At first I didn’t know what game this was, couple years later I thought it was Garrys mod, now after I read the description I realize it’s half life 2
Used to watch this as a kid on my family's Windows XP, good times. :D

It's sad that these days kids know more about Garry's *Mod* than Half-life 2, Garry's *Mod* being a *mod* for Half-Life 2.

@CoolTom1337 It's a map editor. It lets you import your own custom textures, models, sounds, and other resources, and design a map with the resources already in the game and the ones that you may have imported. It's available from Steam, check it out. It's how you make maps for Source-engine based games.
I'm certain I saw this video when I was 9. I'm 22 now and only just played Half-Life 2 a year ago. Now everything makes sense.

@gamesloverjustice well ,yea of course it is, Freddie used programmes like 3D studio MAX , programmes that used for 3d animation using advanced rendering techniques. This here is a map created for a already existing game (half life 2) and one of the reasons that this is worse than freddies is that its rendered in real time ( you can download the map and play it)

@Legitimentful No, half life 2. You can still write levels for HL2 with source SDK, you dont need gmod to play custom levels.
@Briggsman1000 Yes it is. Its actually commonly used on synergy but is hl2 compatible... if you modify 1 or two things.

@gamesloverjustice the difference is that freddiew's was just a animation. This one is actually a game mod which is actually playable.
So glad I grew up with Half-Life and Garry’s Mod, honestly. A little Madden on the side too.

is sad to see where did freddiew's idea came from.. but the one he did (that wasn't a mod for an existing game, but an excelent 3d animation) was awesome
@MrGamerTH Um, this was made nearly 4 years before freddiew made his. Sure, his may have been better, but still. He sure as hell did a better job than what most people could do.
@filoscope This was a game with a hack in it. Freddie actually animated his.

Looks like GMod 9/10 due to maps like that mainly being made for GMod rather then vanilla Source 2006 HL2.

This is a half-life mod, Freddiew's was a 3D animation movie.

Very nice experimental mod. From an artistic stand-point, it's an excellent example how profound the HL2 modding community can become and how gracious we should be Valve gave us the tools to make stuff like this. Valve could have easily just ignored modding altogether to save money and time, but instead Valve sided with the community.

No, they are both 3D. Freddies video is CGi, this is from HL2 but they are both 3D. Did you think this was 2D? LOL

Lets clear some things up:
1) This is a Half Life 2 map. Garry's mod is a modification to that game, which is why they look similar.
2) You can't simply make something like this in Gmod. Genuine maps are made using the Source Software Development Kit, namely the Hammer editor.
3) If you look at the release date of this video and FreddieW's video, you can see that this came before.
4) FreddieW's video looks a whole lot better cause it was made using a professional grade modelling program.
