    I’ve been watching these and thank you for the effort. My wife and I are going end of August to complete all of the courses (Old Mac, Trails and Dunes). It’ll be our last trip there since we are in our mid-60s and are looking forward to it greatly. Enjoy the game - it’s an endless roller coaster of emotions.

    Erik you look like you're living in a painting @ 11:01 . Incredible green, rolling waves and clouds, hawk flying above, the contrasting red flag... that's art my friend.

    My favorite part was Eric pontificating about how he doesn't play for or worry about score and then negotiating with the audience 1 minute later about his missed tap in for bogey vs double. We've all been there.

    I'm playing there tomo! At least my 15th round at Bandon Dunes GC. Looking forward to Pacific, Trails, Sheep Ranch & Old Mac too. Thanks for reminding us how fun (and hard) golf is. Bandon is truly the best (public) place to golf in America.

    • @osubeaver9976
      @osubeaver9976 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Been there four times this year so far with another trip coming in November. They have five full courses, plus the 13-hole par-3 course, plus Punchbowl (the putting course) and the practice facility that includes a 9-hole par-3 course. The newest course is Sheep Ranch, which EAL has also "vlogged" and is spectacular with 9 greens on the cliffs above the ocean. There isn't a bad hole anywhere on the property!

    • @TalkingGolf
      @TalkingGolf 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@osubeaver9976 That sounds awesome - when you go do you usually stay longer and play several courses or one course at a time?

    • @osubeaver9976
      @osubeaver9976 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TalkingGolf Oh, that place is indeed awesome. I first visited in 2001 after they opened the second course, Pacific Dunes, and have been back there at least once per year ever since. While the whole COVID pandemic sucks, it's allowed me to visit several more times than usual this year, and finally in the summer instead of winter when I usually go to avoid the summer prices. Our typical trip is 4-5 days long and we book at least a year in advance in order to get early tee times that will allow us to get in 36 before dark (a second round in the winter is just $50). We try to play every course on the property at least once per trip but it doesn't always pan out that way. Since Sheep Ranch just opened in June, it's booked 100% through the end of the year so we won't be able to play it this November. With the resort's COVID-related "Oregonian week" discount in May and the half-price green fees they offered while they hosted the US Amateur a couple weeks ago, it's been fun playing in shorts instead of rain gear.

      OSU Beaver 99
      I posted this in the main comments, but you look like you would have an opinion having played there so many times. Lucky you!
      Try again, as I have never gotten an answer: Can somebody do a review of the “riksha ” cart. Are they well balanced? Do the big wheels make it noticeably easier to pull? Does it make it easier to go up hills? Thank you.

    • @osubeaver9976
      @osubeaver9976 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@My-2-Cents Since I'm a "local" being just a 4 hour drive away, I bring my own push cart. Specifically, a Clicgear 3.5 cart. Before I finally bought my own, I did use the riksha carts but it's been a while. For me the biggest draw of using a riksha or any other type of push cart is that you're not carrying your bag in the rain. I've never found a rain jacket that doesn't leak at the shoulders where you carry your bag so I always use a push cart when there is any threat of rain. In good weather I alternate between carrying my bag and using a push cart.
      I find the rikshas are easier to use if you push it ahead of you instead of pull behind you. Naturally you have to be careful not to let the thing rotate too far forward and knife into the ground, but I think it's easier to push than pull. The big, wide wheels roll through sand and soft surfacing better than small, narrow ones. There are a couple spots at Bandon Dunes that aren't all that riksha -friendly, most notably on Pacific Dunes navigating the transition from the 13th green to the 14th tee, and then on to the 14th green. So, my preference is a three-wheeled push cart like my Clicgear for the stability and accessories, but I'd happily take a riksha if it meant I didn't have to carry my bag. I hope that helps!
