Hey team. I apologize for the audio disconnect. Something weird happening with the YT compression and my efforts couldn't fix it. It seems to slowly resync by the end. Better luck next week! Cheers! -Mike
When you described it, my mind went to dark beers. I don’t particularly enjoy Fuggle on its own, but the earthiness can be great alongside dark malts. Your vanilla porter idea is very interesting!
Thank you for the video. I use this hop for some years... did great solo in blonde ale, kolsh like or blonde saison beer...and I find too that the grains shine out more with this hop.. Vanilla and pear are the main flavors/aromas to me.
After all your SMASH experiments, what would you say the top five hops are that can stand alone and make a drinkable beer? I just did an Amarillo with 6oz of Lupomax and it came out amazing.
I saw the title of this video and immediately thought this was a new hop named for Glen Falconer. He was the head brewer at the Wild Duck brewpub in Eugene Oregon. He was very influential in the regional beer scene. He was TALL and hairy (more than most brewers in the area - it's almost a regulation that brewers must have beards) and because of that he was given the moniker of Sasquatch. He died an unexpected and horrible death. He was working on the engine of his VW Microbus when the transmission suddenly went into reverse. The bus pinned him a wall crushing his chest. The brewing world was stunned. When much raucous drinking and telling of bawdy tales, Glen's friends wanted his legacy to live on. A life-size sculpture of "Sasquatch" was commissioned. It had flip-flops on his feet and was carrying a 22-oz bomber in his hand. They also started a yearly Sasquatch Beer Festival where all the regional brewery would bring their best beers. Each would make beer in the Glen Hay Falconer style : Big, Bold and Hoppy! The brewery that won the Peoples Choice won the right to display the statue in their bar or taproom. All the proceeds from the festival went to fund the brewing scholarship. HopUnion ( now a part of YCH) also developed a blend of hops called "Falconer's Flight" which is a blend of Glen's favorite hops. If you haven't experimented with them. I urge you give them a try. A portion of the sales of "Falconer's Flight" also go to the scholarship fund. MORE INFO: www.glenfalconerfoundation.org/
Hi, what was the hopping sked for this one? Was it the same as in some of your previous SMASH recipies: 7 at 10 mins, 14 at flameout and 7 at dry hop? Do you tweak this sked for a SMASH that has a higher AA hops ? Thanks
Thanks "Dudes" for the Bigfoot Pale Ale...I've never heard of therefore have never used Sasquatch. I might pick up a packet and give them a try. Keep up the good work!
Hey guys, how bout a jar of destiny smash where you dry hop with like 15 grams per liter to see where the hops really shine. Come on YVH, sponsor the hops.

I was thinking it was my phone messing up. Thanks for the comment, saved me some time trying to figure it out.

I just used some of these in an English mild. I guess it's a Canadian mild now. It's not ready yet though. Now I'm excited.
I want to make an IPA with some and some Citra. I would hope for and orange cream flavor

This hop sounds like it would pair well with a saison.

I'm not a big fan of this hop. The hair keeps getting caught in my throat 😂. Seriously great video. Interesting hop! Cheers 🍻
