Was Paladins Just An Overwatch Copy?

Paladins is a team based hero shooter from Hi Rez that's always struggled with being compared to more successful titles like Overwatch, but despite somehow managing to retain some staying power in the first person shooter game market, Paladins has still messed up countless times. Here are some of the main reasons why you don't hear about Paladins anymore.

If paladins had a better development team, it could soar even higher than overwatch. It's a fun game, there is just too many technical difficulties.

Sadly i think paladins is much more fun than overwatch, but the game feels like its held together with bubblegum and tape, its buggy as hell.

Hero shooters/arena shooters are a fucking class of game. If i hear one more person say “Marvel Rivals is an ow clone!”, “Paladins is an overwatch clone!”, or “Overwatch is a tf2 clone!”

And not only that, but there were leaks of paladins since 2012, although at that time people called it Global Agenda 2, there were even lists of skills and weapons from Global Agenda that would be reused for paladins.

If hirez had better resource allocation paladins would’ve surpassed overwatch long time ago cuz that game is actually fun when it comes to the core mechanics, certainly more fun than playing tank in OW2 since season 1

My biggest problem with paladins is that it just NEVER gets new maps.....its annoying as hell seeing same map witj no changes for 1000000time

first of all they are constantly remaking older maps or restoring old details and adding to maps, second of all we literally got a new map like 2 years ago being dawnforge so that is not true (ok sure 2 years sounds like a lot but in paladins a 2 year old map is rather new)

And yet paladins is just better than ow. It just needs more resources to give it the polish that ow has. Aside from just feeling less optimised, it’s so much better. Supports alone outdo everything ow supports have to offer. They’re so much more fun and better designed. I main Furia, who did what blizzard tried to do with Moira and failed, but they did it well. With Moira, your reward for doing damage is being able to heal. Players don’t give a fuck about that. With Furia however, your reward for healing is having a faster fire rate, letting you do more damage instead. Being rewarded by being able to do what any other support can do anyways isn’t fun or engaging, but being able to do extra things for healing is a great incentive for people who pick up the role but don’t just wanna heal bot and wanna have an impact by doing damage. No matter her balance state, Furia will always be one of the greatest designed supports in all of gaming to me.

Paladins has some stuff that ow can’t compete with, and ow has some stuff Paladins can’t compete with. Overall, I think Paladins is the better game in all departments other than graphics, toxicity, and monetization (post ow season 10). Ow used to have a story, but that’s gone. Used to have smoother gameplay, but that’s arguable now. Paladins only feels worse cause of the graphics.

And not to mention that ow copied many things from paladins AFTER their release, being sombra one of the biggest and most clear examples of overwatch taking a character from paladins, but anyone said a thing about that.

Paladins would be fun if it didn't crash everytime I tried to play it. Overwatch would be fun if it wasn't made by sexual abuse from females employees. Tf2 is just the goat unfortunately

I’m ngl overwatch also takes alot of crap from older games
It’s not always stealing though and the characters are much more unique in paladins there also is a lot of characters in general and I will say some of them can be similar
And if they are saying that mostly because OW is a 5v5 fps Then they should know OW didn’t create this genre of game and even if it did, it would be ok for other games to be somewhat similar and use 5v5 or 6v6 fps
OW doesn’t own that genre of games

Paladins is just so poorly made, and as much as people shit on the balance of overwatch, that shit is thousands of times better than paladins😂
