    How do you like that inflatable? I’m considering getting one like this. Any issues, leaks? Is it somewhat stable?

    • @adventureswithosidekayakguy
      @adventureswithosidekayakguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Hey there! I like the Scout a lot, the one in the video is a 430, it’s 14 feet long it’s the longest version Scout Inflatable‘s makes. I first started out with a 365 which is 12 feet long, after two years I wanted something bigger as I started taking friends out and it’s a lot more spacious.
      Leaks, everyone’s biggest concern is putting a hole in inflatable boat,kayak, paddle board, you name it. You know, accidents do happen, I’ve put in several holes over the five years of owning a Scout. And it’s not going to pop and go flat like a balloon like everyone thinks. The material is a thick flexible PVC. The only time I’ve made holes or had holes is from accidentally dropping fish, that was during my younger years. I still make accidents like that to this day but it’s not an issue. I also take a lot of new people out on the water, they sit at the front of the boat so there’s a bunch of pin holes in the pontoons. It’s a very easy fix, I take some gorilla glue out on the water with me the stuff that dries in a couple of seconds. Hole is fixed and I don’t need to put any additional glue on it when I get home it’s already good to go again. Now if you do get a hole while you’re out on the water, it’s not the end of the world, mind you you’re most likely going to be out during the day in the sun, and that he will constantly be filling up the pontoons.-back in 2017 there was a tournament that I fished with a friend, I dropped a sculpin on the pontoon, all seven of its back spines stuck in, we had air coming out. We fished the remaining five hours of the tournament as we were only 30 minutes in ha ha. When we got back to land, we had lost about 30% of our air. It was a little uncomfortable sitting at an angle, but we did not sink, did not take on any water, and there was hardly a difference in the movement. The Motor was sitting a tad bit slanted but it’s still got from point a to point B.-when I got home I got a bottle of soapy water and looked for the hole, deflated the pontoon and patched it up. I have some videos on the channel that shows how to look for a hole and fix it. I apologize for the giant essay, but would prefer people to know all the nooks and crannies so they know what they’re getting themselves into and problems that may arise and how to overcome them. Like I mentioned before, accidents happen but it’s totally fine. You’re not gonna sink, there’s three separate chambers, both pontoons and the floor.
      Stability. They’re pretty stinking stable. I like to stand and fish as sitting down afterwhile gets a little uncomfortable. I can stand with an extra person, we can both move around and not worry about falling over. The boats by themselves in the water act as a suction cup as the bottom is completely flat which certainly helps in a little bit of chop.
      I hope that answers your questions, if you have any more feel free to reach out. I have more videos on this channel, DIY and out on the water, I also provide two links below this text, the first is my DIY page for the scout boats, my older posts have the short version in my newest posts have the long version that I currently own. The second link is a Facebook group, other Scout owners are in there, we post DIY‘s, get together‘s, and ask for others feedback‘s when an issue arises.

      I wish they would allow it up and down the coast at more spots. Only La Jolla and Leffingwell is allowed. I’ve seen people launch their Boston whalers at La Jolla which is pretty cool. Sometimes they get their trailer stuck though.

    Nice video! I also want to have an inflatable, do you need to register it or take it as kayak? Where can you launch the boat? In La Jolla shores I only see kayaks with no motors. Thanks

      Hey there! yes, unfortunately if you want to put an outboard on a boat you do need to register it. I got mine registered at AAA. I forgot how much the original price was but every 2 years I pay $30 to renew it.
      Here is a Google map link to La Jolla Shores boat launch.

      This next link is from the city of San Diego, if you scroll down you will see where it mentions vessels being allowed to be launched la jolla shores.

      You are talking to a cheapskate! I’m very simplistic, I don’t care for big name brands. I am happy with Walmart gear. I like to use anywhere from 10 to 20 pound test for calico. I like to use crank baits and swim baits. As for the reel, I like using spinners, but I do use bait casters as well.

    Great video and entertainment from the Drone.
    Good to see the 430 Scout in action and pushed along with the Yamaha 8hp.
    Enjoyed watching your fishing technique - you certainly had some fun - and far more productive than beach fishing!
    Just waiting fir my 430 to be delivered - and the Yamaha outboard seems to be a good choice.
    ePropulsion Spirit electric also under consideration but expensive - your thoughts?

    • @adventureswithosidekayakguy
      @adventureswithosidekayakguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Electric? I’ve heard bad things about electric motors such as trolling motors in the salt water, overtime they corrode quicker. I understand one person bought a propane outboard and it took a dump on him within the first week. Gas seems to be the way to go. But it certainly doesn’t hurt trying something new!

      @@adventureswithosidekayakguy I’m looking to buy a sea eagle pontoon boat. How do you think it would work out there it’s 11 foot long

    • @adventureswithosidekayakguy
      @adventureswithosidekayakguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The one in the video that I have is 14 feet. You got to understand it’s going to be basically like a kayak just more elevated off the water, and of course inflatable. You’re on a small platform so you’re definitely going to rock around a lot, I personally don’t mind it I’m not terrified of the ocean, but I understand that a little bit of swell can scare people to where they don’t want to ever go out again or at least in those conditions. I think you’ll be totally fine, but like I tell everyone if you don’t feel comfortable, don’t go out, and if you do go out bring a friend with you.
