    During the Q&A portion of my speech at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a young woman tried to trick me by comparing abortion with organ donation. First of all, she didn't actually know my opinion on organ donation. Then, when she got frustrated and walked away, she yelled, "You're not worth talking to, Matt!" Matt? That's not my name!

      Yes, this is the 'trap' that abortion creates -- it forces women to either live in a world of unreality (in which they are easily manipulated for political power), or to admit that they have killed their own child.
      Which is why they push abortion, constantly. It's a chain that they can put around the necks of women, to keep them picking cotton on the D voting plantation. The only way to escape requires them to admit they killed their own baby. Many women simply are not strong enough to ever overcome that... it's diabolical. So they live their entire lives ranting about clumps of cells, and voting for the people that enslaved them.

    An organ cannot survive outside of a body. A baby can. Apples and oranges here.

    • @thecaptain5026
      @thecaptain5026 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      That's true, but also note:
      Without medical help, a baby could survive outside the womb after 24 weeks. Before 22 weeks it's extremely rare/impossible.
      And sometimes, early in development we can see severe congenital anomalies e.g. that a baby is never going to be able to survive. In a case like that an abortion is needed.

    • @mushios
      @mushios 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@thecaptain5026 So my responce to the last part. I would still say abortion isn't needed in that case.
      Unless the mother was at risk, like an ectopic pregnancy where the child is harming the mother. There is no point in abortion.
      Someone explained once that if you were by the side of a dying family member. Wouldn't you want to spend your last moments on earth together as long as you could? Same with a baby, even if they aren't viable to survive outside the womb for very long. Most mothers would wanna hold on to their babies for as long as they could. The womb is the safest place for their baby and I'd wanna spend every second that I had with my child if that were to happen.
      Currently 20 weeks right now so that definitely got me.

    • @thecaptain5026
      @thecaptain5026 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @theevermind 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I don't think the claim she confused organ and baby was accurate. I think her line of argument was intended to be:
      1. Knowles was supposed to agree that it's wrong to take resources from a person without consent.
      2. A baby in a womb takes resources from the mother
      3. If a mother does not give consent to give nourishment (resources) to the baby, then Knowles must agree that continuing the pregnancy is wrong.
      It all blew up when Knowles rejected the idea of people's bodies being "resource."

The amount of information contained in the unfertilized egg and the triggering sperm, is far greater than that contained in the greatest commuter we have every built, but WE still, dispite what we know about eh genome, still do know HOW great. But also we do not know nearly enough about how the little body reacts with the woman’s body. Life interacting with life. Living person with living person.

      Speaking as someone who could not have children, I find I've become more disgusted by the social view that sex is entertainment (as opposed to a resting place in marriage) and the sport must be free of consequences. The issue of rape, incest or danger to the life of the mother are separate to the main argument and are a decision between the parent(s) and their doctor. Setting those aside, this leaves economic, social and self interest as the motives for an abortion. This young women, who walked away exhibited body language that revealed she was not listening. So she didn't comprehend that Matt was clarifying and providing the logic of his argument. A shame, as she is too young to have lived the consequences of her actions.
      In fact her most current regret may be asking Matt a question.
      Control and autonomy over one's body is all well and good, but if you can't CONTROL yourself, such as keeping your knees together, effectively enough for what is an ephemeral experience, you have no right to debate the argument.
      There are no accidental pregnancies. Pregnancy is the direct result of cause and effect.
      However if you engage in sexual intercourse without birth control and don't become pregnant, THAT is an accident.
      I am older than the last woman who stood up, and like her I have some regrets, but throwing away a child is thankfully not one. I was too busy I'm my 30s to think of children. However, my 40s and 50s were filled with an acute sorrow for a child I would never have. (adoption was set aside to care for a sibling) I can only say to young women, respect yourself. Sex is not power, nor will it fulfill self worth. Never think you will always have time later...because you won't. That child you choose to abort may be the only opportunity to be a mother you will have, and in 68 years of life, every woman I've known who aborted a child lived with questions and regret.

      You have hit the nail on the head when you say that not becoming pregnancy is the "accident". Why isn't this understood / told / taught? But in today's mindset, people think that sexual activity is a right, not an expression of life-long commitment to another person that most likely will result in pregnancy and a child (another 20 years of dependancy and a lifetime of love and connection).

    In addition to Michael's argument... a woman has bodily autonomy, that autonomy ends at her body... Like Michael said every organ is known for its function, the function of a uterus is conception, pregnancy and birth of another human being. If she feels that becoming pregnant is a loss of her bodily autonomy then she might want to reconsider actions that lead to procreation. Before a child can be conceived there is an exercise of bodily autonomy made to engage in sex, once that decision is made whether the full weight of the consequences of those actions is realized there is created the potential that you will become responsible for a life that is not "you"/yours.
    Arguments concerning rape are a different line of reasoning that are related to autonomy but was not what was being used by this young woman, at least not in this exchange. Her argument did not presuppose the woman was raped, just that a woman not being able to kill her unborn child was a loss of autonomy. It is also interesting to note that she wants to equate a cadaver to a living child. One is a body the other is a living being with a body.

This is in the realm of God given rights or maybe you think of it as natural rights. Things you’re born with and entitled to as a human being. It supersedes government power. The government has no right to legislate the means of my body. We are not supposed to be property of the government. This does not contradict being pro life either. The reality is that reducing the chance of something happening, doesn't remove your responsibility, should it necessarily happen, and it is more than just a moral obligation, it is a legal one (I'd use the analogy I often do for this, but I'm pretty sure it would get deleted).

    • @devindaniels1379

      The analogy I use was presented to me as a pro-choice argument. If you are at fault in a car accident and the other person needs your organs to live. They try to claim that they still don't have a right to your organs but clearly didn't think it through. If you don't provide the organs, you are guilty of manslaughter and you wouldn't be had you provided them. So you're right, it doesn't matter if you did something to drive a little safer if the accident still happened.

Neither are procedures meant to save the mother from a pregnancy doomed to failure, that can or will result in her death or disfigurement. The procedures used, try to save both while ering on the side of caution for the mother. Except the methods used in ectopic pregnancies. With respect, I think Micheal misunderstood the young woman’s comment about organ donation. She was making the argument that a woman should not be under the obligation to allow a baby to impose on her body/organs to sustain its life. This is a ridiculous argument nonetheless. When a woman uses her “organs” to conceive that baby she participates in creating a life that is dependent on her body for survival. To create a situation in which another human being’s life is dependent on our organs or actions and then withhold those resources is not comparable to being expected to donate one organs to a person who’s threatened mortality was not caused by our actions. If one were a skydiving instructor and invites clients to jump from planes under one’s supervision than that instructor has created a situation in which the client is dependent on him for her survival, therefore this instructor is morally obligated to sacrifice his body to protect the life of his client. By contrast, If I am sitting in a plane and a stranger unexpectedly open the plane door and jumps, I am under no moral obligation to sacrifice my life/body to save that person, just as I am under no moral obligation to donate my organs to someone who’s situation I did not cause. I am morally obligated to allow use of my “organs” to the helpless child who, through my action, I placed in a condition of complete dependence on me for survival. In my opinion the man has also participated in the act of creating a helpless, dependent child so he is under the moral obligation to protect, house and feed that child until adulthood or further even to the degree that he sacrifice his own life to protect the life of that child, if the situation should arise. For a man to walk away from a woman and the child that he co-created is arguably as immoral an abortion.

      yes, but unfortunately many people can't fathom this. the second you die they can't use your organs. here in the Netherlands a liberal party forced us to register as a donor or not donor. if you were late with your registration or you simply didn't care, or you didn't know about this new law the government automatically register you as a donor. luckily you can always make changes but many people ignore this.

Don't put it past the "system" to pre-suppose your death and take your organ that the system deems critical before you are actually dead or maybe just not give you the chance to not die. Don't think it hasn't happened - $$$$$ buys many things if the right person is selling.
