I’m wondering if you don’t have a raccoon killing those birds it your trap?…

  • @bumpkinrocks

Just use finer mesh, snakes won't get in.
Looks like a cat or similar getting the pigeons in the trap.

  • @zebedeemadness2672

I'd go with a Raccoon, reaching in and grabbing the pigeons out the trap. Instead of killing snakes over and over, replace the wire mesh you have with 1/2 inch X 1/2 inch size mesh, that snake can't get in to eat the chicks in the first place. With the mesh size you have now, you have opened a restaurant, but you're leaving the door open 24/7 so your going to get trespassers, you need to close the door = smaller mesh holes. I'm willing to bet the snakes aren't really going to your pigeons, it's just where there is pigeon feed there are rodents (mice, rats), but they are coming across your chicks, so dinner is served, animal protection is also adequate housing, it's down to you as a owner to fully secure your pets.

Gopher snake or sometimes refered to as a Bull snake. Basically harmless as they are just constrictor snakes but they do put a hurting on rodents and your pigeons apparently. Funny thing with them too... if you mess with them they try to strike alot and can actually vibrate and flick their tails so fast that people often confuse them with rattlesnakes.

Good Evening Bobby, a very interesting one! We are pleased that you killed the snakes which were killing the young pigeons. As we know, Jordan is having problems too. Something is taking his young chicks, as we have told him, we have known rats, weasels and stoats will take them if you have them in the US. Good trapping, Bobby but so many birds killed .We think it has to be a small hawk do you have sparrow hawks there, or merlins? They could get in and out of a trap, only your trail cam will tell the truth. We look forward to the mystery being solved! Take care and stay safe Malc and Ann (England) UK xx

I use plastic rolled small mesh fence material around my property. I have 1 ac fenced in with welded wire, put that stuff at the bottom. Not only keeps them out but catches the ones that can get their head in the mesh, the rest of the body cant go. Securing a chicken coop should be easy, get rid of the vegetation and stand off distance from the building and add the smaller mesh plastic fence to concerning areas. Good video.

Here is the deal: you trap these birds and then they get eaten while being trapped. That sounds pretty f'd up. Torture. First off: it's a shame you are trapping these pigeons that are free, and giving them to people to be eaten by their dogs. Then, you don't think to tighten up the mesh wire in the traps, as snakes, rats, hawks can get through open mesh. Use 1/4 inch mesh. But really... don't you think it's kind of cruel doing this whole fiasco?
