I did professional painting for a few years and I'm sorry, but these guys looked like it was their first day on the job or just being lazy. Two man job that would take no more than three days to do excellent work for a home like yours. Sharp lines, walls and ceilings with no runs. Smooth af. Removing all wall plates, light fixtures, registers etc, taping, mudding and sanding first day. Two coats on day two. Half day for touchups, cleanup and reinstalling wall plates and registers properly etc if we didn't have another job to go to. Otherwise we'd do it in two days. Mind you, a days work included an hour lunch, multiple smoke/vape/weed breaks all in less than eight hours per day. Our tarps had only dust on them. Super clean, but pricey. You get what you pay for. :)
We did a home renovation about 6 months ago and our contractors were super nice. They went above and beyond by doing things that were lost in communication. It’s kinda sad to see they could have done some small things to help or fix but they just didn’t care. At the end of the day if you are okay with it, that’s all that matters. I just hate seeing it as a “perfectionist”.
My family went through a major kitchen remodel two years ago and watching this video has resurfaced unpleasant memories. Every night after work, using my shop vac in the kitchen, dining, and living room to capture dust, dirt, and debris left by the workers of the day. At first it feels like a losing battle, but near the end it is much easier. And you can reduce transferring the material to other parts of your home.
As a guy who works in home repair, professional sheetrockers have my sincere respect. It blows my mind how much more they can do than I can, in less time, looking just as good if not better!
This just makes me feel better that I’m not the only one doing a bunch of home improvement stuff. Currently waiting on them to install our new kitchen floors tomorrow so I can put the kitchen back together.
We always use the cooking pot that you put in the not used part maybe from wedding gift. It's pressure cook food, so what you do with a slow cook in 3h it does the same result in about 30 minutes!
I suggest closing-in you Outdoor patio and transforming that into another room. Permits will likely bee needed (and taxes may increase), however it will be worth it in the end.
Hey Paul and Joe :) Once again a great video! I really have to say that I enjoy your home renovation and remodeling videos at least as much as your usual content. Keep up the great work :)
Awesomesauce!!! 5 Parts??!!! YES!!!!! It's funny seeing how long ago this was, but now getting the play by play is SO WORTH IT!! If you can't tell, I am a HUGE FAN of Paul's house work as well as his computer work. It sparks my creativity. And of course, MAD shout out to Joe!!! Caffeinator has left the building!
I've scaled back a lot of the tech stuff I watch, based on time. I still NEVER miss your videos. Sunday isn't right without Tech News and I'm glad you are getting things put back together. Your content and dry humor give such a great delivery. Take care, Paul.
@ 10:07, the palm tree was dope af on the wall. Makes me want to go back to hawaii really bad. FYI, my first time there was after you went to the plantation cottages on Kauai, I did the exact place about 6 months later, you sold me on it. Also, can wait for some shelfing of something behind you to make it look like good ol Pauls HW man cave again.
Such a good relaxing video. This videos do bring down the stress. Is lovely to see this kind of content again. Was enjoying the home solar system. Kitchen remodel. ❤❤❤❤ Love this part. I am happy with the update of this. I look forward to this to give me a peace of mind in such a hectic life. Thank you for bringing us alone for the ride.
I'm going to use my fan stockpile to recreate the fan pc case meme. I just don't come across 80mm fans like i used to. The "box fan" fans I've made are surprisingly stable. Just lay the fans side by side in 2 (or more) rows/columns and lash the corners in an x pattern with mildly stretchy zip ties. Another method I've done is by twisting cat5 wire like bread ties instead of zip ties. They make great window fans. I once did one from the floor to the top of a door frame and closed the door as far as it would go to vent a room.
Honestly love how your backdrop and environment is now in your videos. For a while everyone had the “Paul’s Hardware” look so it’s nice to see one iconic scene change into possibly another iconic one😂. Love these episodes and I’m looking forward to seeing this new setup and what struggles you had to deal with.
Letting the contractors F-up the carpet is a huge help for everybody. Dealing with floor coverings is never perfect and leads to more headaches than they are worth, but spending the extra $1000 for carpet not only helps the room feel new, but gets a lot of sneak dust out. Great job!
Paul, maybe too late if it's already painted, but you're probably going to have problems with that drywall patch you did. multiple materials floating around, plus the box. Means heat contraction/expansion will be an issue. Also, things tend to vibrate differently. What you needed to do was use a reciprocating saw to nip the two nails tying the box to the stud, remove the box (and the crap in it), cut a small drywall patch (Lowes and HD do sell those), mount the patch, and THEN mud over the seams. EDIT: An easier solution would have been to get a flat plate and screw over the outlet. Then you have something to mud and paint.
ie: the instant pot... Its completely changed the way I cook rice and chicken. No matter the pot size the rice is usually done in 12 mins or less and chicken is just so moist in whatever liquid we cook it in.
Reminds me of removing 3 layers of ancient wallpaper from 1947 plastered walls. Plaster is rarely truly flat, and scrapping in the valleys was challenging…even after DIF applied! That 1947 original wallpaper is TOUGH.
Instant pots are great. Was very hesitant to get one but use it at least once a week. They can be intimidating but once you learn basics it is a big time savings. I can hear people saying crock pot does the same but pulled pork in 2 hours stew in less then a hour. Pork ribs in a hour. The best beef and broccoli.
Paul! If your payment was to include something, make them do it ! And mudding in the register, what! Make them fix that stuff! Not holding to an agreement and doing shoddy work “no matter the size or scope” should not be tolerated. Your a good guy and I hate seeing people being taken or have to settle for lessor work. Take care and good luck on the future
Great stuff Paul! Thanks for documenting this stuff, I love all of the house related stuff (in addition to all the tech stuff of course) as my wife and I really enjoy watching along and seeing the progress!! Keep up the great work mate!
I just checked, and am sad Bagster doesn't do my area. But I did get in touch with my local and got some 'one time dumpster' fee lists. Ouch, but it has to get done.
@@craiggerhardstein7305 I'm still mad at Linus for the shitty forum post after Steve spoke facts, but i cannot deny his house is SIIIICK. (Also love Paul!)

Black mold in the bedroom. American homes never stop to amaze me.
I have found that people who do drywall never take anything off themselves and work around what they have for the most part. We had the same in our living room where they did not take off any of the switches
You'll have to let us know if the mud over the cracks in the ceiling in the bedroom actually stays un-cracked. I think the dry wall needed to be redone to keep the crack from spreading through the new mud. Unless it just needed more screws...
Yes! New Paul's Homeware! The perfect stress reliever! And I've got stress in excess right now.
Down to half the stress
Strexcess
I was a huge fan of the kitchen and home remodel series. Love em outside of the normal tech stuff
My wife and I love watching these house updates together. Congratulations on having smooth walls!
It's a huge upgrade 😅 thanks for watching!
Yes, having smooth... walls is a great feeling

Paul's home improvement. Love it. :D
Thank you for supporting Veterans!
That instant pot is gold......I have one with the air fryer attachment on top.....it's amazing, you should have kept it. It's life changing.

No, you're 100% right... some of that stuff was just straight up unprofessional and unacceptable. Paul's a nicer guy than I am.
Blessing to you, Paul. Keep it rockin. Joe, much love!

Usually dislike these kinds of videos but every time Paul makes one I enjoy it. Must be because Paul is genuine and actually entertaining

Hey Paul, Please keep us updated on your progress!
Ive always loves watching your more VLOG-like videos. I still remember the OG garage garage remodel videos
Love watching these videos while catching up on chores of my own. Cheers!
Paul and Joe the dynamic duo are men of many skills.
Stripping being one of them. Who would of thought?
Thank you for taking us along during your day 🙏
That's what I know Paul's channel for - mostly about tinkering on home and pc projects. Watching Paul's and Kyle's channels since 2013 or so
This just makes me feel better that I’m not the only one doing a bunch of home improvement stuff. Currently waiting on them to install our new kitchen floors tomorrow so I can put the kitchen back together.
These are my favorite kind of videos. Love to see good changes coming. Much love from TN, Paul!

Remodels are so satisfying and stressful at the same time. Thanks for taking us along for the ride
We bought our house in 2019 and have done some upgrades and we're saving up to do this. I hate our bumpy walls and our popcorn ceiling 😊
Paul, I’m not gonna lie… this content is *almost* more interesting than the regular spread. I love it. Keep it coming!
Currently waiting on my only bathroom being repaired after mold. Great work, glad things are progressing for you!
I always get a kick out of your reno and upgrade videos, keep em coming Paul! They are a nice change of pace.
home improvement resonates with me.

Always love your ren ovation vlogs. And I appreciate that even the little spikes of humor stay very much PG compliant :)
Good drywall work is so worth it.
Welcome back home, i really like to see a familiar environment 🙂
thanks Paul for the updates, Joe is a legend for all the help.
The house is coming along nicely!
Glad to see the Tower 200 is finally out, been wanting one for a new PC
Garage Vlog! Love these little behind the scenes videos showing the improvements to the workspace.
Lvoing this upgrade vlog. Especially tech upgrade for the house.
Garage Worklog is all grown up, love to see it!
You better continue! We want to see the journey to a dedicated workspace!
Thanks Paul. Homes are sometimes a pain

Great stuff Paul! Thanks for documenting this stuff, I love all of the house related stuff (in addition to all the tech stuff of course) as my wife and I really enjoy watching along and seeing the progress!! Keep up the great work mate!
And all your fans love you, Paul
smoooooooth, also don't like bumpy walls. way to go man, nice and tidy will give you peace of mind, love that, congrats.
Hi there Wednesday. Nice to meet you.
Very Happy for you, Paul. All my best.
I just checked, and am sad Bagster doesn't do my area. But I did get in touch with my local and got some 'one time dumpster' fee lists. Ouch, but it has to get done.
love these type of videos and looking forward to more of them.
Smooth walls makes my smooth brain happy.
Luv your little helper
I honestly love this series. I love your content, and getting this peek into this personal project is fun af.
One of my Cali apartments had that rough crap on the walls. It collected more than its share of skin over the few years I lived there.

As a professional taper, I found your patch work ... amusing.
Interesting to see the inside of a typical Californian Home.
Love a good Paul home update to cap off a stressful week 😅 Keep up the good work and enjoy the renewed spaces! 🎉
Coming along nicely.
I did smoth coat one summer. Was not bad. Keep me out of trouble 😂.
It's a good day when you find a new Paul's Garage Vlog
Glad to see things are going well so far. Im sure its been a ton of work.
I soooo missed these videos!
yay more videos of remodelling
Really loving these vids Paul!
I love the contrast between Paul's practical home fixes and Linus' over the top whole pool water cooling!
haha, right?
Linus probably paid twice as much for all the upgrades to his house than he paid for the house itself

Woooooooooooooo! Its all coming along well! Looking forward to the next part!
Always a pleasure watching your videos man 👍
nice work love watching the life vlog videos different subject
My fav videos, Paul! Thanks for sharing

Loving the updates! Home office seems to be the move, pun intended.
Im getting stressed out just watching this Love you guys this too shall pass
Love you paul great video series so far!
Also i feel bad for the garbage man falling down
🤭😂🤣
Usually you get rid of texture by wetting the surface and scrapping the texture off. This is an interesting way of doing it.
This only applies to unpainted texture. Painted surfaces must be skim coated.
@@samuelfeguer thanks for the clarification
This is a big project!
5 or 6 parts? Excellent!
You'll have to let us know if the mud over the cracks in the ceiling in the bedroom actually stays un-cracked. I think the dry wall needed to be redone to keep the crack from spreading through the new mud. Unless it just needed more screws...
These videos are great.
