@@bubbafug00gle51 Nah, you’re only an inspiration if you find a good way to deal with the bad stuff/make it through. The worst thing would be to not make it or find a way to deal with it.
Every TH-camr did one of these in 2019, and all I learned was some surprising trivia about those people. Merphy did this in 2020, and I learned how to live confidently. Amazing video.

Gretchen from Mean Girls is actually a Hallmark movie star now and she has about fifty Christmas's every year.
And you're right about Charizard being the coolest, but ironically it was because he was deliberately meant to be the most difficult option, as your two first gyms are resistant to your Same-Type-Attack moves (Fire in this case, the two gyms being Rock and Water)
Bulbasaur was the easiest for having super effective S-T-A moves, and Squirtle was the 'medium' difficulty for being super effective against Rock, but not Water.

You should do a video about your illness if it's not too personal for you to share. A lot of people find comfort in seeing people who have had the same struggles as themselves share their stories. Also, I'm a fellow Kentuckian; Louisville to be exact. Born and raised. I always get a kick out of finding TH-camrs from my state. :)

I mean you definitely don't look older than that, but you're married and have a son and a big house... I never thought about your age, but I think I just assumed you were in your early 30s because of those "accomplishments"... My brother (who's 18 years older than me) only arrived at that stage at 41 😅

my boyfriend and his sister could do the whole dialogue from the emperor's new groove! Now they can only quote half of the movie. You are the only one I know besides those two who loves the movie that much xD
Me and my brother could do the whole movie 10 years ago, now I thinks I would be able to do around 50%. But it's still a great movie!

My husband and I can do the whole movie probably. We usually work in a related quote into our daily conversation on average 4 days of the week.

Agreed! In my experience, people who have never experienced depression before just do not get how miserable and debilitating is. I really appreciate how she speaks so openly about it. In my opinion, it makes all of us who have had depression at some point in our lives OR are currently going through it feel a lottt less alone.

Charmander is literally the hardest to start with because the first gyms are rock and water.... But go off lol
Except Brock's rock types have garbage special defense so Ember takes a chunk of their health regardless, and they have no rock type moves to kill Charmander so it doesn't matter. Misty is hard regardless of what you pick because Starmie is overpowered at that level, even Ivysaur has a hard time taking Bubblebeam.
I hope now you allow yourself to relax a bit more and don't think about reading or watching show as a waste of time ! And your childhood made me feel so depressed but seeing you smile today and hearing about your amazing family put a smile on my face.

I came from the one piece videos the moment I heard how she talked about Luffy. I thought she was my kind of people. She truly is a spectacular woman. I haven't read a regular book in so long, but watching her other videos. Makes me want to.
Your experience in school with confidence is similar to mine. I was incredibly shy and wouldn’t speak much in front of groups of people. So in high school I decided to join the speech and debate team to get over that. I won’t go into detail how many times I was physically ill before competitions that first year. But I ended up loving it and majored in communications in college.
You talking about your childhood disease that could have easily killed you made me tear up. I have type 1 diabetes and as a teenager it means I have to be very careful about everything I do. Finding people who understand that you have to be careful or die connects you with them. ❤️

Oh, my dad's from Illinois too. Came to Canada when he was six, though, or, rather, came with his mom. Good thing too, or else I wouldn't have been born. And my siblings too. And my nieces and nephew, who are very, VERY cute. You see how everything connects, though?

Like, I've seen a few of your videos before but going that extra mile to blend in your personality with your channel and the rest of your videos really helps tip the balance between a person like me being just a casual viewer and becoming a regular subscriber. I feel like booktubers (or TH-cam channels in general with a healthy growth within their channel) would do well to adopt this "strategy" to get more people interested beyond seeing what amounts to a talking head critiquing books or the genre they're interested in 💯 (I know it's not really a "strategy" because you're being genuine, which most people can't fake, but still: props!)

I agree about being a rule follower because of illness early in life. It made me a worrier, for sure, and more serious, but it kept me on a very straight road. That’s an interesting aspect of health that I hadn’t considered really. 🤔

Alright for Pokemon Red! I first got that game when I was ten and didn’t put it down for nearly six years. I just kept repeating it and got all 150 of the a few times.
I start with grass type mostly, because he’s usually the strongest that I can give the HM Cut to.
Not that I've done either, but I wonder if rock climbing would help with toe wrestling.
About the 'surprisingly confident' comment... I have had the opposite opinion. I've always felt you portrayed yourself as much more confident than you actually are. I have watched through most of your backlog and your vulnerable streak shows through now and then. That happens less in your videos from the last year. I'm willing to bet this channel has gone a long way in helping, and good for you Merphy! I know how difficult it is to cultivate genuine confidence. You have a lot to be proud of!

Omg the same about being productive. I only "allow" myself to watch booktube while Im getting ready for the day, eating lunch, ect, or physically unable to do something productive at the time. With 3 kids, there is ALWAYS something to do. Why am I like this.

Your Pokémon answers, put you in goat status. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone express how I feel about the newer generations of Pokémon better than you just did. None of them compare to the original 151. I also agree with you that Iroh from Avatar the Last Airbender might be one of the greatest characters of all time. I actually got into Chinese Tea appreciation because of him. You might be one of my favorite people online!
That's just pure nostalgia talking, there's absolutely no argument to make to say that the original 151 look better than Gen 2 and 3, objectively those two just have way better designs. People only focus on the things they don't like about future gens, but only focus on what they like about gen 1, since they seem to pretend stuff like grimer, jinx, hitmonchan, magnemite, voltorb etc never existed, they only focus on how good dratini looks, or mewtwo, gyarados, the starters, etc, gen 1 had a lot of horrible designs.
