I was thinking you would have held back some heifers from calve the farm bought for feeding to slaughter weight as replacements. Avoids inter breading with existing bulls. Just curious!

I have been able to sale 8 weight heifers. Then buy replacement cows and still make a little.

Put the bushings on the lower pins of the bale spear, before you do too much messing around with the top hole. The bushings will take up space on all sides of the pin, so you might not need to enlarge the top hole.
Put a bushing on the top pin, as well, if there's room for one. Elongate the top hole as little as needed, if bushings alone don't fix the problem.

Cows can live up to 20 years, but are often slaughtered before they reach old age.

Most cows won't live that long even if not butchered there body can't hold up that long in general. There alot of factors into it. Just like people.
