This is brilliant. Did you use a particular sample pack for this for the textures and atmospheric sounds? Or make yourself and mangle in the Digitakt?

Thanks !! DT II is definitely a massive improvement over the OG DT. Otherwise it's impossible to recommend it or advise against it without knowing your background and what you want to do with it or hope to achieve with it. From my perspective it offers a lot for the money.

Hypnotic! What are your sample sources for something like this? Do you sample other instruments you own? Field recordings? Third party sample packs?
Except for one HH, these are all my own samples. I had already prepared some things beforehand (drum loops, processed field recondings) and I sampled some things from Syntakt and Minifreak for this track (bass, pads, melody).
Next step. Pack sample in stéréo 🤔
Nice idea.. but I would have to be a little more organized.. almost impossible. I didn't consider the possibility of a stereo DT back then. but DigiSphere 2 will most likely come... can't wait to get to work on new sounds ;)
Was this heavily mastered? I’d love to know how much of the final sound was in the dtII
No ... definitely not heavily mastered! Just icing on the cake as mastering should be used ideally. almost no gain reduction with a limiter .. just a few peaks trimmed .. a little stereo widening, eqing and glue .. that's it. But some of the samples are heavily processed... especially the drum loops.
How would you say the DTII has changed (improved?) your workflow?
That remains to be seen... I rushed to get the first track finished as quickly as possible and haven't even started exploring and trying out everything new yet. But the stereo samples alone and the amount of available tracks make a huge difference. I also really enjoyed the new filters (especially the comb filter). It really feels like a successor and not a MK2... that's for sure :)
I hope you haven't got a sneaky USB hidden away that goes to overbridge for a final mix because I love how you mix in the box, it's quite a tricky skill to master.😌
pretty sure he has not cause till now Digitakt 2 doesn’t support Overbeidge :-) It’s just in development, in beta phase.
No trickery involved.. just 30 years of experience.. enough time to make almost every possible mistake and learn from it.. which never stops 😉
