Dogs sleeping on their back is usually an indication that they feel safe, because they are at their most vulnerable when their belly is exposed. So take it as a compliment, Pinky must feel very safe with you!
'She's not allowed on our bed' - you're so funny Soph... it's only a matter of time till you realise the bed and the house belongs to the dog. The sooner you come to terms with it, the better.
when we first got our family dog, Max, my dad said the following: he will not be allowed on the sofa, sofa chair, our beds or even upstairs. 11 years later, Max has his own sofa chair, sleeps upstairs with my parents and has jumped up many a times on our beds
My last family dog was an “outside” dog - we had a laundry that was connected to the house but that had its own door to the yard, so that was his “house”. (I live in a hot part of Australia, so we don’t get any really cold weather). My dad was firm that he wasn’t meant to be inside...and then he got arthritis so he was allowed inside for winter evenings... then summer evenings... 😂😝
Also my dog is a rescue and she wasn’t allowed on our bed. Then we saw on the pet camera that she got a scare when we were out and went and hid on our bed under our PJs 😫 it was so cute, we immediately gave in lol. She’s an inside dog, so she’s pretty clean luckily!
When we got our family dog, my mum (who we took a while to convince) said not allowed on sofa or upstairs. Yeah next day she was on the sofa having a cuddle then once she was crate trained she was allowed upstairs. 9 years later she goes between everyone’s bedroom and chooses where she wants to sleep!
My dad didn’t even want a dog and he said it would be an outdoor dog. a month later: she’s inside he feeds her food scraps the whole time 😂 and she always sits on his lap (even tho she’s a gsd and she’ll be heavy when she’s older 😂) still not allowed on the beds but give it another month 😂
I literally almost cried while watching this video 🥺🥺🥺 not only because Pinky is SO CUTE, but mostly because it's so nice to see that popular person like you decided to adopt a dog and not buy a "perfect dog". You have saved Pinkys life and I love you even more as it made me 101% sure that you are and James are the most kind and loveliest persons alive 🥺❤️❤️❤️
Really, my questions would have been: 1) why is Pinky so adorable? 2) does Pinky know she is a good girl? 3) does Pinky know we love her as much as you? 4) what are her plans for world domination? 🤔🤔🤔
@@EleanorLees Lol I am a 2000 child so I have not watched it but I do remember the name I actually have pet mice and they are the cutest! I will have to check the show out:)
It is so sweet to see how comfortable your little Pinky is in your home. Sleeping on their back is actually a great sign that the dog is super comfortable and feels safe! :)
Defo take toys away from her if she destroys the otherwise she'll start chewing everything and you'll lose shoes and everything! teaches her that ripping stuff apart isn't the aim of the game, chewing and playing yes, but destroying no, always replace wit with something she can shew straight away, just conditions her to know what okay and what's not, from someone who has grown up with cheeky puppies everywhere x
I know im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the account password. I would love any help you can offer me
I'm also from Romania and unfortunately we have a problem with stray dogs and cats. People here are not educated to neuter their pets (especially in the rural area) and when they have puppies people just abandon them 😔 It's very sad unfortunately 😣
In greece too. Its a massive problem. The state doesnt care and the people dont get educated enough about that. Stray dogs and cats everywhere unfortunately
She's so sweet! I don't know who told you not to take the toys off her if she's destroying them, all dog toys say give under supervision which is incase they choke on bits they're ripping off. You've done the absolute right thing :) good luck on your lovely little journey together ❤️
My mum and dad after our westie passed away in 2015 rescued a greyhound called douglas and he was 3, he was an ex racer and never had long periods of being in a home environment, he is so loved and spoilt and fills our heart with such joy and is a gentle giant who is literally scared of his own shadow😂 he is so perfect and couldn’t wish for a dog better🥺 the best feeling is knowing that you’ve given a rescue dog the best life ever for the rest of it’s life❤️
For people who are hoping to adopt but maybe don’t have as much time as home or are not experienced dog owners, look for older dogs! There are dogs who have come from loving homes and are a bit trained already and just need a new family. We got our dog at about 4 years old - she was already toilet trained, knew how to walk on a lead. She had puppies in her past life, so she’s now a very chill and lazy retiree. We’ve continued her training and she’s settled in perfectly. We call her a baked potato cause she’s that lightly toasted colour and just likes to curl up for cuddles
So right Kate. Both Golden Retrievers I’ve had were rescued Seniors - 10 yrs old. Of course I didn’t have them as long as if I had them since puppies but Murphy lived until 18 and Sam until 16. At the beginning of the year I was working with the Golden Retriever Rescue of Michigan to adopt or foster another GR, then unfortunately due to the pandemic they stopped the process for adoptions/fostering. So now I’m even looking out of state. Fingers crossed. 🤞🏻
We’ve got a 4 month old cocker spaniel puppy that will eventually be a working dog, we always take her toys away as soon as they start to come apart, 1 to stop her from eating the pieces and 2 to stop her from forming a habit of destroying them! 😊
You did the right thing,in my opinion,as far as taking the things away that you thought she would choke on.My friend lost a dog who choked and she was devastated, understandably.Always best to be cautious.I always chucked toys that my dog destroyed. She is gorgeous 😊💕
You did the right thing to take the toys away if they start falling apart by her chewing them. Dogs tummies aren't the greatest when it comes to digesting things like that. We had a dog at our work chew a towel and ended up pooping towel chunks which caused their tummy to become upset. You are doing an amazing job with her. And she is the cutest thing ever 🧡
I've had a recue dog for 7 years she is a little more nervous than other dogs but is sweet she pulls bad on the lead so I recommend lead training from day one!!! Barks alot but that's what dogs do!! She chewed a bit of kitchen table had to get a new one but mustard REALLY HELPED!! We didn't use a crate but I do recommend one alot!! She is a pretty big dog she sheds all year round she sheds so much her breed is a collie cross with black lab!!
Funny old world isn't it. My rescue dog Eric is super cuddly and makes no noise too. He's so excited to see me every day, after 7 years. They're the best
Word of warning (from experience) the harder plastic toys can get sharp when they’re well loved so it’s definitely worth keeping an eye out for :) would also recommend puzzle toys to keep their brain active :)
You're so happy!! BTW when we got our dog as a puppy, he was crate trained, and when he was 2 we took the crate away and he proffered it. He obviously felt safer in there, but when we moved house (he was age 3) we didn't introduce the crate in the new house. I thought this was worth telling you so when you decide to remove the crate, dont be worried if its bad reaction for her. Love you and your little family 🤍
It you haven't got a dry dog food you like yet I recommend tails.com you get to fill out a quiz/form about your dog then they give you a food suitable for your dog.On your first time you get a couple of other bits for free and the best thing is the scoop that helps you give your dog the right portion which helps with stomach aches. My dog loves it ❤
Always have rescue dogs.. My last dog was from dog trust and she was amazing but currently lost her due to health problems she had. But maybe next year definitely going to look to get another from rescue centre xx
Pinky is a sweetheart, With the potty training the best tip I got with my dog was just take them out every 2-3 hours during the day and trying not to let the pup nap before bed time, kinda keep them playing and this is meant to help them sleep through the night so they don’t wake up and have an accident in the middle of the night. Or you could set an alarm for the middle of the night to take the pup out for a wee break sometime that can encourage the habit of not sleeping through the night
I love videos about Pinky. She's adorable and her sleeping for half of the video is just precious 😍 I have a rescue dog at my parents place and it was tough for him to get used to us.So I'm glad Pinky has adjusted already and is going great
Tbh I used to get annoyed when my pets chewed things, and I mean it’s still annoying but after they’re gone it’s like a cute reminder of them so now I’m not as fussed, and as long as it’s not really expensive to replace I’m not too worried, like my bunny likes eating cables no matter how much I protect them and put them out of the way and wrap them up, which is annoying but in the end she’s worth all the annoyance of randomly losing cables
The double lead is to teach them not to pull. So you attach a lead to the back of the harness and the second lead to the front of their collar so then when they pull you forward, you gently pull on the lead that’s attach to the collar and it will turn the dog. So eventually the dog will learn that when they pull they’ll be stopped and moved into a direction they didn’t want to go, and so will stop pulling. We used a similar method with out dogs, when they pulled we would turn around and go the opposite direction and they learnt that pulling did them no favours and they would go the opposite way to what they wanted. Now they just walk beside us 😊
She is amazing! The fact that she has settled so quickly is unreal. I'm on night 3 with my puppy at the moment and I am thanking my lucky stars she hasn't tried to roar the house down so far tonight. Nights one and two were very tough to take as it broke my heart to hear her whine. Did pinky make any noise what so ever on her first night with you?
My dog recently died. But she was a rescue from Cyprus and pinky looks like a blonde version of mine. My dog was black haired and had longer legs than pinky but pinky looks so sweet and my Millie was so sweet too. Make me miss having a dog so bad
I also have a rommie rescue and the reality is they'll all be more than two breeds more than likely and they have all sorts of different breeds round Eastern Europe so it's probably completely different than pedigree breeds. Also they do change as time goes on especially as pups - mine was an angel first few weeks and then the naughty pup behaviour sets in including the incessant barking 😂
I literally cried at the vlog where you got Pinky because I was so grateful for you saving her. I am living for the pinky content, I want a cuddle so bad 🥰
Even if you don’t want her on your bed with you, you could leave a crate/bed in your room so she’s still near you! I’m so glad the two of you love her, she is the sweetest, cutest pup ever🥺🥰
if you'll ever need to get pinky a dog walker/day care/dog boarder etc i'd highly recommend introducing her to that while she's a puppy! makes it way easier for her to get comfortable with whoever you go with 😊
When a dog sleeps belly up like that, it shows that they're comfortable in their surroundings and trust their humans. She's so happy and comfy with you. 💓💓💓
Pleasee can you do a video or instagram thing with some of the recommendations you got? I have a dog and it would be so handy hearing about some great toys etc.!
I agree with what you say leaving dogs alone for long period time isn't good. Its the excat reason why i won't get a dog, me and my partner work full time. We have a cat and shes prefect for our lifestyle.
U did the right thing taking a toy away that breaks, they are a hazard. Let her on the sofa for cuddles, I didn't let my dog on the sofa because he used to shed alot, he had sudden kidney failure this June & passed away, he was 13years 6 months, I planned to let him on the sofa for cuddles in his older years but that didn't happen so I really regret that 😢, but he did have his own sofa & 3 dog beds. He was my baby & miss him terribly 🐾🐾🐾🐾
I have a dog and two cats and they all get along. Like you, I'm a cat person and a dog person. My dog is from Puerto Rico, and from what you said, the shelters there are very similar to what is in Romania.
Whenever a dog sleeps on there back like pinky it usually means that they feel safe and r enjoying there sleep and stuff that’s what our shelter said to us btw love your vids xxxxxxx
im from Romania and im happy to see you adopted her ☺. My dog look the same as Pinky and we still dont know the breed after 5 years so when you find out her breed maybe we will find some answers too . They look like they could be brothers and that is so cute my heart melts
Also just wanted to say look out for her fur on paws getting pink as it can be a sign of allergy to treats as my dog had that with certain treats that were coloured
Hey Soph, if you want to know the breed of Pinkie you can always do a doggy DNA test - I have done some research and seems the Wisdom Panel DNA kit is the best. This will tell you the mix of breeds in her and also any underlying health conditions that associates with her highest % breed(s) Also if you do decide to look into this, I'd love to see you make a video around it :) xx
Ugh I love her so so much! 😍 every time I see her it makes me want to rush home to cuddle my Gracie 🥰 Gracie is small, only around 8 pounds, but she’s a big chewer too! We get her the Kong Floppy Knot toys & they are nicknamed her “baby” lol. They are mostly rope with fabric over them to look like an animal & have squeakers in the head & belly. It’s Gracie’s favorite & we get her a new one every Christmas 💗
i highly recommend many tears! my parents rescued our 3 legged cockerpoo from many tears, they’re an incredible rescue place. they take in a lot of puppy farm dogs from ireland. our cockerpoo had to have her leg amputated after being hit by what we think was a train, the owner refused to pay for it so many tears took her in and paid for her surgery and check ups! they only asked for a donation fee which is usually just to cover a pet passport if they’re coming from ireland. also if you can’t adopt from many tears, their facebook page has an amazon wish list link on there and during the winter months they struggle for blankets, food, toys etc as it is all charity work and rely heavily on donations.
When pinky is older deffo consider getting a cat. My dog and cat are actually besties and my cat literally comes on walks with us around our town ect. Super cute
I thought our cat was the only one who did that, whenever we walk our dogs he’s always either next to us or just ahead and will follow us all the way. I closed the window once thinking he was already out and when we came home he was in such a mood with me that I locked him in and he missed the walk lol 😊
my friend has a rescue dog from romania that was an abandoned dog found in the street that was covered in oil but she looks the exact same as pinky!! she is two years old and very protective around new people in the house, she goes for them constantly if they look at her or move to fast, do you have this same problem with pinky? They aren’t sure what breed she is either but i’m sure she is the exact same as pinky
it is true that puppies don't shed as much, they start when they are about a year old and then there is just hair everywhere :') also i'm so happy things are going well for you :) she seems very good :D and about the destroying of toys, that is completely normal and its normal for dogs to swallom some bits but it comes out again and if they choke they normally just cough it out again so its fine. We have a husky and they like german shepherds are known for chewing apart toys its just what happens, no big deal :)
Ahhhhhh 😍😍😍 haha we have that exact same elephant and we call him Mr Trunks 💜💜
i just got a puppy and have the same toy we call him eddie the elephant😂😍😍
She’s so cute I can’t 😭😭😭
"She's very food motivated", "we picked her bc she was small" I'm sorry Soph I didn't realise you and James adopted me
oh dear this has me rofl 😂 I relate so hard 🤚
hahaha honestly we are one and the same 😂
🤣🤣🤣

Oh soph you are such a brilliant dog mummy 🥰🥰🥰🥰
She definitely looks like a kokoni mix! Also has a bit of a Corgi i feel like. Shes Just so cute😭
I have a dog and two cats and they all get along. Like you, I'm a cat person and a dog person. My dog is from Puerto Rico, and from what you said, the shelters there are very similar to what is in Romania.
In my country rescue centers practically have to beg for people to adopt it's wild to see how england has so many restrictions
Whenever a dog sleeps on there back like pinky it usually means that they feel safe and r enjoying there sleep and stuff that’s what our shelter said to us btw love your vids xxxxxxx
She's so cute!
And waahhh, just received the email from Skinnydip that your collection is being released soon. Can't wait ☺️
im from Romania and im happy to see you adopted her ☺. My dog look the same as Pinky and we still dont know the breed after 5 years so when you find out her breed maybe we will find some answers too . They look like they could be brothers and that is so cute my heart melts
She’s is absolutely adorable!!!!! 🥰 for recommendations I love watching Seasar Malans dog training thing, I think it’s just on sky xxxxx
Also just wanted to say look out for her fur on paws getting pink as it can be a sign of allergy to treats as my dog had that with certain treats that were coloured
She is too cute!!
Currently buying this hoodie ❤️
Thank you for giving a rescue dog a chance 🥰
Soph did you decide on what food to feed her after the chicken and rice ?. X
If you want to find out what pinks is you can go online and get a deal test to find out xx
Hey Soph, if you want to know the breed of Pinkie you can always do a doggy DNA test - I have done some research and seems the Wisdom Panel DNA kit is the best. This will tell you the mix of breeds in her and also any underlying health conditions that associates with her highest % breed(s)
Also if you do decide to look into this, I'd love to see you make a video around it :) xx
Shedding amounts can depend on the breed or in pinkies case breeds. You'll just have to wait and see lol 💖🐾
Ugh I love her so so much! 😍 every time I see her it makes me want to rush home to cuddle my Gracie 🥰
Gracie is small, only around 8 pounds, but she’s a big chewer too! We get her the Kong Floppy Knot toys & they are nicknamed her “baby” lol. They are mostly rope with fabric over them to look like an animal & have squeakers in the head & belly. It’s Gracie’s favorite & we get her a new one every Christmas 💗
Ok but where is that jumper from because I NEED it 😍
i highly recommend many tears!
my parents rescued our 3 legged cockerpoo from many tears, they’re an incredible rescue place. they take in a lot of puppy farm dogs from ireland. our cockerpoo had to have her leg amputated after being hit by what we think was a train, the owner refused to pay for it so many tears took her in and paid for her surgery and check ups! they only asked for a donation fee which is usually just to cover a pet passport if they’re coming from ireland. also if you can’t adopt from many tears, their facebook page has an amazon wish list link on there and during the winter months they struggle for blankets, food, toys etc as it is all charity work and rely heavily on donations.
She's so adorably cute I can't even I think I'm in love with her🥰😂
it is true that puppies don't shed as much, they start when they are about a year old and then there is just hair everywhere :')
also i'm so happy things are going well for you :) she seems very good :D and about the destroying of toys, that is completely normal and its normal for dogs to swallom some bits but it comes out again and if they choke they normally just cough it out again so its fine. We have a husky and they like german shepherds are known for chewing apart toys its just what happens, no big deal :)
