The issue is in dream, you can't think that it's a imagination of your mind.
Same is true in waking stage. You will know it's imagination, only when you are established in Turiya.

It is because of Avidya embedded in Buddhi. This Avidya effects Jiva in two ways - Aavarana Shakti ( veil of ignorance in buddhi ) and Vikshepa Shakti ( external disturbances projected by mind)

This sums up the essence of whole Vedanta. The dream world is real until one awakens from it. likewise, the phenomenal world is real until one awakens from it. The dream & phenomenal worlds are appearances projected by mind in one and all Consciousness. Body, Mind and World is a mere name and form in one Consciousness.

IF the dream state arises by the union of knower and known, what can one claim about virtual reality? When one interacts with the video game, or software, is one in a objectively defined, intersubjective reality with perdurable essences where both knower and known arise concomitantly? If the dream state is the main example by which the waking sate and the deep sleep state are understood, and if Virtual reality is a modified version of the dream state, then virtual reality can be a main example. The difference is that the creator of the virtual reality is not this one knower, but makes a reality for many knowers.

Hari Omji and Pranams to all! I would like to ask a question to those who consider themselves able to give a sharp answer to it... Here it goes...
a thought in form of question came to me...
As the svapnāvasthā is totally experienced in the mind only, and the jagradavasthā experienced by physical body AND mind... And as body is totally inert and insenscient and only mind borrowing sensciency from Consciousness... Could we consider that what we experience in jagradavasthā is just the same dream but with the adding of the body? So, that's why also jagradavasthā is not real, besides the fact of this state depends on Consciousness to exist? Or is it a dream inside another dream?
    Did i make myself clear?
    Om! 🙏🏼

    • @anuragaggarwal2950

Hari Om Rodrigo, I will make an humble attempt to express my views about your question based on my understanding of Vedanta so far. Here the focus is on the knowability rather than the content which are known and how they are known.
In the waking state we get the information (of the external world as well as our own pre-existing thoughts, feelings etc) via our sense organs (gross body) which are further processed with mind and finally presented/known by the true self (pure consciousness). In dream state the process is exactly the same, just the objects belongs to internal world (our thoughts, feelings and other mental impressions) rather than external world and the perception of these objects take place via mental organs of perceptions rather than physical sense organs. In both of these states, the knowability happens when the result of these two processes are presented to the consciousness.
Now to the question you are asking, as in both states the existence of the whole process and its components depends on consciousness, therefore is waking state is not real (same as we generally understand that dream state is not real). My answer is two folds, from ultimate reality perspective (pure consciousness), the existence of both states depends on consciousness and hence they can't exists on their own, therefore both of these states are equally unreal. The Sanskrit terminology for this is "Mythya" which means existence of one thing depends on another and it can't exist on its own and hence it does not exists truly. The English translation as "false" is bit misleading due to the limitation of language. However from transactional reality perspective, these two states are equally real in terms of how the process of perception works, but from the content of perception we have to give more importance to the waking state as compared to the dream state.
I hope this explanation helps and apologies if I have confused you more.
      Regards,
      Anurag
