- The Brewer family has owned this house for more than hundred years, and Brittany’s and Doug’s children represent already the fifth generation living in the house. It is time to bring the house to the modern century and honor the family history at the same time.

The history is so special. My husband lives in the same house that his grandmother purchased, as a farm, in 1917. So that means our son is the 4th generation to live in our house. Many changes have been made over the last 100 plus years, but the stories of the farm are so special.
The screened room is amazing. It’s not a porch; it’s a room. Love this whole project

The porches are absolutely perfect. A day bed trundle in the screened in porch, for naps and nights.
Ok, I was so sure they would mess this up, and was getting ready to say they ruined it, lol! But no, lovely! It's almost like they took the house back to its real roots; like it was always supposed to be. Great job. LOVE the porch.

Dave and Jenny are the most kind hearted people. I love watching house renovation shows and I always find the ones done by Dave and Jenny manifest so much soul with lots of thoughts going into making the space beautiful, liveable and showcase the house history/the owner’s personality.

Nice design and the extra spaces are great. However a little color in the paint or trim or something!!!! would go a long way toward creating a more warm and inviting space. This house is ice cold

Honestly, I preferrred the original exterior.
It is gorgeous overall. I wonder though when built in baths (bathtubs for US peeps) come back. The freestanding ones put close to a wall are a nightmare for cleaning around them. First baths were freestanding and then we evolved to built ins.

Was epoxy put over the painted wallpaper on the ceiling in the bathroom? Wouldn't it start to peel in a few weeks or months from moisture damage???
this is so cool and beautiful❤❤ to have a family history ans remember is priceless... lol but usa housing layout is strange. No walls or gates around the house? windows by the bathtub? lol
The most important thing that needed to be fixed was obviously the kitchen, it really looked outdated

Its nice, but... with all the emphasis on the history of that very special family home - everything was ripped out! Nothing was really saved, except for some wood from a shed, and some old pieces from a salvage store. None of the previous generations would recognize that, not even the exterior, as the family home...

Some of the rooms look antiseptic white...
Cold and hard. Stripped of historical feel and warmth.
I think the whole house looks weirdly antiseptic white. Too much white! The good news is paint is cheap and can be fixed. Some warmth would go a long way.
And only me but a bathtub directly in front of a window facing neighbors means that shade/curtain/blind is always going to be down! Lol

They make shades that go up from the bottom. Another option is shutters. I am not an exhibitionist either, lol...
But why does everything have to be white?😂 I would’ve liked to see a pop of color on the kitchen cabinets.

I'd screen at least the sittin' spots on the porch. I assume the flying insect pests attack people everywhere as they do where I live.

bad idea to remove a sink
I was thinking the same thing. Especially in the master bedroom, but they said that is what they wanted. Oh well its theirs and both of them seem very happy with their designs.
I'd rather have counter space and more room under than two sinks.😊
