I use white vinegar as a natural softener for my clothes and it cleans that softener compartment too. Plus it cleans the washer too. Liquid softeners tend to make clothes wear out faster because it adds a film to the fabric. You can add essential oils to the vinegar too. I use tea tree for socks and underwear, lavender for the sheets and comforters and orange for towels.

I recently replaced the toilets in my home and realized I had been missing cleaning the back part of my toilets. And I am someone who cleans my home several times a week. I never knew you could take the fabric softener thing out of the washer going to do that today. I also learned that to clean jetted tubs ONLY use the disinfecting bleach NOT the splash less or any other kind. Otherwise it creates a bathroom full of bubbles. It was a nightmare. I had to keep scooping them out and throwing them in the shower. I also just recently replaced our bathroom light fixtures above the sinks and they were SUPER dusty. Need to remember to dust those along with all our ceiling fans. 😊

Thank you for reminding us about those areas. I put old newspaper at the bottom of my trash can in case something leaks, I can just throw away the paper. I cleaned my rings (engagement, wedding & mother’s ring) last night. I used hot water with a drop of Dawn dish liquid, let them soak for about 10 minutes the used an old toothbrush, rinsed with cool water. All I can say is WOW, they are so clean & sparkly.

Another place that is very important that most homeowners miss is the furnace pipes throughout the house. I used to have our furnace checked when I would change over from cooling too heating. Just call a trusted furnace company, they will come in and inspect your furnace and vacuum the heating pipes in your whole house. This is very important if you have allergies and will also give you peace of mind that your furnace and ac are work properly.

I forget to change air filters ALL THE TIME! Also need to remember to clean the return air vents. However, I do clean my trash can weekly - inside and out. Ashley, these are all great tips!!! I was guilty of not getting to a few of these areas myself!! YIKES!! LOL Also remember to remove your exhaust fan cover and vacuum there!! I'll warn you now, it will be so dusty!!! Also my favorite scrubbing tool for small areas is an old toothbrush!!! It works wonders!!! I have a video posting tomorrow that would complement this one extremely well...it is focused on cleaning hacks for the bathroom!! Here's a laundry room tip I learned from one of the ladies from my church. Each week use a cloth to wipe down your washer. You can get the rag wet while the tub is filling up and just throw it in the load of wash. You can even use the soapy water in the tub to get the tough dirt off. Also a toothbrush can help with those hard to get spots.

I clean everything you mentioned. Two more places that we don't remember to clean are the tops of the light switches, well the whole light switch, and the very tops of door frames. Today I'm on my hands and knees cleaning our baseboards. I'm using hot sudsy water and a denture tooth brush, then wiping with paper towels. Ouch my knees!!!! All our floors are painted and sealed concrete. I really hate this and have been putting it off but after watching your video I got the energy to do them. I'm doing them one room at a time so it's not that bad. And they look so nice and clean now ❤💚💜💙💛

Great minds here! I started ,during spring cleaning, using an app called Tody. I have everything in my house top to bottom in there. It reminds me to do EVERYTHING! You can use their lists or make your own or use a combo of the two (this is what I did) and you can put in the frequency you want to clean each thing. Game changer! I forget things or think I'll do this tomorrow and then I forget and it ends up being yucky for awhile. My house has never been this clean and I keep a pretty good house. Love your videos as always!!!

Thanks for the reminders! I hardly ever think to clean those areas in my doors and just looked at the door from the garage to the kitchen...eew! Tip, let your garbage cans dry in the sun to help deoderize them and drop a spoonful baking soda in the bag to help with odors. I use a disinfecting wipe on my small trashcans in the bathrooms every time I empty them, takes approximately 2.76 seconds.

  • @gingerlawson9612

My #1 is the garage door into our laundry room to the house, I think I will go back to it and forget to, and think about it when I go out and come back in. Vents that are high up for me is #2in the house to do. The laundry room is a must to keep clean (floors, washing machine and inside of the door) all the time it is our in and out thru the house for guest, mail, dogs going out etc. I do 2 things at the first of the month also 1. change the filter 2.wash all trash can thru out the house and take them to the main bathroom to wash. My new things I do now is dust the walls also once a month, by using the E-mop with the white pad on it. During the summer we also wash out the big trash can we put our bags in, it stinks so washing it out helps the smell a lot. Stay Safe till the next time.

Good Sunday morning to you & HUGS from me in Houston!!!! Thanks for reminding everyone about the "forgotten" spots...btw, the "Magic Erasers" are on sale this month at SAMS!!!! Already got 2 packs of em.....LOL...yes, our jets went out in ours, it is usually the motor under the actual tub that goes out, but we decided to replace ours anyway too :) Trash cans, ours has an insert that goes into a metal trash can. It DOES get gross, but I take mine out to the back patio or driveway to hose down, then come in & dry it off with disinfecting cleaner. Some other places that we all forget too: ceiling fans, blinds, microwaves, ovens, dishwashers, etc...our a/c filters are 20x25x5 ones, 2 of them...we juuuust changed them too! Thank you for being part of my Sunday morning, & love you always XOXOXO

Great video and should be done all the time - but to be REAL - every 3 or 6 months is good
I recently got a stick vacuum and it is really helping get spots that I could not get with the big push one.
Have you thought about getting a good steam cleaner - worth their weight in gold! And, with allergies they are great.
For the return air vent in the ceiling, have you got a washable filter in there. I do mine once a week because of my allergies and dog. And, the steam cleaner adds some real germ killing power.
So many places you are mentioning are hard to get to if old or disabled and the stick vacuum really helps and the steam cleaner finishes the job at NO cost and no soap after you have paid for the cleaner.
You are right, your house can look clean at first sight, but then - well, your mirrors can have a coat of dust on them. - I have that and the steam cleaner is great for this one.

I use a paper towel with rubbing alcohol to get the downy off the center agitator..... works great

Hi! You might want to check your electrical box to make sure one of the switches hasn’t flipped that powers the jets. The same thing happened to me & that was the problem. And, I too despise the jetted tub. 😫

Chase did check that off camera. 😂🙌🏼 We even watched a few TH-cam videos do fix it but it’s broke. 🤪

Hi Ashley. I definitely forget to clean behind the toilet! Omg who knows what's growing back there! That and the inside of my front door are definitely neglected. Oh and the bathroom vents too. Thanks for sharing 😊❤

It’s a hard area to clean but so worth it.

I like to stick a couple paper towels at the bottom of trash can under the liner - helps with clean up

Once again I learned something new. Dry before wet behind the toilet. And razor handle never look at that 🤦‍♀️. Our garage door needs repainting there is no way to get it clean. We’ve been in our house 4 years too. Husband is a DIY mechanic.

You've definitely opened my eyes to the fabric softener dispenser

I RAN to my washer. I live in an apartment complex and I don’t think any previous tenant read where it says to dilute the softener with water. I about threw up. Soaking the top part in my sink and running plain hot water through my washer as it was all gummy. Thank youuuuuu!

I'm always telling my husband he needs to get air filters so I will tell him about this.
I use a soft toothbrush with some Dawn for the letters on my softer cup. It works great just make sure the toothbrush is wet and so is the top and pour a little bit of Dawn you hardly need any . Turns out great and it's fast.

Using a washing brush or a toothbrush will make it easier to clean the softener dispenser in the machine
