- This is a blindfolded speedrun of Super Mario 64 (SM64) with the 16 Star category by Bubzia (me) and the world record as of 14th July 2022. The final time is 23 minutes and 17 seconds.
This run was decent, lost some time here and there but the worst timeloss was BLJs. Still, many of the new strats that I have routed recently worked out, especially getting a great Bubzia in the sky finally.
Really happy, can still be improved though!

Blindfolded really got super optimized over the past years. It is really crazy to think that it can hold up against some visual runs at this point :D I mean my own visual PB is a 20 minute run, so its not far off xD

Thank you, it definitely did! I feel like I improved so much during the 120 practice time, but considering I spent more than a year nearly playing this game everyday for that, maybe its not so surprising :D

Huge GGs! We all know it was coming, but dude, it was so soon! Super clean run, insane consistency, it's so absurd how in both your last PBs it's clear that the only things stopping you from a sub 22 are just stupid mistakes and maybe 1 occasional actual mistake. You and Hendy destroyed the category in few weeks, and not only for your WR alone (Hendy's wr soon?🙃), but for the incredible potential that those new strats have while still preserving a reliable consistency, congrats!💪

I've always wondered does staying blindfolded for so long mess your vision up? Love the content some of the most skillful stuff I've seen
I don't mean to sound rude, but when you sleep do you wake up blind? I get what you're asking maybe if they're keeping their eyes open while being blindfolded but I don't think there's any risk of that, maybe just light sensitivity like turning on a light in the middle of the night. Also I think it'd be more uncomfortable keeping your eyes open in a blindfold than just simply shutting them since your vision is obscured anyway. But yes, agreed this is super impressive and just shows that dedication to a skill can show impressive results. Have a nice day.
Hey! First of all, glad you like it :) Second, no it really does not. I 99% of the time have my eyes closed under the blindfold, and after so many years doing it I dont even get the light adjustment thing anymore when taking the blindfold off really. I just got so used to it^^ It is probably better for the eyes than staring at a display for the same time :D

Lots of practice :D I do blindfolded speedruns since 2017 close to daily.

Why does he spam his button at certain Jumps?
As someone who’ doesn’t know much about speed runs , my initial guess was to make sure he gets that certain jump lol
Yes, its just as the other reply says. It is very difficult in many situations to perfectly time you jump with 1 button press, so mashing then out from maximum height like for triple jumps just guarantees a jump vs relying on a perfect press

Sub 20 will be very very unlikely with these strats unfortunately, but a sum of best of sub 20 can be achieved with more risky strategies!
