They SHOULD salvage everything salvageable in those homes so it's not just more waste. I really hate waste. So much is just thrown away these days. Resell, repurpose, reuse it!

Kind of crazy that a house this nice is already tear down status. People really have too much $ and not enough land lmao.

You are right .Homeless people will mess up those houses so bad they have no care. And it’s not no one place to keep them n a home there is a difference in a hand up and supporting them.

It sounds like these 3 homeowners were paid enough money to walk away from their homes and rebuild elsewhere. The developer will make a fortune tearing down, rebuilding, and selling townhouses.

No homeless deserve a mansion they wouldn’t appreciate this. Allowing someone who would and could afford to buy it is the more appropriate option.

The problem is there's not enough affordable housing

I think its extremely sad that they are tearing down beautiful homes that are built different than most other houses to put up stupid townhouses. Very upsetting

Just an utter waste of resources tearing down perfectly good houses. Profit over life. I don’t believe they need to be filled with homeless, as that’s a whole other issue of it’s own. It’s just a shining example of a throw away society. Great explore Ethan.

I think that to demolish homes full of precious materials is a terrible waste. I hope they salvage as many of these materials as possible. And I would never take a homeless person under my roof. Look what happened to Elizabeth Smart when her family tried to lend a hand to a homeless man.

WOW Ethan! First time you show this much sensibility about the fact that houses are demolished. I'm really touched, I feel the same. You're a good person, you don't need to justify anything. Keep up the good work, love the houses, and long live!

Love to see all the homes. I’d be interested in seeing anything! These 3 houses just broke my heart. I can only imagine the family celebrations they had there. The holiday decorations must have been so magical. Truly a loss. Thank you for sharing again!

You are absolutely right. Homelessness is a symptom of a much larger issue. Many homeless people have mental health issues. Putting these people in abandoned homes is only going to delay getting the medical help they require.

As a former nanny + house manager, cabinets are labeled for the help, to make sure things go back in the right place. I've seen it before.

It would cost 1mil at min to build each of those homes in todays economy. Back in 2004 maybe $500,000 to build. But each of those homes if built in 04 they’ve all been updated big time very recently with 100s of thousands of dollars. Those houses are all very modern.

Just sort of rabbit-holed my way here (TH-cam!), but am now fascinated with these empty home tours. Such a comment on the excesses of our consumer society that even HOUSES are essentially tossed away. I know that’s not really the case, and much of this phenomenon has to do with the real estate madness that dominates housing in general, but still…it’s so weird to see often perfectly liveable homes sit empty and rotting. And you’re right, it’s really NOT up to private owners to solve the homelessness issue: governments of all levels have to get together, get creative, and start building social housing, co-ops, family-oriented purpose built housing. Unfortunately, the ‘market’ has failed to solve the housing problem. Here in Vancouver where I live, the majority of new builds are sold off-shore and sit empty while the homeless live in tents on the street outside those newly built empty condos!

I do agree with you on people should not be expected to home homeless people but if they’re being torn down they should salvage what they can to give to habitat for humanity or a charity that needs the materials!

Why do those have to be demolished? What is wrong with them? For those idiots who vandalized the houses someday karma will catch up with them. It's pointless to damage perfectly good homes. Ethan I love your videos.

I agree with you. Sadly we live in a Disposable Society.
