The Lost Boys is a 1987 American teen comedy horror film directed by Joel Schumacher and starring Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Corey Feldman, Dianne Wiest, Edward Herrmann, Alex Winter, Jamison Newlander, and Barnard Hughes.
The film is about two Arizonan brothers who move to California and end up fighting a gang of teenage vampires.
The majority of the film was shot in the city of Santa Cruz, California, and the surrounding Santa Cruz Mountains. The amusement park scenes were filmed at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
The interior of the house was all shot on sets built on Stage 15 at Warner Brother's Studios in Burbank, California.
At the end of the boardwalk there is a very small railroad bridge. A lot of Lost Boys fans believe this to be the bridge that they hang off of in the film but that is incorrect. The bridge they actually used is over 300 miles away in the city of Valencia, California. Just off of the 5 Freeway at Magic Mountain Parkway and only a few hundred feet away from the exit stands the old railroad bridge.
The cave is over 350 miles away in Palos Verdes, California. This is actually the former location of California's very first theme park called Marineland.
The interior of the cave in the film was all a set built on Stage 12 at the Warner Brother's lot in Burbank.

I was a kid whose grandparents took her to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk... then my favorite place was in a movie that became my favorite movie as a teenager... and beyond. It made a special movie extra special for me.

I can't even begin to explain just how much I love this film. It's one of the earliest films I remember watching religiously, and falling in love with the characters, the location, the music and the story, and oh yeah, a very young and gorgeous Kiefer Sutherland. It is just fantastic. I would just love to visit Santa Cruz someday, and see all these amazing places for myself. I'm so jealous. Great video.

45yrs old now...watch this movie when it first came out..never forgotten it..still the best damn vampire movie ever...was my favorite vampire movie then..and still is to this day...I just can't get with the new age vampires that sparkle and shit...my daughter is 28yrs old...I told her to watch this when that twilight bullshit came out.. its now her favorite vampire movie...Lost Boys is the shit and always will be!!

Had my two teenage boys watch this. I wanted them to see how good a movie can be and soundtrack as well. They loved it and will probably pass it on to their kids. Some things will never fade and I think this is one of them.
This was a cool movie and has become a cult classic for sure. I'm 45 (2019) btw...lol...but for me, we had our minds blown with Fright Night! All movies now, regardless of genre, usually fall prey to PC nonsense because we wouldn't want to offend anyone...dead or alive!

...and just like that, I long for Santa Cruz! God, Id give almost anything to go back there. I squatted in this house, slept under this boardwalk, watched the meteors fall from the sky on these cliffs, lived here on the streets and absolutely loved it.

Reminds me of how Ocean City, Maryland looked back in the day when this movie came out. Miss it so much!! Wish I could visit Santa Cruz! Doesn't look like much has as changed since the filming of the movie. Just a little. Have always loved the beach and here it looks like you get the best of both worlds - country and beach. I grew up going to OC, MD every summer and still do. It really hasn’t changed all that much. Aside from the rides at the pier which is now part of Jolly Roger. But the area from The Haunted House down to the end including all the Trimper rides is still the same. One of the things I love about OC is the nostalgia and wonderful childhood memories that I relive every summer.

wow, this video was absolutely amazing!! so jealous you were able to go to all those locations! the way you filmed it was freaking wonderful too! but I'm not gonna lie, it made me tear up a little cause I think what happened to Corey Haim is heart breaking... for all he went through in Hollywood and passing away without any kind of justice is so so sad...

I live in Santa Cruz, and from what people have told me the shots from inside the cave were actually shot on a sound stage in L.A .

I've always wondered who the surfer was in the opening scene when the camera view is coming from the ocean and getting closer to the land. If you look closely, you can see the guy pumping down the line barely skimming past the rocky outcropping. Balsy! Very Balsy even in the smaller surf. Great movie!!! Ageless.

I remember when I saw this for the first time, Bon Jovi's New Jersey was big back in the day, as was Megadeth and Metallica. Some of my best memories were of this era.
It was Slippery When Wet. New Jersey came out in I think 1989. A lot of great music that year and a great year for me. RIP Corey.

Some of the things that make this movie so memorable besides the interesting location, and the awesome acting of Corey Haim, Feldman, Jamie, Grandpa, and Kiefer Sutherland was how the soundtrack just fit in with the movie so well. The songs, with their eerie vibe, just complement the movie and scenery, and bring it to another level of excellence..
15 at the time this film came out, watched it over again, on video watched it all the time,all these years later takes me back to a time of freedom and innocence
