Great show. I also have all the original US albums, many of them in the shrink with price tags. The only bonus photo I am missing is the one from 1956 given away when you bought the first album.
I haven't sold an Elvis records on the 53 years I've been collecting. You can't take it with you, true, but you can't take the money either, so there's that. I've gotten great deals , fair deals and I've overpaid at times, so I figure it evens out. I agree with Johnny B and your take on the market going forward. I'm willing to be they'll be a market bump in 2027, but I could be wrong. Great show. Robert, I've sent an email to you if you could be so kind to respond regarding a question I have..
Great show, thanks again Robert and Johnny B. Collecting records is natural human behavior: in prehistoric times we were hunters and gatherers, nowadays we hunt for rare records to collect them. It's just evolution ;-) You are so lucky living close to fire. It is really expensive to collect US records from Europe if you consider buying prices, taxes, shipping costs and customs that have to be paid so I am certainly not complaining some collectors are now focusing on those multicolored modern day grey market releases as prices have come down over the last years. Also I now use an American shipment forwarder to collect 20 or 30 records and than include them in 1 shipment to The Netherlands. That cuts shipping costs to a fraction. Happy hunting everyone and thanks, Robert and Johnny.
Awesome show! Very well done! On the reissues, the biggest challenge are the 1963-64 all-silver print MONO and STEREO copies of the earlier albums, as we know. Several of them, I have never seen in my 47 years of collecting. To have a complete set of those in Near Mint would be the ultimate collection to me!
I find things are different over here in the uk , elvis always sells. Great to see Johnny b and he's amazing collection and always look forward to your episodes . Luv the show.
Something else you mentioned, and I've heard this too, was that the green backed Christmas Album was a giveaway in Las Vegas. This may be true, but I distinctly remember being in a local department store in the 70s where they had a whole rack of these. While I really wanted to buy one I couldn't justify in my mind spending the 2 or 3 dollars on an album I already had just because the back cover was a different color. One of many unfortunate decisions made back in the day!
Price Guide is BS. But it’s good for keeping track of what you have. And collecting for the fun. And the record shows are not carrying good 50 and 60 material. And zero on 78s
Sorry Nick. But, respectfully, you just named the MAIN reason why price guides are NOT B.S. - "keeping track of what you have". But most important, discovering things that you don't. If it wasn't for Elvis Presley price guides (in particular) it would almost be impossible to to keep track of the massive amount of Elvis Presley records and memorabilia produced throughout the years. Sounds like you're one of those collectors that don't agree with the prices in those books. That's fine. But remember two things that I've said many times on the show, the prices are not etched in stone AND it all comes down to what one is willing to pay and what one is willing to sell. TCB
Thanks for another fantastic and interesting show Robert. Always great to see Johnny B!!

The price guide is a great book for seeing what is out there and helping you to find what you need!!!
