    The simple fact of the DA involvement in this automatically raises red flags all over the place for me. This DA knows there is an opportunity to make money off this animal. Glad to here you guys following up on this after the initial podcast with CJ. Keep up the conversations!

    I had something very similar happen to me. I killed a 181 17 point with 4 drop times posted it to Facebook next day DNR was at my house. Even showing them everything they still tried to paint the picture that I poached it. Eventually they realized I was telling the truth but that deer is the reason I don’t have Facebook anymore. @HUNTRPOD same shit happened to me. Killed a 164 that I had never seen before. Only thing that saved me is I literally killed him in front of a trail camera that was in the act of taking a video. Had to show the wardens the video and the camera itself to get them to not arrest me. Dude claimed I Killed it on his property. He had pics of it 9 miles away 22 hours before I shot him. No evidence at all except for the trail cam pic. It's also why I don't post my deer on social media and the dudes that started following me around to see where I was hunting.

      @@thatguyfishingben4794this is the bullshit I’m talking about. This should never be allowed to hold up on court. Especially the evidence we have now of how far deer travel. A buck in Missouri that was radio collared was documented to travel over 180 miles across the state. These dnr claims should not ever be admissible in court.

      If there is a local DA or public official pushing the “investigation” that’s also connected to the deer it definitely loses credibility as it would appear to be malicious prosecution. I need to see a trail cam picture within a few hours that’s 10 miles away or DNA matchable blood/guts on another property or something concrete. Mere circumstantial evidence isn’t going to cut it for me personally.

      This always happens when a big deer is killed. I'm not saying he didn't do anything illegal. But he's innocent till proven guilty. When C.J. Hunted his sister’s property, it was overgrown with weeds and vegetation and the property had been for sale and unoccupied for while … that buck has probably been using that property by the ponds where it was a safe haven and he could feed and breed without hunting pressure… research proves on collared bucks that mature bucks can travel 15+ miles to breed during the rut ! I believe this guy just got lucky and hunted a spot no one would expect a buck of that caliber to be which is usually the case , bucks will seek weird places to seek safety from hunters and to breed doe’s ! I’ve hunted a buck in my hometown and ended up killing him on my friends farm in another town over atleast 15 miles away !
    I also killed the biggest deer by youth in North Carolina in 1993 at 13 years old & scored 146 5/8 & I was in news papers and center of attention at North Carolina DIXIE DEER CLASSIC & I killed that buck with 2 older cousins just walking a property and I went one way they went other until the buck stepped out into my path and I shot it twice with browning pump shotgun with broken arm and had switch hands to pump shotgun and I only hit deer with2 buckshot one in nose and one in heart and I was lucky and after everything was said and done rumors of me killing at night with spot light surfaced and my dad killed it actually and so on and so forth !people hate to see someone else shine and they try to dissect and take your glory !

      I found it interesting that you said research on collared bucks shows they will travel up to 15 miles during rut, and you shot one 15 miles away from where you usually see him. 😂
      So I looked it up, I didn’t find this to be the case. Both MSU and Penn State 10+ year studies did not have bucks going 15+ miles during rut. They showed the longest a buck will travel is early in its life when it gets kicked from the doe group, that if they survive they MAY travel up to 10 miles to find a new home range. Some bucks were traveling up to 7-10 miles during rut. But most were traveling 3-5 miles away from their home range, which conveys what my friends and family and I see.
      Not saying it’s not true, your story. But I found it interesting.

    The burden of proof is on the state. Circumstantial evidence is not proof and we are all considered innocent until proven guilty. There is no way to prove that deer didn’t travel 10 miles, even overnight, during the rut. I would give him the benefit of the doubt until absolute rock solid proof of his guilt is found.

      @chrishybart3269 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree that most of the evidence is circumstantial and he is innocent until proven guilty. Having said that, the “circumstantial” evidence is so strong, it just screams what really happened. He didn’t own a weapon or climber and lived within eyesight of the property area that he was frequently seen ( landfill and DA property area). Anyone that is a true hunter, sees this for what it is. He lived where it was likely sighted many times and did not even own a weapon or climber or the basics of what any, even fledgling, new hunters or aspiring bow hunters would definitely own. Anyone that has ever been a bow hunter ( especially a bow Hunter) sees this picture and the “circumstantial “ evidence differently than someone that has not hunted or been a committed hunter ( like bow hunters typically are). Those bow hunters out there know exactly what I am saying

      Yeah, that made no sense, especially when you give the location and names of property owner, like people are curious and are gonna check it out, it’s 9.1 acres on my app, I measured using google earth from corner of the property where he said he was in a tree to the center between the two ponds and it’s 65 yards… I mean I’m cheering for the guy and hope it’s all good, but when you see little details like that, you can’t help but think… I mean shit, you would think he could still see the buck from a stand at only 65yards in a open field with only two ponds on it. Either way, he’s innocent till proved otherwise, and that’s the way it should be.

    America is strange, with how obsessive people are over deer. To the lengths some will go, to kill a deer, and the reactions to a big deer being killed.
    It's sad, that law enforcement always views us as guilty until proven otherwise. And it's like that, up here in Canada too. CO's are not your friend. And yes, they will lie. I have seen situations where they did. And this DA would too, seeing the lengths he's going to already. They are above the law almost, their words are just taken way more seriously.

      His buddy CORY works at a farm down the road from the landfill and CORY is the one that started this whole ordeal a few years ago. He is the ring leader. And these boys have been hunting the city property illegally for a few years now. So it’s not like CJ went in there one time and killed this monster buck. Him and Cory and a couple other friends have been sneaking in there and hunting for awhile now. I know for a fact that CJ has taken 2 bucks off those city properties and another gentleman that is in their clique that hasn’t been mentioned, has also taken a buck from their. So there is a lot that will come out in the end. And CJ and all his criminal buddies need the book thrown at them for what they have been doing for the past few seasons.

    They literally probably just drove in late after midnight when every one was in the bed, loaded it, and drove out.

    Hopefully we get some updates soon. Aside from the absolutely odd details of the hunt, I really struggle with the story after looking on ONX at where CJ claims he killed the buck. It’s about 8 acres with maybe 2 acres huntable. The story is tough when you consider everything with the hunt, and recovery happened within maybe a 100X150yd area. I think any hunter looking at that property would struggle with the story. I mean from about where he says he was sitting to the middle of those ponds is 50yds roughly. He didn’t hear it or see it go down?

    When you guys get into his mind and talk through how you would of done it, what’s to assume it was with a legal weapon and during legal hours? If CJ was going to illegally trespass, I would argue that he wouldn’t care about breaking any other laws either. Just my two cents. Enjoyed the podcast

      So when people hear poaching, immediately they think rifle and spotlight. We went into it assuming that since the DNR only released hunting without written permission, the other common poaching tactics had been eliminated from discussion. Maybe that’s wrong but it is how we approached it

    • @aidanodonnell473
      @aidanodonnell473 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HUNTRPODThat’s a good point. My take on the hunting without written permission was that it was the only way to start a case. The hunting without permission would be certain to have happened if he poached it, and the other stuff such as weapon and time of day would come out further along in the process of the case.

    CJ has confessed to the ODNR according to Mike Rex, who is Chairman of The Ohio Wildlife Council. We spoke to him and his sons and they said that CJ admitted to the ODNR that he poached the buck. He did not have permission to hunt the property on which the deer was harvested and after the deer was killed, he brought it to his sisters property. It's not a matter of opinion at this point, the deer was harvested illegally. I don't think that this will come as a surprise too many people, especially if you listened to the original podcast with him. There are a lot of holes in his story and he shows a lot of signs of a pathological liar.

      Not true at all first off common sense tells everyone the position Mike held he wouldn’t talk about an open investigation especially information and details about the case and if he did you can definitely get in trouble for that there’s a reason investigations don’t have information put out before trial because the chance for tampering with evidence and the defense could prove that lol and this is CJ and trust me my attorney sees all these the fact of the matter is that’s not true 😂 good click bait to read though if I admitted to it let’s see the written statement or recording 🧐 🧐

If you harvest a deer illegally, that is poaching. Offense number 2. Any illegal method. Doesn’t matter what - whether that’s out of season, wrong weapon, hunting on a piece without permission. It’s all poaching. This guys logic is like saying I can’t get charged with murder if I’m trespassing first, it’s just trespassing. Wow 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

    Hey the next time u talk to CJ, ask him where he shot the buck from last season that’s on his wall. Then ask him how he was able to hunt last seasons buck, when this season is the first time he has purchased a deer tag and hunting license. The dude had a corn pile on that property where he was trespassing and poaching, and he not only left behind a knife, he also left empty ice bags behind. The dude was an idiot from the get go, and this wasn’t the first buck he took off that property in town. Every one that grew up here knows the big bucks that are in town. The cemetery and the fairgrounds, and landfill, and the Roberts property have always held huge bucks. But let’s believe CJ that he harvested that giant on his sisters 8 acre “yard”. And he told u guys on the podcast that his sisters property was 30 acres. That’s the first lie I caught that I heard him say. I’m a local guy to the area and u can take this as rumors, or believe it. But yeah ask him about that deer that’s mounted on his wall.

    If this buck was killed where they are saying, I actually work very close to this location. There is a walking trail that goes by the landfill and I walk this trail frequently on my lunch breaks. The deer around there are very tame and are not afraid of humans. You can get very close to them. I could definitely see this buck getting shot in this suburban area. Also, if you read his story on Outdoor Life, he said he made a bad shot and the buck went off a little ways, but actually came back by and he couldn't get another shot, because he couldn't get his crossbow cocked. What he told you guys was, he made a bad shot on the buck and the buck walked off out of sight. Two different stories right there. Not that none of it happened, but nothing true has any part of a lie in it. Something even that seemingly insignificant is a crucial part of a story that he was very detailed about. You never have to try to remember what you told someone when you tell the whole truth. Lies, especially detailed lies are hard to keep track of and remember. Hmmmm.....why are we to assume that the DA's property was this bucks core area? If that is the case, wouldn't the DA have numerous time stamped trail cam photos of this deer? Could it be that the bucks core area was somewhere in between CJs sister's property and the DA's, making it more likely that the buck didn't have to travel the 10-12 miles. If the bucks core area was only 5-6 miles in-between the 2 properties, and the DA was hunting heavily and put unwanted pressure on the deer. It would make sense that the buck would travel toward the less pressured area , which would be toward CJ's sisters. Word getting around that the buck was seen on the DAs property along with the adjacent property of "open to hunting" park land mentioned in this video would bring even more pressure from hunters around the DA's property thus forcing the buck to travel to less pressured area " CJ's unhunted sisters small parcel"

    Let’s all agree on something. I know for a fact, most people who shoot a giant or once in a lifetime deer on someone’s property that I have permission on or on public land will not tell the exact spot where he got it. Unless i own the land, i would lie too. That’s number one, number 2 it’s around a D.A. These guys will try and bend whatever power they have to help them or just screw someone they now hate if they can’t belive someone else shot the deer they been hunting. Another point is why would a DNR officer come and check right after? Was he pushed by the D.A to go check? Would they have done the same thing if it was a 120” deer? Or are they speculating because some people claim that deer was 10-20 miles away? Deer can travel so good luck proving that. Also hunting not too far from home, not taking your phone is very very normal. I bring mine when I hunt but never touch it unless i’m taking photos. Some people go hunting to disconnect from the digital world so that being a question mark is just nuts. Again with what information did they gather that gave the judge the green light to get warrants and the power to seize things that easily on random peoples claims of there being pictures miles away. So many question marks and knowing that how the DNR works and governments work in general. They can stack everything on their side and do and get what they want. They can lie in cases during questioning or what not, but if we lie, it’s open to jail time. Always innocent until proven guilty so i’m with the kid.

    • @wcb5890
      @wcb5890 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They don't "claim" the deer was 10-20miles away....there are actual pictures of it 10-12 miles away. It is not normal in todays day and age to leave your phone at home sorry I know tons of guys that hunt "close to home" or even just behind their house, and they have their phones on them. Even more so when you get dropped of and picked up by someone.
      As far as "would they have done the same thing if it was 120" deer" more than likely if a landowner that it was shot illegally on their property, yes probably. Also, you probably wouldn't of heard about the deer if it was 120: because the kid wouldn't be running all over promoting it. He also was hunting his sisters land and showed the DNR officer the carcass of the deer on that property. Which is also odd considering nobody brings the carcass back to the exact spot they killed the deer.
      Will he be found guilty...who knows but to defend the kid based on the reasoning that you allude to towards the end of your rant, that he is basically innocent because of how govt and the DNR works is laughable. He probably poached it but the "evidence" may not be strong enough to convict him. But I suppose O.J. didn't do it because govt.

      @@wcb5890 okay so mr sherlock holmes you seem like you got insider news on this 🤣. You need to learn some proper grammar first of all. Second, he isn’t well off, probably got one car at home, so he let his wife use it to get the kids from school and move around if there was an emergency. Better than it being parked at a farm the whole time doing nothing. Third, You need to wake up lol, so many people hunt their own property or close to home without taking their phones 🤣🤣🤣. A lot of hunters go out to disconnect from reality and see it as a getaway to just relax and be at peace for a day. You don’t know nothing about where the carcass was because there has been no information on that you’re talking from your ass. And if you think the DNR wouldn’t love to have that thing hanging in their office, you’re lost. Why doesn’t the government spend this much money and efforts on bigger real life issues instead of doing it for deer? Fining people $1000 an inch? That’s way over the top and is just plain stupid. You seem like the type of boot licker for any type of officers lol. Wake up buddy we as society put an emphasis on deer antlers. Take a step back society and especially the DNR have made big deer antlers a prized possession. So would they have done it if it was a 120” deer? F No, at the end of the day it’s still a damn deer, and the antlers on a 120 v 220 is still made of bone. There’s so many giants that for a couple i’ve seen that would smash milo hansons buck, but some people just do not care and don’t want to deal with the jealously and target painting on themselves for a darn deer. As far as the knives, they will probably check his DNA, the deers DNA and compare it to the DNA on the DAs property is the smoking gun or not. You're telling me the only grip & grin pics are of a nighttime in the bed of a truck? ---- NOW, I also think them taking the rack is bulls987t - this is the problem with Game & Fish departments, you're considered guilty until you've proven yourself innocent. Whatever side of the fence you're on, you have to admit 2 + 2 isn't adding up to 4. And if this was done legally, it should be easy for CJ to put this to rest with kill site pics and those close friends we all would have with us to help recover such a Buck.

    I went to school to be a DNR, and I never ended up finishing the schooling. But an officer came to give a big presentation, and he said the DNR gets most guys to confess by bluffing the hunter with fake evidence (photo shopping pictures, ect) and fake stories against the hunter to see if his story will fall apart. So it doesn’t surprise me that the DNR says they have CJ’s knives to try bluff him into a confession.
    The officer that gave the presentation to my class, pretty much told everyone how to get away with poaching.
