On September 13th 2010, analogue signals were cut off for good, as BRF Eins, BRF Zwei, RTL/RTL Drei, Kanal Vier, and Funf converted their analogue signals to digital. Satellite Television already went full digital on October 23rd 2004, while cable television already cut the cord on Analogue on July 5th 2001. This completed the "Digitales Fernsehen für alle" promise that was created on June 17th 1999 by the 5 channels with help from the Government.
They should have made it a nice hint to the traditional closedown by playing the national anthem.
Britain went completely digital about a month earlier with Newcastle/North Yorkshire being the final region to turn off it's analogue signal.
Some say that some people are still watching the BBC Test Card.
