Here’s the bad thing about what chip is doing, we know it’s going to end up not being true. They always do these stories where his parents aren’t really who they supposedly portrayed themselves to be, maybe bad guys or he has a brother. They always end up being a swerve where they fake you out. it’s going to be a waste of time. Dc isn’t going to let you fundamentally change their top character like that.
I mean maybe I’m alone but I just never give a crap about Batman’s parents other than that they died. A little backstory on them is fine I guess if it pushes the plot forward but even then it’s just a snooz every time for me.
It never ceases to amaze me how DC and Marvel can allow their respective most popular characters to just linger in lameness. With even just average writers and artists those characters practically sell themselves (Batman and Spidey, of course), but I stopped reading both because the writing has been so bad for a long time now.

Really glad to see Batgirl on here! I really enjoyed it this week and was wondering if I would see it on your recommendations. It's the best Cassandra Cain has been written in a long time. The other comics from the big 2 that I enjoyed this week were Avengers vs Alien and Absolute Superman. Although Absolute Superman wasn't as good as Batman or Wonder Woman, and it did have some annoying Jason Aaronisms.
I did try Batgirl #1 because I loved the Puckett/Scott run. This is really the baseline of what I expect of a street level cape book. No trying to be cute. Just a middle of the road enjoyable issue.
At least with Lincoln March they didnt shit on Thomas Wayne and suggest he was having an affair. I know they will pull some lazy rug and undo it at the end, but making Thomas Wayne a cheater is the biggest L for me
Well, I’d probably argue that Geoff Johns gets it as well. 3 of his 5 books this year are in contention for best of the year. Decent week. Aliens vs. Avengers being the first good Marvel issue in a month or 2. From DC, I’d go with JSA and Action Comics. For Indies, The Sacrificers (Book of the week) and Conan Battle for the Black Stone. Nemesis just misses for stupidity like the “earthquake pen.”
Remember when Chip had Batman wear his underpants on his face when Batman free fel frim Space to the Arctic? Remember when Batman's hand was cut off? Chio's run was never good.
Wes, Zdarsky has always sucked. The only thing he's writing that was good is Howard the Duck and a few issues of Spider-Man. He put Daredevil in prison so he could write a Electra comic.
Can Chip Zdarsky just end his Batman run with a Who Shot JR moment where you realize everything from Tom King's run through James Tynion's run and ending with Chip Zdarsky's run was just a bad dream and Alfred wakes Bruce as he realizes that Alfred never died? Please Chip, do the right thing and make this happen! You can redeem yourself and your entire shitty run in one issue!
For Action Comics, I like that Clark traveled to Krypton before it’s destruction, met several Kryptonians, interacted with his parents and his infant self, and helped Jor-El invent the Phantom Zone Projector; while we get to see the Original Mon-El ask Aeyther what he is planning. Aside from the Conner and Kenan backup (which is just them dealing with the Khunds), this comic is good! For the Supergirl backup, it’s just Kara freeing herself and meeting her masked prisoner. That’s it. For Birds of Prey, I like that Cassandra (as the daughter of Matches Malone) tried and saved the Amazons from the Ninth Day cult before she was captured by them, saw the captured Amazons, and freed herself before she encountered something serious. I also like that the Birds of Prey are having a chat and that Dinah and Sin are talking about her and Megaera trying to live in coexistence and why she’s not part of the plan. Overall, this comic is good! For Little Batman: Month One, I like that we get to see Bruce and Damian, as Batman and Little Batman, spent their New Year’s Eve fighting crime before they’ve attending a dinner party. I also like that Bruce willingly gave himself up to Scarcrow to protect the people he loves after giving Damian a chat about him managing his civilian identity. Overall, this comic is wholesome, fun, and into a good start. For Batgirl, I like that we get to see Lady Shiva tell Cassandra about what’s going happen to her before they worked together to fight the Unburied. Ami also find it amusing that Cassandra disappeared right in front of Shiva because she’s Batman’s daughter. Overall, this comic is onto a good start. For JSA, I like that the second-generation JSA (aka the Infinity Inc. JSA) are having a meet in to talk about what’s going on and what happened to the rest of the JSA after dealing with Kobra. I also like that we get to see personal conflicts to one another while the rest of the JSA tried to find a way to free themselves from that Tower of Fate. I even like that the final page shows Johnny Sorrow pretending to be Obsidian and telling the new ISA what his plans are for the JSA. Jeff Lemire has don’t fantastic work on the JSA, showing what he’s got for All In. Overall, this comic is onto a good start. For Shazam, I like that Billy and Captain Marvel learned from the God of the Forge that the amber lightning was created by him and that it held onto Freddy to test if he can use the power for good or evil. Let’s hope that they, Mary, Uncle Marvel, and Freddy can save Freddy from the amber lightning and defeat the Monster Society in the next issue. Overall, this comic is good. For Batman, It’s interesting that Bruce learned of Mayor Nakano’s death and worked together with Harvey Bullock and Jim Gordon before he encountered Edward Nygma and discovered the connection of the Court of Owls, learned of a secret brother by Dr. Leslie Thompkins, and learn that Gordon was defending himself when he attacked him. Overall, this comic is interesting. For MAWS, I like that Amazo sacrificed himself to defeat Bloodsport and save the world before Clark (with help from Lois, Jimmy, and the Kents) was able to save him. I also like that Clark showed Amazo a memory of him celebrating the holiday season with his parents. Overall, this is a good comic. For the Green Arrow 2024 Annual, I like that Oliver told his grandchildren and great-grandchildren about the times he encountered and fought Firestarter all throughout his entire career as the Green Arrow before he learned who Firestarter really is and was able to defeat him with help from his great-grandchildren (who became the Speedys of their era). Joshua Williamson has done an excellent job wrapping up his story on Green Arrow. Overall, this comic is great! For Absolute Superman, I like that we get to see a version of Kal-El have an interesting life on Krypton before he revealed his existence to the public when he saved the civilians from Lazarus Corps. Jason Aaron has done a great job of providing backstory and origins to this version of Superman. Overall, this comic is onto a great start. For Blood Hunters, I like that the Blood Hunters saved Miles from harm before they dealt with the Bloodcoven. Let’s hope that they’ll defeat them in the final issue. Overall, this comic is okay. For Spider-Society, it’s just the Spider-Society and a newly-reformed Gwen Goblin defeating an evil Aunt May (who’s origins show her witnessing the death of her Uncle Ben and Peter, becoming a villain after joining Norman Osborn, and creating the Sinister Squadron) and saving the Spider-Verse before teasing another Spider-Verse event, which will be Spider-Verse vs. Venom-Verse. That’s it. For Venom War: Spider-Man, I like that Peter was able to save MJ from harm and that she helped him with all of his problems and responsibilities as himself and Spider-Man. However, since Paul is still here, it’s unlikely that Peter and MJ will get back together (unless a new writer after Joe Kelly fixes it and/or Nick Lowe is off of the Spider-Man books). Overall, aside from the Greg Land art, this comic is okay. For I Hate Fairyland, I like that Gertrude tried to recruit the people of Fairyland in order to defeat Happy and her army after learning about her return. Let’s hope that Gertrude and Happy will have a battle in the next issue. Overall, this comic is good. For Ducktales, I like that Scrooge told Huey, Dewey, and Louie about his adventures while walking around Duckburg. Also, cameos of DT87 characters, who will be used in upcoming issues. Overall, this comic is fun and onto a good start!
Can any writer in the past 25 years write Batman without the need to throw in flashbacks and retroactive continuity? Every single person who writes him feels the need to travel back to his past and add stuff. It’s kind of cheap plot device writing if you ask me🤷♂️

Conan Black Stone #3 was well written, and except for three 'deaths'' in three pages, very little happens. Why isn't this just two issues instead of four? Titan is padding it! But JSA #1 by Lemire is worthy of issue #2!
The Silver Age Flash (Barry Allen), the Silver Age Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), the Silver Age Superman (Clark Kent/Kal-El), the Silver Age Wonder Woman (Princess Diana/Diana Prince), the Silver Age Mr. Mxyzptlk, Chemo, Deadshot, Gorilla Grodd, Adam Strange and the Martian Manhunter. All of these DC Comics comic book super-hero and super-villain characters had first appeared in the 1950s. There will never be any characters more original. Even still to this day. They just don't create them like this anymore.
Zdarsky was never good. So damn derivative, now of himself. His Daredevil was brutally overrated, just pulling parts of Miller and Burbaker. Dropped his Batman after 4 issues.

Again with the secret sibling and rich being oh so bad and protesters clearly being modeled as "conservative"? Is Chip copying Tom Taylor's homework? With the Orange Man back now, this sort of thing is just gonna get worse, isn't it? Batgirl #1 was surprisingly entertaining. Action and good visuals. JSA #1 was ok-ish. It felt like there was an before issue missing, but the ending was intriguing. Absolute Superman #1 was abysmal. I also read a book called Skin Police. Issue 2 came out this week. A fun, sci-fi, dystopia comic book.
Valerio Giangiordano's art reminds me very much of 2000AD's Arthur Ranson, known for his work on Judge Anderson, Button Man, Mazeworld, detailed, gritty, realistic. I'll keep an eye out for Nemesis.
yea when I saw that "red Wayne" panel and all the clear political references I was so turned off. I want comics to be an ESCAPE from reality, not another persons opinion shoved in my face. Going to stop buying until Lee's run starts next year
If i took over DC i would reboot Batman by making Bruce parent survive just like in Absolute Bats which made Bruce non toxic paranoia person and became Batman which more wiser, friendlier and socialible like person
God I’m so glad I dropped Batman over a year ago. I remember being excited when chip got the title. May be the most wrong I’ve ever been on a comic book.
Zdarsky's Daredevil run was a rehash of better writers such as Miller, Bendis, and Brubaker. There was nothing original about it, except having Elektra becoming DD, which was just idiotic.
I want to read a comic not a fanfic of whining children who don't realize that people are not gonna be talked down on by somebody who NEED THEM not the other way around
As a Cassandra Cain fan I expected more this new comic. I don't like when Cass has to deal with your evil mother's issues, her best stories are the ones that explore the aspects of your personality. I hope the writing improve in the next arc. And for Avengers vs Aliens have a very boring and pointless plot. Decades of a long-war between Earth's heores against the Xenomorphs is very illogical since Marvel heroes has faced much worse threats. Overall it was another bad week for me.
I didn’t like a lot of Nick cartoons or read a lot of DC comics. But my favorite Nick cartoons are Fairly Odd Parents; Hey, Arnold; Avatar: The Last Airbender For Superman I liked The Death of Superman and The Return of Superman.
For me, Nickelodeon was a different experience because I grew up in the 1980s and by the time that it was the 1990s, Nickelodeon had changed a lot. I will try to remember as much as I can. For my top ten Nickelodeon animated cartoons, they are... 1. The Mysterious Cities Of Gold 2. Belle And Sebastian 3. Spartacus And The Sun Beneath The Sea 4. The World Of David The Gnome 5. Nickelodeon's Fairy Tales 6. Zoom The White Dolphin 7. A tie between Duckula or Star Trek: The Animated Series (old reruns were shown on Nickelodeon back in the '80s) 8. Danger Mouse 9. Banana Man 10. Any Nickelodeon original animated motion picture that was either a fantasy or science-fiction story. They once had an adaptation of the Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling that had Roddy McDowell as the voice of Mowgli, and there was even a sci-fi movie about aliens in the future that was based on an old science-fiction novel. I can't remember the name of it, but it was really cool. It looked like Star Wars. I think it was based on a book written by either Isaac Asimov or Robert A. Heinlein. For my top ten favorite Superman stories, they are... 1. Crisis On Earths One And Two 2. Crisis On Infinite Earths 3. Legends 4. Millennium 5. Invasion! 6. Cosmic Odyssey 7. Armageddon 2001 8. The War Of The Gods 9. Action Comics, Vol. 1, # 718, February, 1996 (the first appearance and origin of Demolitia) 10. Superman, Vol. 1, # 592, September, 1987 (the first appearance and origin of Sleez)
It is not as bad as Morrison's and Tom King's run. Zdarsky didn't project his mother issues on any character, didn't create a self-insert like Damian, didn't destroy 30 years of continuity, and it isn't cringe-worthy as Tom King's dialogue. Honestly, Ed Brubaker remains the last good Batman writer, and Morrison spit on everything due to his narcissism.
I just had my second hated story since I switched & started reading manga, I just finished the Mushoku Tensei novel & I hated the ending, probably the biggest letdown of a story that I’ve ever read. I just finished it an hour ago, I’m so annoyed haha.
@@GalvatronoverOh there were so many things I hated, vol 25 & 26 were a massive letdown. I don’t want to put spoilers here in case someone is reading it, but there’s things that are talked about throughout the entire series & they just never happen in the end. And then the explanation for a big event that happened earlier in the series that’s the driving force for the entire series ends up being totally ridiculous. Then the final battle is crap full of convenient wins with people showing up multiple times at just the right moment, while the enemy doesn’t make a single right move, Rudy is left alive on 3 separate occasions while he could have easily been finished off for absolutely no reason. Oh I just hated it, and it’s terrible because I loved every single volume right up to the last 2.
@@AL-ws5yi I don’t like telling people not to read it, because I loved the first 24 volumes, it’s just the end that I hated. And it’s possible the things I cared about in the series won’t be that important to you, I think if you care more about the characters you’ll actually like the ending, but for me it was events that I wanted an answer to, and that main event I had thought was linked to another character, and it wasn’t, and that was the biggest letdown, that event and the person that I thought I was going to see, and it just never happened.
Zdarsky has gotten so bad lately. We get it chip, you’ve been poor your entire life so you envy the rich because you have built up this boogeyman because you never have been around people with money or been rich.

Starlight, Superior, Kick-Ass, Huck, Chrononauts, do not have this little guy v illuminati thing you might not be fond of. There's more but that is just the first few that come to mind. Check em out!
“You’re opinion is clearly in the minority” is not a reason to not say how you feel. Or write how you feel. The question is does it result in a good story. Having evil rich people as villains is a trope that has worked a billion different times. The story he’s trying to write could be good and also not something you agree with politically. Those things aren’t mutually exclusive. Unfortunately it has to evolve naturally and not feel like it’s being shoved down your throat. That’s where the real problem is.

The first arc was pretty good I liked all the multiverse jumping after that it's been pretty mid
Thanks for the efforts fellas. Solid Conan continues. Millar gets my money without hesitation. I’ll have to give Batgirl a shot✌️
I dropped the Batman books last year. I’m only getting the Jeph Loeb one.
I like the conan is story about the strong & independent now. Both in main series and in black stone.
Batman had a secret brother back in the seventies. He wound up in a worlds finest Deadman crossover.
Ain’t no modern writers ever read a PreCrisis DC book ever😂
@RamManNo1 Any that do claim that nobody before them could write a good story.
This is probably the worst thing that happend since our Talia hater Morrsion created D*mian.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Damian was a good idea but the idiot didn’t remember the relationship was consensual and just made Talia 🍇 him
Chip zdarski worst writer of all time
Zdarsky's Daredevil run was a rehash of better writers such as Miller, Bendis, and Brubaker. There was nothing original about it, except having Elektra becoming DD, which was just idiotic.
Electra was finally allow to evolve for a more heroic character after 30 years being very bland person.
I want to read a comic not a fanfic of whining children who don't realize that people are not gonna be talked down on by somebody who NEED THEM not the other way around
Conan back here again, looks like a really good comic run, hope people are supporting it.
Always said it terrible writer
As a Cassandra Cain fan I expected more this new comic. I don't like when Cass has to deal with your evil mother's issues, her best stories are the ones that explore the aspects of your personality. I hope the writing improve in the next arc. And for Avengers vs Aliens have a very boring and pointless plot. Decades of a long-war between Earth's heores against the Xenomorphs is very illogical since Marvel heroes has faced much worse threats. Overall it was another bad week for me.
I have two questions for anyone on here.
1. What are your top 10 favorite nick cartoons ?
2. What are your top ten favorite Superman stories.
I didn’t like a lot of Nick cartoons or read a lot of DC comics. But my favorite Nick cartoons are Fairly Odd Parents; Hey, Arnold; Avatar: The Last Airbender
For Superman I liked The Death of Superman and The Return of Superman.
For me, Nickelodeon was a different experience because I grew up in the 1980s and by the time that it was the 1990s, Nickelodeon had changed a lot. I will try to remember as much as I can. For my top ten Nickelodeon animated cartoons, they are...
1. The Mysterious Cities Of Gold
2. Belle And Sebastian
3. Spartacus And The Sun Beneath The Sea
4. The World Of David The Gnome
5. Nickelodeon's Fairy Tales
6. Zoom The White Dolphin
7. A tie between Duckula or Star Trek: The Animated Series (old reruns were shown on Nickelodeon back in the '80s)
8. Danger Mouse
9. Banana Man
1. Crisis On Earths One And Two
2. Crisis On Infinite Earths
3. Legends
4. Millennium
5. Invasion!
6. Cosmic Odyssey
7. Armageddon 2001
8. The War Of The Gods
9. Action Comics, Vol. 1, # 718, February, 1996 (the first appearance and origin of Demolitia)
You mean "Mommy Talia Al Ghul" for our boy Grant Damian. 😂😂😂😂
Tom king run is crap, thanks to him Batman is a simp
@@MoonX6 Talia was honestly the Batman true love in the O’Neil and Adam’s era
Can we please stop wrapping on the Morrison run already?! It was not that bad jezz!
The self insert angle is new to me, but I don't understand how Morrison's run can be considered worse than Zdarsky's garbage.
I just had my second hated story since I switched & started reading manga, I just finished the Mushoku Tensei novel & I hated the ending, probably the biggest letdown of a story that I’ve ever read. I just finished it an hour ago, I’m so annoyed haha.
What was so bad about it
@@GalvatronoverOh there were so many things I hated, vol 25 & 26 were a massive letdown.
@@InfamyOrDeath-__-I was debating starting on this but I guess I’ll skip it.
Especially Earth. So weak.
Aliens vs. Avengers was top tier. Hickman has merged the worlds together seamlessly.
SoooO was Zdarsky's Daredevil run good or not. .?
Why don’t you read it and form an opinion.
@cicolasnage5684 I don't like Daredevil however I have heard of the heaps of praise for his Daredevil run, so which is it?
Overall - no. Starting off? Yes.
Zdarsky has gotten so bad lately. We get it chip, you’ve been poor your entire life so you envy the rich because you have built up this boogeyman because you never have been around people with money or been rich.
Mark Millar? The guy who keeps writing the same story. The 'Little Guy' versus the 'Secret Evil Illuminati'? That Mark Millar? I would love to see him actually branch out.
Starlight, Superior, Kick-Ass, Huck, Chrononauts, do not have this little guy v illuminati thing you might not be fond of. There's more but that is just the first few that come to mind. Check em out!
@@32FONickweiser Oh it's there. It's the only story he has.
@@Slitheringpeanut Exactly what part of Chrononauts has that?
Eh I didn't mind Electra being daredevil. She didn't change so much she had a long con she was going to pull and sacrifice mat.
I really enjoyed Zdarsky Batman! It was a while since i felt something about Batman..
JSA and Absolute Superman deserve to be on this list.
…one out of two ain’t bad. 😂
Two things I predicted:
1. Trump returning.
2. Shortyrara channel dying.
'The Sacrificers' is awful, and almost every character is basically evil, why on Earth would that be a recommend??
Aleins?
❤❤❤
Dude, you said Kamala would win, what is up? Stop watching The View, come back down to the real world!
I liked Absolute Superman a lot, Batgirl was also surprisingly good
