    So after watching a lot of your videos I end buying a tool or something useful for the shop since I'm trying to get a side hustle going on top of being a full time LEO. Well my wife got to the point every time she heard your voice or saw your video she would roll her eyes and ask "what are you buying this time?" Well for the last few months I have been taking care of her, cancer sucks, but I was watching this this morning when I got home from work. She was awake and heard your voice, she said "been awhile, whatcha buying this time?" She hasn't forgot lol. I told her she could buy me the Woodpecker rule since its the only one small and cheap enough lol.

    Hi Matt. This comment is mis-placed but I want you to know I purchased the Ridgid track saw based on several reviews, including yours. Here's the thing...since you posted videos on it, Ridgid came out with a pkg deal to include the 60 inch track. It is selling at $488. I patiently waited for a Home Depot promo (10% off purchase of $299 or more) to be mailed to me. It recently came and I made the purchase. The next day I was back on the HD site looking for something and to my surprise the track saw was a daily special, selling at $339! That's 31% off! The sale was only good for 18 more hours. I went to my local HD and the good people there took care of me, cancelling my order and entering a new one at the better price! Woohoo! Thanks for the great, fair and honest review.

    Another commentator was right - this is a shopping channel. The potential issue is that people think that these tools will make you a better woodworker. They don’t. No tool makes you a better woodworker - some tools make it a lot easier but your ability as a woodworker depends entirely upon you.
    Skills start at product design; go through timber selection; timber preparation; cutting and refining; dry fit to final fit and finishing. You can acquire these skills only through practice; of course, a good school will help enormously but, for most people, that’s not affordable and so, YT presents itself.
    But YT can be a real hindrance. There are people on YT (and I’ve been woodworking for over 45 years) who, frankly, show little skill apart from marketing themselves. There are also people whose work delights me and inspires me. Not that all their work is my style but style is personal, whilst skill is universal.
    So. Don’t think buying any of these tools will instantly improve your work. Better spend the time watching people like Sawyer Design, Ramon Valdez, Pedulla Studio, EN Curtis, Foureyes (and several more on my subscription list). Then go out and make something: make something better than last time.

    @731Woodworks This is the 2nd video that I noticed you mention it being weird that the 20 volt batteries don't work in the track saw but the 60 volt will work in the 20 volt tools. The reason for that is because the 60 volt batteries are actually Flexvolt. The batteries are at 60 volts for tools that require the extra power (like the tracksaw) but they change their voltage automatically when you use them in 20 volt tools. The 20 amp batteries don't have the ability to up their voltage to 60 volts. That's why they don't work in tools like the track saw.

    Anything Woodpeckers can automatically be declared excellent. But I've got a 50 year old Starrett combo square that is still dead on square. I also have that Bosch router from when they were first released. There was a Craftsman version of the same router but I believe the body had cheaper materials. It's definitely a buy it once tool.

    I'm mostly a DeWalt guy, but when I got my tracksaw I went Team Teal. Biggest reason? Track compatibility. Makita and Festool tracks are interchangeable. DW is proprietary.

    • @mlindholm
      @mlindholm ปีที่แล้ว

      That's true, the Dewalt tracks are proprietary to the Dewalt Tracksaw. That said, the Dewalt tracksaw has 2 grooves in the base, one for the Dewalt tracks, but the other works on the festool-like tracks. I have two Festool tracks (eventually more once I get LR32 tracks) that work just fine on the Dewalt saw.

    I have the venerable Bosch 1617 router. I bought it with the fixed base about 25 years ago, used it a couple times, then put it on the shelf. I found the round wooden handles unwieldy and the router never felt stable in my hands. I would never buy another router with round handles. Eventually I put the 1617 motor in my router table where it has stayed ever since.

    Router bit clamp looks useful. Why not just make one? Just needs a couple of uni-directional bearings- they do them on e-Bay.
    'You gotta add those fractions' (6:21)- most of us (>95%) don't. We use decimal. Why don't you? All you need is rulers marked in tenths. (Inches or mm, your choice). Using three bases at once is bound to cause you problems.
    Combination square- the magnetic types are so much faster/easier to use. No fiddling with clamps, or having to get the rule back in the slot. And you can flip the rule- four ways!

    Keep up the good work Matt. You have a humble trustworthiness about you since you started this and it’s carrying over to however your channel evolves. Climbing up the ladder to success will always come with people trying to pull you down from the rungs below. Ignore them and keep moving up. You have a great following here with a lot of people who are cheering on your success. God bless brother.

    Question: why always from Amazon? Yes, they have "everything". Why not support small-box, even online stores like Taylor Toolworks or some of the cutter companies? Woodpeckers is direct, so that's cool, but what about plugging a different retailer?

    Did y’all know that Americans are the only ones that need to do math to be able to do their hobbies or trades? The rest of us use the metric system, and who can’t multiply, devide, add and subtract in multiples of ten? Take your 16ths, 1/8ths etc and move into the 21st century. Love your videos man.

    • @michaelgray7767
      @michaelgray7767 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey….. Great to get a response. Just a thought. Why don’t you convert your shop and your projects to metric and see how easy it really is for yourself. You have a huge audience, you might start something unstoppable. And I could stop slapping my head when I see some of you guys adding up fractions. Cheers from the land down under.

      I do a lot more tool videos vs build videos because that's what people watch more of. I do build projects about every 6 to 8 weeks, otherwise I do other type of content that gets more views because this is my full time job. Got to follow the data on what works.
