A few things I've learned while using solidworks over the last 5 years that pertain to subjects covered in this video: - You mentioned using width mates around 9:00 in the video, an easier way of doing this is to hold Ctrl and select the 4 faces or planes that will be used for the width mate and then press your mate key. Something else about width mates- your mate selection screen will be set to the "advanced mates" pulldown menu after creating a width mate, so if you continue trying to generate mates of standard type (regular face to face mates, etc) you will have to switch back to the "standard mates" menu. I find it easier to just hit escape a few times and the mate key again as it defaults to "standard mates." - It is well worth investing the extra few dollars in getting a decent mouse with a few side buttons. I have buttons on my mouse bound to: escape, enter, mate, rebuild and save. On my space navigator I have Ctrl and Shift. This saves a large amount of time once you get familiar with it. Mouse gestures are also worth looking into, but I'm sure those are covered in another video.
In regards to the Shortcut "S key" Toolbar, how did you create empty space to organize your buttons? I like the way you had your views organized. I never use it because everything just gets packed in there too tightly. If I could add some blank space between the buttons I think I'd use it a lot. Thanks for the video!
The video ends in the middle of explaining the speed pack. That looked like something I could use. I will investigate. Thanks for tips: Fit spline to get ride of the junction line on the 3d spline. Tab key to flip direction of mates. Link value to create a variable during the dimensioning processing. Good stuff. thanks.
