    It's been ages since I've scated now but I remember struggling with T stops soooo badly and I ALWAYS assumed it was because I wasnt able to lift up my back leg enough to take the weight off the skate. never occured to me at all that I could just put more weight on mt front leg.
    I can't skate where I'm living right now, but I'm looking forward to practicing this the next time I can!

    I have personally seen Ace practice this move and you NAILED it. You knew exactly the corrections that she needed to make. Excellent video!

      @christopherthewholething This is very gratifying to read. By "NAILED it" I do hope you mean she can slide in the T-stop to a complete stop???? So many people do not slide to a stop and think that the work is done. That's the only way to KNOW that the T-stop is nailed. Congrats to Ace!

      @@SkatefreshVideos Sorry to disappoint but I haven’t seen her skate since she’s watched the video! But you nailed the description of what she was doing wrong when attempting it earlier this summer so I know that these corrections will definitely help her improve.
      It was amazing that you were able to put perfectly into words what she needs to do without actually seeing her skate.
      I will report back, we have a trail skate planned next week!

    Definitely 👍👍👍. I find that having the skates at an angle greater than 90° causes a spin too.

      Very true! I’d say 90 degrees is max for a T-stop but it can be anywhere between 45-90, as long as it’s light enough to slide.

    I’m 70 years old and a halfway decent mountain biker for an old guy and thought inline skating would be easy…Wow I was so wrong and need some serious help. This is the third time I’ve been on skates. My ankles flop around too much. It feels like I’m straight up and down but when I look down at my boots, they are leaning 15 degrees to the left or right. They are ZETRABLADE Rollerblade with four 80mm wheels. I’m doing your videos, the different ways to stop and your balance drills and it helps. I skate with a girlfriend who cross country skis Very Well. We go out for an hour, she logs 6 miles, I log 4. I wish I could keep up with her.
    Cheers …Craig

      Hi. This is Sergio from Skatefresh Team. The Rollerblade Zetrablade is a very good skate if you are a beginner, unless you weight more than 85kg approximately, and as long as the skate is brand new (or quite new at least). Why? Because it's a fitness model, therefore the boot is soft and will tend to lean inwards or outwards if you don't pay attention or if the boot is worn out. The problem also happens if the skate is not your size or if you pass the aforementioned weight limit (the skate just cannot take it). With a hard boot skate this will not happen but you can also rock your ankles in and out if you don't pay attention. This means not everything depends on the skate, it actually depends a lot on your focus. First, I would make sure your skates are your size, adjust them properly with laces and straps (they need to feel as they were part of you). Then you need to practice some exercises that Asha has in her TH-cam channel, about pronation. Learn more about pronation in this video th-cam.com/video/zTKShuZ7Ch4/w-d-xo.html Keep your feet close together, don't try long strides. Long strides are for intermediate level and up. You will go better if you stay as a block, keeping knees bent. Short strides will leave less room for pronation. You can see that explained here th-cam.com/video/3VmC45KHJ6w/w-d-xo.html Later you will be ready for a stronger push but first you need to get rid of that pronation. Finally, I recommend that you take a look at Asha's online course for beginners here skatefresh.com/product/how-to-skate-beginner-level-full-course/

    I’ve been skating since the early 90s but always t-stopped with my right foot exclusively. Finally forcing myself to learn them with my left foot. This should help, I’d definitely find myself trying to spin sometimes. It’s second nature with my right foot, I don’t even think about it. Left foot is requiring more thought.

      Yes it will do! Following these kind of drills is usually very useful for the weaker leg that needs some structure to break the bad habits of before.... Hope it's useful. Let us know. Have you been doing it regularly???

    With 5 wheel rockered frames, I find it always turns me on a T stop if I put my boot down flat, but it I angle it to the rear so the back 3 wheel are touching, I hyper much more power and it doesn’t spin me around

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never worn a 5 wheeled frame so I can't comment but if you slide in a straight line then it's going to plan!

    Where does she get the sock covers for her skates??

      They are just regular leg warmers pulled down over the cuffs. Stops cold air freezing my ankles in winter.

    Im having some difficulties as a beginner.
    May be you can help me and other beginners to get a better start. My first week was going forward in a street in front my house. Then this week i went to a park. I put the roller blades near the car, went across the parking lot. Plenty of cracks in the pavement and not a hill but ups and downs that i had never experienced. Even struggling i went to the sidewalk. Again ups and downs and irregular pavement. I was very scared to the point i left through a gate to a street similar to the one i trained before. Was good then. But i need to go in other terrains too and feel confident. I didn't fall but didn't developed speed as in the street. I feel like im too dumb to learn this dangerous sport. But i want too bad...

      Please don't call yourself dumb. I think you are courageous and enthusiastic. As a complete beginner you shouldn't really be ANYWHERE those kind of surfaces. You have to learn somewhere flat AND smooth, otherwise it;s just too difficult to learn control and to feel what you need to feel.
      Street skating on rough surfaces is super advanced territory and you should stick to nice safe areas with no cracks and no slopes. It can take time to find those because you may not even know a place exists yet. once you start looking "with the eyes of a skater" you'll find other new, better places.
      So make your skate life doable and do things in the right order and don't try to run before you can walk, or street skate before you can do a ll the basic skills of skating, turning, stopping, downhill slope control. You need all of that and maybe 2-3 stopping methods to consider going rougher ground, varying surfaces and slopes. OK?
      One thing at a time.
      Please make use of the Free drills and lessons I have on my site which will really help you make progress. These ones for beginners are best to start with. Click Free till on those pages to get access.

    My toe rolls on one side pretty good and straight but weaker side pathetic

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well noticed! Do you see now how different your body is left and right and how that affects your skating? You are happy balancing on one leg and not very happy balancing on the other. This is normal with everyone BUT it's only the skaters who really work on this with progression exercises and specific drills (Toe Roll is just one of many), who become good skaters and learn multiple skills.

    • @DiegoSmith-o4t

      Im trying to combat it but its like my weak leg just doesn't want to know

    • @SkatefreshVideos
      @SkatefreshVideos  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you started writing with your other hand it would take some time to not feel very unfamiliar. Legs are less extreme but we must focus on doing more drills and specific movements with our weaker leg if we want to even things out. The benefits are huge though and it’s really worth while.
