  • 3 Dances from The Three-Cornered Hat, a ballet choreographed by Léonide Massine to music by Manuel de Falla. Antal Doráti conducts the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra on March 13th, 1951.
This performance was part of the annual young people’s concert put on by the Minneapolis Symphony, and held over multiple days at (I believe) different venues. This performance was at Northrop Auditorium.
This concert was broadcast on local radio station KUOM. We are blessed with an absolutely crystal clear recording - very exciting! We get to hear the conductor himself introduce the piece. Unfortunately the first side of the tape ran out in the middle of his introduction (but picked up on the 2nd side of the tape) so you'll hear a brief interruption while he's describing the second dance. Luckily the music goes straight through without interruption!
