- Today is the 1st of March, the day we celebrate the Cursed Soldiers in Poland: these were men who continued the struggle after WWII and tirelessly fought the communists. The communists hunted them, tortured them brutally and then sentenced them to death in show trials, often to death, before dumping their bodies in unknown locations.
Many of the judges and prosecutors avoided punishment for these terrible crimes, but some are still alive: one such man is Stefan Michnik, a Stalinist judge suspected of committing 30 crimes bearing the hallmarks of crimes against humanity.
Despite a second European arrest warrant, Sweden refuses to extradite him, claiming a statute of limitations. Except there is no statute of limitations on crimes against humanity.
We want Sweden to either extrate Mr Michnik, or to try him themselves. Communist totalitarian crimes against humanity cannot go unchecked, unchallenged or unpunished.
