We raise another type of hair sheep here called the Katahdin. The Katahdin and the Dorper share that high meat quality because they both are hair sheep. Their coat sheds like a dog would and is not greasy or smelly. Hair sheep do not produce the lanolin (wool wax) that a wool sheep does. That lanolin production is what gives most lamb meat that "sheepy" smell and flavor. With both the Katahdin and Dorper meat you only have that rich delicious flavor and no after taste. Both breeds are wonderful mothers and easy to care for as well as being a top choice for your table. If you have never tried this type of lamb I highly recommend it!

Who doesn't love looking at a baby sheep. I was lucky enough to see tons of baby sheep last May in Ireland and England. It was baby season and very plentiful. I wonder if breeders will get to the point of not breeding for a food source?
I'am a Vegetarian, so no eating those beautiful animals for me.....interesting to learn about that breed of sheep though......
