquigley6543 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@custombikefit466 could you turn it sideways and hang it between the drop bars somehow. that bottle would cause alot of drag if it was sideways though!

    I’m enjoying the bike so far th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.

    What are the downsides of riding like this? It looks inherently instable and difficult to make safety maneuvers.

    would have been better if the camera didn't focus on baldy rather than what he was talking about eg - how exactly was the water bottle secured on the bars?
