I bought a MPC One for making Scottish bouncy hardcore. Had a good look and this is the way to go after watching MPC in action. After all, the original was made with hardware like this. (Scott Brown used a E-mu SP-1200.)
OI! IVE HAD JJOS2XL FOR YEARS AND NEVER KNEW ABOUT XOX MODE!!! IVE BEEN MISSING MY ELECTRIBE SO MUCH BECUASE OF THIS UGH THANK YOU!! i know rtfm but its hard ok! THANK YOUUUU i appreaciate seeing your process with the hat filtering and all. you can read forums all day but seeing and hearing the flow is how i learn
It's great to hear a demo of a drum machine that doesn't sound too weak / plinky plonky, but then I guess it's down to the samples you've got rather than the synthesis capabilities of the machine.
Yep one of the best pieces of kit I ever bought and I head to it more than my DAW. Solid, reliable, and good fun/fast to knock ideas out on and jam with. Not just for the hip hop guys :)
So much easier nowadays mate...But very quick here as you know that machine well. I had a korg ES1 and that was ace as bass like..FL studio now for me after years of using hardware and cubase..and im still making 90s Bouncy Hardcore Techno x
Yep I also have FL, though use Bitwig now. But I also like to get away from the computer screen and sometimes the limitations of these units drive you in a direction you wouldn't normally go. Plus they have "a sound", character, and I'll bounce parts down into a DAW.
In the program screen you simply change from Drum to an Instrument program at the very top, then select a single sample and it maps across the whole keyboard
Sure. The same sample is layered twice, but one copy has a very slight detune added to it (+.20), so when both are played back together it sounds thicker with a bit of a phaser effect going on.
Oh yes. Also the mpc one and live both read mpc 500 and 1000 files. The live/one is probably the most valuable price of gear you can guy for the money it literally does everything under the sun, I'm not exaggerating

I have an MPC Live now (same OS), couple of vids on it on this channel, love it for doing jams on and the occasional bit of bouncy old skool too
Thanks for doing a video about the hugely overlooked loop edit. It is the first of its kind and I feel like very few others know about it.

You nailed that man.

Think I'm actually gonna buy one of these now for a bit of fun when I'm bored in studio :)

Burn down your studio and invest the insurance money in a mpc + vinyl collection 😉
so sick omg
Thanks again for making this!
This looks so confusing to use but I bet it's worth getting to experience the feeling of music
using an mpc looks so fun. hope to get one eventually.
Nice. Like the stab. When u were testing it out going up the pitch a little, sounded a bit marc smith the mad one
Thanks, yes it did start to sound a bit hoovery! Doing another video soon on off-beat stabs.
RaveyStabs good man. Cant wait
Fantastic video! Keep it up!

OG
Great tutorial video! Can you explain pls how to make an INSTRUMENT Program from just one sample like you did in this video?
Thnks!
In the program screen you simply change from Drum to an Instrument program at the very top, then select a single sample and it maps across the whole keyboard
RaveyStabs Thanks! I'll try then..
@@RaveyStabs Bro thx u for this, ive been looking for this feature ages!
Wicked bro :)
Precision or happy mistakes, either way you win with a mpc1000 jjos.
Great video. do you have more info about what you did at 9:25? This sounds great.
Sure. The same sample is layered twice, but one copy has a very slight detune added to it (+.20), so when both are played back together it sounds thicker with a bit of a phaser effect going on.
@@RaveyStabs thx. i need to try that on my mpc.
Hey man any idea why my samples sound super weird when I switch to instrument mode? Can’t find anything about this anywhere :/
Hmm, never had that problem, should playback identical. Bad memory? Think theres a way you can do a memory test.
@@RaveyStabs nvm i got it, thanks. This seems like the best way to make to make the drums for a sort of new wave song, right?
😍
mpc with fat pads worth the upgrade dya reckon?
awkwardtom Not totally sure, my bottom left button was bad so got them with sensors, but i like the MPC Live pads better (sold MPC 1000)
Great tutorial btw. Having no chance of owning this hardware. Would it be possible to do exactly what you did on an MPC live?
Yep I believe it is and it looks to have an x0x mode (I'm lusting over one myself!)
Cheers mate!

Wtf there is a x0x mode in jjos2xl !!!! i tought only os 3 has it
