These girls precede Lovebites by maybe 10 years. So give them their dues. They are still going, with Terry Bozio;s daughter on drums.
Aldious came way before LOVEBITES and Band-Maid and they are rock / pop-rock / power metal with a little thrash. They even did an Aldiouscore track. 😬
The dresses are based on Hostess bar costumes and this is a deliberate juxtaposition, like LOVEBITES elegant white outfits and Band-Maid’s uniforms.
I love Aldious, musically they are way up there. Sure, Dominator is power metal but they do many styles of rock, they are just a great band and made some excellent music - all members write so it’s pretty varied too.
If you want to see how different they can be, check out “Die for You” or “Reincarnation” both very different and at different ends of their spectrum.
Aldious are best live, they tour all the time and have an excellent stage presence. I think their fan base are people that like raw and honest female generated rock - they inspired a whole genre in Japan btw, they are the OGs.
Big fan of Aldious, they are the only band I ever ran into that I like all of their songs, not a filler on any albums.
Even Lovebites and Band Maid have songs I skip over.
And their Discography is massive, and they have performed with 4 singers that are all great. And several of their songs they have variations Metal and Acoustic. Part of being metal is being rebellious and Lovebites is serious as a heart attack listen to their new song Dissonance and it will kick your ass it's alot harder than Band Maid could dream of doing
Theyre not just a powermetal band they also have songs that are hardrock numetal and almost poprock like bandmaid.

I think Camilla's right on the costumes. They're like feminine caratures, that put off an almost childlike vibe, kinda weird.
. Don't love the style-speed, thrash, metal. I don't recall calling Rainbow "metal", back in 70s/80's just hard rock. They used the old style organ/keys that modern metal rarely does & were more melodic than angry thrash, I think.

This is the very first band I began my journey with Jrock or Jmetal, from there I started with Bridear and then the mighty and most ultimate band in the world Lovebites, no one does it better than Lovebites. There is absolutely no comparison to Lovebites not even in the music they play, if you have only done one video of Lovebites then I strongly suggest you do more and see first hand the huge difference.
Hey Sal.. They don't like Lovebites, Check out their reaction to Swan song.. Nuff said... And it would appear they don't like Aldious either... If they took the time to listen to either band they would realise that they play better thrash than most.. It would appear they can't handle Beautiful classy women killing the metal scene.. Aldious were one of the first of the new wave of Japanese girl-metal bands to form in the early 2000’s, along with Destrose, Cyntia and existTtrace. They are, in their hearts, a metal band, but have done a lot of exploring of various styles and genres.
Personnel:
Yoshi has been the constant (founder, lead guitar, band manager, audience right).
Toki (co-lead guitar, pink Flying-V, audience left) joined a year later and has also been a constant, except in 2019 when she took time off to have a baby (during that time, Narumi toured with them for a year, in between solo projects).
Sawa (bass) was there briefly at the beginning, left, and rejoined in 2010.
Marina (drums) replaced Aruto, the original drummer, in 2014. Marina is the step daughter of the legendary Terry Bozzio, who played with Frank Zappa for almost two decades.
As with many of the Japanese bands, Aldious have a rock solid rhythm section, over which the guitars and vocals have free range to do their thing.
The biggest changes have been at vocals. Rami, the original vocalist, left in 2012 and Re-No took over. Their most commercially successful period was with Re-No, despite some controversy among their fans over whether she was “metal” enough. Re-No retired for medical reasons in 2018, and R!N stepped in. They seem to have bad luck with this position, as R!N announced she was leaving as of July 2021, also for medical reasons, after recording a few songs. Fans have vigorously debated the very different styles of the three women, with Rami being considered the most “metal” but all three bringing a unique sound to the mix. Maki Oyama has been filling in at vocal for some performances. The question now is whether they will find a permanent vocalist.

This last one features a spectacular collaboration with classical violinist Chieko Kinbara; it suggests Aldious could have gone in a symphonic rock direction if they chose.

Its ok to not love powermetal, but Lovebites is much more than that. Several pure thrash songs too. And more mixes of metal. I like many of the early Aldious songs and then with another singer. But they are not even close to Lovebites. Neither in creativity, musicianship nor vocally

I'm surprised they started you on Aldious when they have bigger fan bases for other all female Japanese metal and rock bands like Band Maid , Lovebites, and Nemophila, and also Mary's Blood. Here's a link to the title track for Lovebites 4rth album being released February 22nd. this will blow your mind every member in this band is a musical prodigy together it's not fair to other bands they have not one awesome lead guitarist but 2 and one also plays concert level piano the drummer is the best I have seen in years the singer used to sing R&B but switched to power metal the new bassist as well as their earlier founder/bassist are both very solid bass players. Vocals Asami, Bass Fami, Guitar Midori, Guitar/piano Miyako, Drums Haruna. they also sing in english and won the metal hammer golden god award for best new band in 2018 the same award won by bands like Anthrax and Avenged Sevenfold.
