    I am a Lard girl! The soap is so lush on the skin and never smells like bacon post saponification. Great lather as it cures. However, very slow mover and must have patience. If you over stick blend with an accelerator FO, you will be sad😂 Thank you Ellen, for always sharing your amazing talent and love for soap making.

    I use 75% lard, 20% Coconut and 5% castor. It's great! Using lard slows trace, it's good for more complicated swirls that need time.

    Lovely Ellen, I hope you´ll be able to open your shop again in the near future.
    "Fight Club Soap" is a masculine and absolutely fitting name for your new product.
    You are one of my best loved Soap Queens ever! You´re a very good teacher.

      You will not regret it. Both are great, lard makes a very moisturizing lovely bar and tallow ( I had used beef and bison) make a very hard long lasting bars that feel just great not only in soaps but skin lotions and creams as well. Just try.

    Stunning. I have personally only made one batch of very simple one color soap but I have watched roughly 1000 videos. Lol. Your swirls are my absolute favorite. Your soaps are always gorgeous regardless of the design but I can't get over your swirls! In addition to knowing the right time to swirl, I think it's also because you don't over work the swirls. I am getting ready to make a soap with a very subtle hanger swirl and I'm going to use what I've learned from your vids. Hopefully, it turns out half as gorgeous as yours.

    Extra Virgin Olive oil has become very pricey in my homeland Greece so many of us who make handmade soap go for a cheaper alternative :olive kernel oil which is great for frying ! It produces a fantastic soap either at 72 % or even less!! Also we save any oil we use for frying as it makes one of the best soaps ! Following your recipe I've made a 72% lard and 28%coconut oil and it came out great. Thank you for your videos so inspiring!!!

    Ellen, I am trying your laundry soap. Cannot wait to use it. Regarding the rendered bacon, we use it so often here. I clean the chicken, beef, and pig fat. Then If you have rendered it, the bacon scent will not remain after curing and will smell like the fragrance you use. This works like a dream. Actually, people many people love to know their bars were made with bacon!

    I made a lard soap for my daughter-in-law. She had requested a fragrance that was known to accelerate, so I replaced my palm oil with lard and tweaked my recipe just a little in an attempt to slow it down. I did a layered soap and it worked great, but now I have a whole bucket of palm oil that I am going to struggle to use because I love the lard soap so much! 😂😅😊

Once the paste is ready, it is diluted and used as a natural insecticide and fungicide on plants. Big results! Greetings from Guatemala!😊

    I make all my soap with lard or tallow. Lard slows trace; tallow goes a little faster, but it makes a good, hard soap without the need for palm. My lard soap is always super white. I wonder if the residual sugars from the bacon are scorching just a little bit and making the soap yellow. I use as much CO as lard, and I get great lather.

I used 10% cocoa butter, 20% coconut oil, 5% castor oil, 25% lard (pig tallow), 10% mango butter, 20% olive oil, and 10% shea and like your batter, it took a while to trace. I made a soap with 35%lamb tallow (home rendered) It had a lamb-smell all along, until after soaponification and cure for a few weeks. I used a fragrance called Cracklin Birch 3%. The recipe had 20% coconut, 15% palmbutter(palmkerneloil), 10% shea, 5% castor and 15% oliveoil (due to the high prices) I also added all of the extras ERS-style 🙂 It is now one of my go to soaps at home. I am interested in using whale and/or seal oil in soaps. They are liquid at room temp. Does anyone have any ideas on recipes. I am very encouraged by the no bacon smell, gives me hope that I will not smell like whale 😂

    You could probably wash it one more time in a crock pot if the bacon smell survives saponification???

    This is not a soap comment. Do you like your scale? I recently bought a WeighMax scale, and the weight jumps all over the place and is not accurate. I am returning it. So, I need a new scale. Before I buy one, I was wondering how you like yours. Thank you!!!

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Personally, I've been loving my scale. If I'm going fast, sometimes it takes a second for it to settle on a weight, so I can see what you're saying.

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@VeronicaMontes-zn6pc Yes, CP soap is fully saponified and the correct pH after about 72 hours, so it's safe to do a lather test. I still give my soaps a full cure of 4-6 weeks after that.
