Good samaritan saved and revived a shark back to the sea. Always learning and enjoying the free show.

Mike, I've been watching you for a few months and your videos are awesome! My family moved to St Augustine 2 years ago, and I just recently got into fishing this year and I have learned so much from your videos. Always love the tips, they have landed me many fish! Just a big thank you from myself and my son!

Hello Mike thanks for your informative, instructive and fun filled videos! I currently live in New York and I used your videos to tech me the different methods used to catch fish in the St. Augustine area. Ironically a friend of yours is related to my Nephew’s fiancé “Faith” who moved to St. Augustine last year. I would like to join you for a day of fishing soon!!!

Yeah I can’t hang with that elbow to elbow situation, I’m not accurate enough with my casts. Exactly why I have yet to fish down by the jetty. I know I’m missing out, but it’s all too intimidating.

Practice makes perfect. Also the wind 🌬 plays a role too. Pushes your line. It's taken me years of casting to be able to finally aim and target 🎯 my bait placement. Remember "throw the weight" think catapult or rock sling. Release the weight when it's above your head.

The pier was too busy on Labor Day. I usually get there early on the weekend and there was already a few groups of people when usually I’m the first one there.

Pier fishing is tough already in this tourist town not to mention a holiday. I'm gonna be on the St Augustine pier next week.

Got my sub! Are the mullet still running thick? I’m closer to cape Canaveral.

Mike, where was that second location with the dock/pier? I'd like to take my kids there. We live in St Augustine/World Golf Village area.

That's why I stay away from the high traffic tourist areas, Grown people who have never caught a fish will keep and kill everything acting like a kid. I was riding my bike on Creasent Beach on Monday morning and someone caught a shark and everyone flocked over. You could tell they never caught one that big either because they had no idea on how to handle it.

Nothing wrong though with legally keeping and eating a shark. They taste great.

The Pier= no fishing License so that is definitely a draw for amateur anglers.

What rod brand and size ? Thanks brother

    • @staugustinesandmanfishing

I’m not sure which rod in this video you are referring to. The Surf rods I use are Penn Spinfisher, over the bar, and locally made custom rods.

Just came across your video. Why didn’t you take control? I know you’re being respectful I guess to the guy who caught the shark but after a while when you realize he didn’t know what to do why didn’t you take control? I’m not sure if you’re doing a fishing video or what I’m confused but ok.😮

I did, I got someone to help. I had 2 lines in to tend to and an 7 year old boy to look after too. The man had no business fishing there. Threw over everyone's lines and didn't even have pliers or knowledge of what fish were local. Heck he couldn't even communicate due to a language barrier. He didn't know how to speak English. He acted like he was gonna keep it. No fishing license either. I wish I could have done more but I'm glad I got someone to help.
