    I am relatively new to your channel, but I have greatly enjoyed all the content I have seen so far. I really appreciate all the wisdom and knowledge you have shared. Going back into your older videos, I watched your video about survival foods. Again thanks, but more importantly, thank you for the comment you made. I don't know how many of your viewers are younger like myself, but it is very valuable for those that we look up to to offer a mature model for life. This is something that appears to be sorely lacking in our society today. Thus, I am again very grateful when I find such models! I hope you have an outstanding week! Look forward to the next video.

    Josh, I'm really loving these time-lapse summaries. Great to watch both.

    Those moccasins does look great and the Native Americans must have enjoyed wearing them back centuries ago out of Buffalo hide left over after they had built their teepee and clothing. I am glad that the Bison is still with us in this country and I wondered if the government purchased some from Canada and put them in the national parks for the people to enjoy seeing.

    Thanks for showing it like that. It was good to just see it done real quick and you did it very well. Things you were doing and trying to show were understandable even in super fast forward. I can tell that you are a very well thought out person.

    Watching this series has made me decide to make a pair of winter mocs for my bride for Christmas, I will line them with Beaver fur with an extra sheepskin lining in the foot between the soles and Beaver skin.

      @GrayBeardedGreenBeret  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like they will be pretty cool Mocs!

      @@GrayBeardedGreenBeret I will have to order some of that rubber that you used on your soles. She prefers to wear lite weight socks or none at all in moccasins so the fur will be more comfortable than the boot liners. When I get to them and get them finished, I will email you pictures.

    I made temporary covers for my shoes that had lost their soles just like THIS. My tops were seperate, like half calf chaps, that way I could take off the calf covers when it was hotter part of day. These are prettier than the ones I made.

    Dang that was quick!! Like a moccasin Ninja!! May look into the summer ones. Can't really justify the expense of the winter ones and it doesn't really get that cold much anymore here in Arkansas.

      Yeah I can't imagine there would be too many days you would need Winter Mocs there. These are best for below 24 degrees in snow (and usually on top of snowshoes).

    LRB's tiny mocs next to your winter mocs... 🤣

    Do they use any insulation? And can you make the leather cutouts yourself so they match the shape of a real human foot (V shaped) or are they precut round shapes? I'm dissatisfied with my Steger Mukluks because they scrunch my toes with their small toe box. I need to learn to make my own using the proper shape of a foot.

    Fantastic episode Josh! I'd hate to now be looking for the step by step cause this makes it look too easy
    Seems my relationship isn't as strong as yours, I " borrowed" a couple of now broken needles and the Mrs is at waving the rolling pin around anger levels. Send help!

    Nice Work. I cant watch the fast speed videos. It messes with my eyes so I spend time reading the comments. You have a great community of people commenting on your videos.
    Thank you for all that you do for us.
    Happy Thanksgiving, Ya'll.

    I don't have a sewing machine but ordered a pair. Is there a video showing it that way. Mine were all hide rather then the canvas upper. What's the pros and cons from each other .. ? Is the bottom rubber necessary.. a beautiful stuff

    • @GrayBeardedGreenBeret
      @GrayBeardedGreenBeret  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe Lure of the North has instructional videos on making the Hide Uppers, yes. I didn't do a set of those personally. The hide uppers are meant for those that don't have a sewing machine so that they can be sewn by hand completely. Either are going to perform really well/similar. You don't have to do the rubber sole. It just prolongs the life of the moccasin by protecting the bottom which is where they will wear out over time. If you always wear these in appropriate conditions and they are always in good snow or on top of snowshoes (even better), they would also be protected pretty well without the sole. Where I live is a mix of snow, ice, and rock, so I wanted the protection.

      Bob Anderson oh okay gotcha. She is a subscriber that has been on here for quite awhile. I would give her the benefit of the doubt that she may have came off more abrasive than she meant to on that one.
