This song reminds me this awful day when I came back from the funeral of my dear friend... She was only 29, had 2 young kids and died from breast cancer. When I came back home, I listened the Flavors of Entanglement album, and when this song came, I cried sooo much... but I still think it's a wonderful song. This song is great because it's so universal. I'm sure everyone who listens to it has been in the same situation. I was there this year, early in the year. But, if this song teaches us anything it's to soldier on and become a better person than the person we were while with that special person in our past. And if you are lucky enough to have that person still in your life (as a friend) just appreciate them as a friends and not as a couple (Not as we). I love you Alanis.

I'm not there yet, my wife of thirty one years passed a little over two years ago. This song really cuts to it, I'm not remade yet, I'm still broken and probably will be for however long it takes. Part of me doesn't want to get passed this feeling because that would mean I've come to terms with my wife being gone and she deserves better than me being okay with it. I find myself looking forward to leaving this life and being with her again, if she'll have me and the lord is willing. Don't misunderstand, I'm not trying to end things but I'm also not making any effort at prolonging my stay here either. Everything I did as a husband and father was meant to make sure my wife and daughter would be taken care of when my time came. Then along comes Cancer and gives a big middle finger to my plans. But that was years ago and now can't stop listening to Princes Familiar as I have a little girl on the way in January. Point being, to those who are 'here' now, it gets better for sure!

I'm not there yet, my wife of thirty one years passed a little over two years ago. This song really cuts to it, I'm not remade yet, I'm still broken and probably will be for however long it takes. Part of me doesn't want to get passed this feeling because that would mean I've come to terms with my wife being gone and she deserves better than me being okay with it. I find myself looking forward to leaving this life and being with her again, if she'll have me and the lord is willing. Don't misunderstand, I'm not trying to end things but I'm also not making any effort at prolonging my stay here either. Everything I did as a husband and father was meant to make sure my wife and daughter would be taken care of when my time came. Then along comes Cancer and gives a big middle finger to my plans. That's enough for now, thank you for this song Ms. Morissette.

House is surely not comparable to Alanis Morissette, she is historical, and Morissette, you get better in time. No one captures human emotion like you, nor with such wisdom.

My day 1 was the day of my divorce 5 days after my mom had died, coincidentally standing on a beach...it was beautiful, but now alone in the world, so empty and painful. Couldn't stop the tears. But that was years ago and now can't stop listening to Princes Familiar as I have a little girl on the way in January. Point being, to those who are 'here' now, it gets better for sure!
