I just miss it, even as a kid I enjoyed progressing through a career and feeling a sense of accomplishment. I remember doing a 99 lap race on Gran Turismo 3 and couldn’t turn my PS2 off as I didn’t have a memory card! Now with games you get some crappy credits, maybe a new emote or an “email” from the team boss saying well done. Bring back a proper career, start from the bottom and don’t let me see a car with more than 200hp for at least a couple hours of racing.
My all time fav rally game. Use to love the online ghost racing on that, 8 cars side by side waiting for someone to make a mistake! The career was great with a nice variety of events
MAN i forgot about the toca racedriver cutscenes..that gave me serious childhood flashbacks I used to be so pissed of when he said your line is shit..it was true tho lmao
I’ve been exploring which sims have the best single player experience on my channel and I totally agree with your points here. Automobilista 2 has a career mode coming soon that’s shown greyed out in the menu after the last update. Hopefully it ends up being great.
A key component could be using rivals like nfs most wanted and first forza horizon. Nowadays even if they include rivals they're like super friendly which kills the whole point
Exactly right, i miss the old career modes! Only good singleplayer games i played recently was Grid Legends, Project Cars 2 (a bit simple), and SRX THE GAME, other than that everything is MULTIPLAYER
The thing about menus is very very subjective I remember Dirt 2 and 3 getting a lot of flak for being too cluttered and slow. I personally really like menus of NFS Shift 2 and Project cars 2. The menus themselves are rather simple but for me it is the music that plays in the menus of those games that makes it good. In Project Cars 2 there are snippets of interviews being played in the background for example some1 describing what it feels like to wait for the lights to go out in the starting grid and also radio chatter between the crew and the driver. it creates this awesome ambiance of suspense along with the music. It is very similar in NFS Shift 2 which has a remix of Levitate by Hollywood Undead playing and also has this radio chatter sometimes play when you move around in menus. They both are very similar because It's the same studio behind those games afterall. Quite sad PC4 got cancelled PC 3 should have never been named Project Cars. Initially it was supposed to be named something else entirely. It was supposed to be a spinoff game so they could wait for PS5 to come out and develop next Project Cars game for that, but half way through some internal disagreements happened between the people in the top and developers and it was decided that the game is to be name PC3. At least that's what they say happened.
@@W1interWolf like I said mate some games do it well and others do not. I did a video on project cars and mentioned how great the menu music was, loved Pcars 1 and 2!

@@aeonzei on WRC, you can go on the time trial leaderboard and download ghosts, I am unsure if you can filter to friends or not as I have not tried that. However that is how you get other players ghosts on the track at the same time. I think you can have up to three at once
for me. personally , the EA WRC features are OKAY, but why don’t codemaster make a real rally games with things like an upgrade/modification, how to be a rally enthusiasts. Not just stages n cars. Player can experience how joined a real life rally events.
100% agree. MP sucks, you race for bragging rights, there is no investment, no achievement. You race, win (or like me lose), your score changes, repeat. After a while it’s boring. I guess if you had 10 mates who could sync to play at the same time, it would be fun, but I cannot. I’m am a busy parent, my friends are also busy parents. My perfect game would be 10% MP, 90% campaign. It’s the same with FPS. I have Xbox-X, I often go back to F3 just for the campaign.. just to finish it. It’s massive. Another thing I don’t like is everything is super hyped, in your face, attention seeking, forced. Your avatar is “dancing” FFS. I want to see my avatar pissed off for placing third as you would in real life. I want to see a mechanic have a melt down when you turn up with a wreck for the fourth time in a row. I don’t want the exact same podium cutscene with exactly the same voice over every time. I want a “villain” AI that is often in your important races and torments you, not some random name that constantly changes.
I've met some really bad young gamers. They were born after 2000 or 2010. They've only been exposed to garbage and don't know what they're playing. And then they get into a terrible cycle. I don't even recommend them to watch the art they watch now, because whether it's movies, cartoons, games, music, 99% of it is garbage. And they don't seem to know anything. I've even met some extremely ignorant guys who are full of violent thoughts. No learning ability, no judgment ability. It's really bad and terrible.
This is something I believe all people have to go through and realize they’ve stagnated. When you realize you’ve been indulging in the same slop for years it eventually gets boring. Thus if you still like the medium, you search for novelty. I played corsa. I liked the circuit racing, but I thought it was BOOOORING. So I played gt4. In search for novelty I found something I loved. Same with films, music and especially with shooters. In search for novelty you set your bar higher and higher in terms of the products creativity!

I agree, I love an interactive single player career mode. Grid as you mentioned did this well as did the old dirts
Literally could not agree more. Bring back the good single player experiences, please.
Who knows, I doubt it will happen anytime soon however.
Grid and dirt 2 came to my mind before you started talking about them codemasters really knew how to do it
Good minds think alike
And it's not the company name, it's the people that actually made it.
We should stoo giving credit to a company name alone.
