It would make more sense to adhere to the passing on of the Prophetic tradition through one who only made decisions to accept and obey the invitation to revelation and inspiration.
It is important that government is led from centers that are strategically placed for the current situation.

It is incorrect to state that Hazrat Abu Talib was poor and therefore Hazrat Ali was adopted by Prophet Mohammad (s.a.w). How could Hazrat Abu Talib be poor, when he was the custodian of Khana' Ka'aba? He was given the title Abu Talib, meaning the father or caretaker of the needy. If Hazrat Abu Talib wasn't financially stable, how could his generosity be so well known to be given this title?
It is quite very evident once you read the history. First of all Hazrat Abutalib was indeed poor in terms of wealth as the market was mostly controlled by the Mushrikeen. And the title Abu Talib was not because of the reason you mentioned, it was simply because his eldest son was Talib and hence Abu Talib was his title. It is also evident in the history that Prophet Muhammad (saw) took the kifaalah of Imam Ali (as) since his childhood and one of the reasons was to ease the burden on Hazrat Abu Talib (as).
