I made these and they are everything you say they are Ellen. I was looking for a teacake recipe that taste like my moms and these were spot on. Thanks a million!!!
i guess Im randomly asking but does any of you know a method to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost the password. I appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Justus Pierce Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Thanks, these look wonderful. Ain’t nobody does it like granny, but it’s nice to have that taste and smile to bring us back to sitting in the kitchen with granny. Have a blessed day!!
I’m in my seventies and grew up in South Louisiana. I recently discovered the many YT videos sharing the family recipes and memories of tea cakes. I’ve never heard of any of this, although my Mom and Grandmother baked all the time. How did this wonderful tradition escape us?????
My grandmother was a great southern cooking. She was born and raised in Louisiana. I lost her recipe and I think this is really close to her recipe. I have been searching for a good recipe. I and going to make some today! Thank you so much!
I remember tea cakes coming home from school and we would smell him from down the road and we knew her mom was making tea cakes taking me back old memories and I'm 65 years old
I made these for my dad every Father's Day and his birthday. His mom made these growing up. Only thing different is it didn't have lemon or almond in it..He passed away in 98 and I haven't made them since then. I started when I was 16 making them and I was 35 the last time. I can still see his face light up like a little boy when I'd make them for him...🤗🤗😪😪❤❤❤❤
These are some of the finest looking tea cakes I have ever seen! I loved how you flavored them with the vanilla, lemon, almond, and nutmeg. I’m adding this recipe to my collection. Thank you so much!
We used to eat these with beans whenever my grandmother made them. OMG nostalgia! I'm making this tonight!!! Thank you so much for this amazing recipe! I can't wait to share these with my children! Yaaay!!!
OMG I grew up in Noxubee county MS. We didn't have much but Miss Lillie would make us youngins tea cakes and call us to the back door and give us each a big ole warm tea cake. Around Christmas she'd add almond flavoring to make them more special. To me a warm tea cake was like a big old hug. Thank you for the recipe! Can't wait to try it.
🙋🏿♀️Hi Ellen! Today is Sunday, October 6, 2024, and today my granddaughter is with me and we are making this delicious recipe! Thank you for sharing this awesome recipe online! I can hardly wait; they're chilling at this time. Be bless 🙌🏾 🫂💞
Francine Thompson /U r exactly right I saw several and none of them called for nutmeg and I can clearly remember my grandmother using nutmeg.Thank u so much
Thought I'd give this recipe a go. Glad I did. These are the best I've ever had. The combination of those 3 extracts take these tea cakes to another level!!
Girl I haven't had a tea cake since Peck was a puppy 😄. My great auntie, my grandmother, my mama and my aunties use to make these for treats. Always loved them. Just the thought of tea cakes remind me of all of them. They have all gone on now. From now on I will make them in memory of them. Thanks for sharing. I'm a new subscriber today. Such a blessing.
My grandmother used to make these for me 60 years ago, I'd sit in her kitchen, I can still smell the smell of her kitchen in my mind's eye. I would sit there she added each individual ingredient. When she would have the dough ready to roll out she'd give me a pinch of it, I would take every piece she give me. The way you make your tea cakes, is almost the same way she did. Can't wait to try them. Thanks for keeping up with the old ways.
Thank you - Finally the real thing. The lady who raised me was the only one who knew how to make these, I thought. Very grateful for the lesson, that I thought was lost. So grateful.
This is more than a recipe! I have very loving memories of my great aunt making these. They were so delicious! She has passed away, but I didn't get the recipe. I wasn't into cooking much then like I am now. Thank you so much Ellen for sharing this video with us! It has truly blessed me! I am going to make these because they look delicious! I'm late to the party, but I'm a new sub!♥️
I am writing a Genealogical Biography for a Family. During their journey's back into the south in the 50s and 60's they took Tea Cakes and Fried Chicken to eat along the way, because they could not stop at Rest Stops to buy food. Thank you for this recipe into our Cultural Past
The finished product looked just like my neighbor used to make in the 1950's in West Columbia, Texas. when I was a small child. And hers were always fabulous. Thanks for the recipe and technique.
My great grandma use to make tea cakes all the time. She taught me how to make them and then I would make them. Time went by and I forgot her recipe. My mom and I had found a recipe that we wanted to try. Yours looked so good, sis. Glad you made them.
This took me away back. My Grandmother made these also. I never tried. I will made good use of the recipe. I sent out to my baby sister and my 3 daughters. Thank you!

Boy oh boy i can taste them now. I would eat so many until my stomach began to hurt. Lol and that's for real. She would make the smaller ones so we could share with the neighbors. Precious memories those are and i am so glad i found a recipe for them, xcept for the almond xtract which im not a big fan of at all. All the rest is a go for me. Can't wait too make them for my sons, grands, nieces and nephews. I know they will love them. I miss mom so much one of the best cooks and bakers in this world. Hope she's cooking in HEAVEN....LOL. Hey! I made the biscuits this morning. I didn't have any honey, but they turned out delicious. Thanks for the recipe. I will try them next time with the honey. Having the rest of them for dinner. I was going to pick something up for dinner, ☔ too hard in Southern California. So I'm going to eat my biscuits for dinner 😋
