I asked myself the same question, as Elvey feels important, but a little under cooked. Due to the amount of characters in a 26 episode series though, most of RahXephon's cast generally feels a little under cooked. I do think she's important though as essentially Haruka's best friend, she lends an overall supportive presence and certain writing quirks were also interesting. I'm glad the video turned out well!
