    I heard a tip recently that you should use thick card sleeves with the card savers- they are a little bit wider, so less likely to catch a corner of the card, and easier for the grader to remove the card from the sleeve.

    I really appreciate TH-cam channel. I started collecting, back in the 1980s, then stopped. I’m just starting to get back into collecting; I am using collecting for investment, for myself and grandsons. While I had some idea about grading I never would have thought it was so intense. Also, I really wasn’t sure what sets to invest with; there are a lot more sets available, today, than 40 years ago. I did watch your sports cards 101. I’m looking forward to expanding my knowledge, thru your channel, and if they are interested, passing that on to my grandsons. Thank you

    I'll still send a good deal of cards in even if I only think they will grade a 9. With this latest PSA price increase, you're going to see PSA 9's card values rise further above the value of a raw version of the same card.

    • @usefulidiots3970
      @usefulidiots3970 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think that will happen eventually, but not for quit a while yet. The issue is the massive backlog at psa is the issue. The market will be flooded with so many graded cards. I think we will be ok with the higher end cards, but the days of every card being graded and prices skyrocketing is almost over, and that is for the better. Every card being in a slab cheapens the whole idea.

    Hope somebody can answer my question. I'm noticing that some of the 90s cards grade well with PSA despite having obvious edge issues or some corner wear. I'd just like to know if they adjust their standards for these modern cards vs the ultra modern cards? Or maybe they grade the older cards in comparison with how they've graded the same card before? Thanks in advance to anyone :)

    • @Codymurray293

  • @surgery318

    I have a question regarding surface. Sometimes I will be able to see what looks like print lines or a faint scratch with the naked eye and a light source. However, when I put the 10x magnifier to it with a light source, there's no indent or damage to the card, I don't see the print line or whatever it is I'm seeing with my naked eye. Does this happen to you and in these cases what do you do about submitting if the card otherwise looks perfect?

He was also in a semi famous band back in the 60's called The Five Americans, I am not sure if that gives the collection more value but I have thousands of cards and have no idea how to even start getting them valued and graded especially since I can't afford to get each card graded. @@dustinandrews7409 PSA's website has this info in the FAQ:
      Q: What is a Declared Value?
      A: When submitting these items, you will also be required to enter a Declared Value. We understand you will not know the True Value of the item until it is authenticated, so we ask that you form a realistic, educated guess based on your own research, keeping in mind the Declared Value is also used for insurance purposes.
      This seems to be contrary to what Geoff showed in the video. I would be concerned that if something happened to your card, you would only be insured for the value that you entered as Declared Value.

      Believe, after going through all that time waiting. I hope your cards were valuable and worth it, if you could tell someone ready to take the same actions, would you recommend sending to PSA? (Also considering you have a few very valuable/high $ selling vintage cards) im trying to decide if its worth it to invest and lose that much unless it adds 2,000 or more dollars to the value.
      Worded differently, if you were grading yours to list for sell, would you personally recommend sending them in and waiting? Which risks the demand or price and popularity to decrease while waiting? Or would you rather have settled for r selling ungraded

    Wouldn't most of these cards graded as PSA8 still be worth double the price of each submission $$?

    It's difficult for me to submit any card for grading when these companies want a percentage of it's value even when I have no intention of selling the card.

    Hey Geoff, what’s the best centering tool on the market, currently? Love the content. Just submitted my first batch to Joe this past week! Great service so far and very professional!

    PSA's center grading sucks for less expensive cards. Everyone flooding them with lower value cards, so you pay them more for the extra attention they're giving your valuable card. Also probably why they have a good reputation, all their expensive cards are actually being graded properly. Personally I think AI grading companies like AGS is the future.

    • @ryanra44
      @ryanra44 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SRiley28 let me break it down for you. Say you buy a raw Luis Robert topps rookie card and submit to PSA and you have to wait 12-18 months to get it back, but a PSA 10 sells for $150, and a SGC 10 sells for $110. Say I paid $10 for that raw card then paid SGC $25 to grade it. So my profit would be $75 on that card compared to $110 on PSA. The difference is i can repeat that same process and rebuy a raw Robert and resubmit the card to SGC and make that $75 profit 5-10 times during that year + that your $110 PSA profit is sitting at PSA collecting dust. What is more profit? $75 x 5 (or more) or $110 x 1? So while you are waiting over a year to turn a bigger profit on the PSA card. You can make a profit and reinvest multiple times using SGC in that same time frame. Not to mention the market can completely change in that year while your card is at PSA. I have several Eloy Jimenez cards sitting at PSA. His cards are
      Going to plummet because he is out 5-6 months with his injury.

      @@ryanra44 that break down makes perfect sense! As someone who’s just getting back into it since he was a little kid, I Appreciate the info! Buy the Eloys when they plummet?
